- Ukraine seems to have suffered first losses of heavy western weaponry during its counteroffensive against Russian forces. The first images of a destroyed and damaged US donated M4A2-ODS Bradley Fighting Vehicles have emerged from the Zaporizhzhia region.
The Russian defence ministry also posted a video on June 9, which seemed to show one of Ukraine's prized Leopard tanks being blown up.
Ukraine had reportedly deployed the Western battle tanks into combat for the first time, as per NBC News. The deployment of heavy western weaponry is reportedly part of Kyiv’s long-awaited counteroffensive against Russia.

Yes it is. Like mentioned in this video. It is not invincible. The tanks and ifvs used in the counteroffensive was covered with little to no air support. Any tank is bad if it's a sitting duck. But at least those leopard 2's can survive a lancet munition impact but probably not a artillery shell. And at least its turret doesn't fly higher than spaceX 🤗

Ukraine attacking now faces the same problem the Russians had attacking; anti-tank missiles and drones. Modern day warfare really makes expensive machinery obsolete, when it can be destroyed by cheap drones and missiles.

@@khiem1939 A 2a4 was retrieved, the 2a6 not yet. when the retrievers went there arty rained on them and they lost additional 5 bradleys(there is confirmation). Also one of the lost 2A6 has been completely burn, it remains to see if the other one can be retrieved by either the Russians or Ukranians(maybe it has been retrieved already).

Bradley's have thick armor. Maybe a blast can disable it. But it's troops will most likely survive. Bradley's can be repaired or replaced anyways.

There is no magic bullet in war, especially heavy armor. Yes, it can help open gaps in the front lines, but without proper training in combined arms and a terrible disadvantage in the air, they'll keep losing some units of heavy armor.

In combined arms manuever, the artillery likely did not survive either. This is not Russia fighting, it is NATO partner. US satellites are going to feed locations. Russia can enjoy while it lasts because the only thing it will be doing in time is run backwards.

@@illuminati2341I met a couple of military officers a while ago and have been talking to them regularly. They said Ukraine will likely lose 50% of the armored vehicles they have. Under the circumstances on the battlefield in Ukraine it is to be expected. Unfortunately.
Plus they said that during the penetration phase is where the most casualties will come. But If they break through the first and second lines and their armor gets rolling, it’s game over for the 🇷🇺 in that region. And the Russians know this, that’s why they built a layered defense.

I'd like to draw your attention to the fact that Russian troops have built a defense line on an open field, far from cities; while the Ukrainian army is always hiding in residential areas, using civilians as a human shield. This is how Mariupol and Bakhmut were destroyed. Putin takes care of civilians, Zelensky - not.

The Bradley AFVs are practically useless on the modern battlefield today due to their thin armor and light guns. It's suicide for a Bradley to take on a Russian T-80 or T-90 tank.
That is literally the exact opposite of the truth. First of all, it's not a tank, it's an IFV. It's not supposed to pick a fight with tanks, it's meant to kill infantry from a distance in support of friendly infantry while being immune to small arms fire and resistant to the fire of other IFVs. Secondly, the Bradley has a long record of curbstomping the shit out of Russian tanks and has been doing so significantly in this war. Basically, it's a sneaky bastard that likes using its TOW missiles to kill tanks from positions it can't be seen or shot at from. Its cannon is also capable of penetrating the top armor of Russian tanks, something crews take advantage of by gaining height using hills and such. These are all, of course, desperate measures as it should never be near enemy tanks in the first place.

Thank God they did not face Russian T-80s and T-90s for they would have blown the Bradleys apart like cheese cakes. I have just written a review on the Bradleys to my country's Defense Ministry urging them not to even touch the Bradleys. Very disappointed with the Bradley's performance in combat action despite all the hype that they would be game changers.

The “problem” is more to do with tactics. The success of western tanks, the Abrams included, is based on the tactics involved in their fielding. Most of the tank crews and commands using these tanks have had years, not a few months, of training with the tank and others in their squad to make their use effective. Even the proven Abrams, will be destroyed without using the tactics and support is was designed for and proven successful. The vaunted Russian T14 Armata, is no where to be seen on the battlefield probably because the Russian military does not want to deal with the PR of them being destroyed as were the Leopards. No war machine is invincible. None.
Throw the Abrams into battle with American crews - in this situation, the outcome will be the same.
