A thin paint goes over a thicker paint, and makes it pop. Thank you for this amazing tutorial!
You're welcome!
U r splendid...while most artists draw gemstones and upload the videos ...they never say how they do it...but u have taught us ur technique and it is quite helpful....

Wow that was pretty darn cool. The way you explained what you were doing was just what I needed to hear thank you so much!
You're welcome! Glad I could help!
Although I use Rhino CAD for most 3D work.. the hand sketching process is always fascinating to watch.
Love this, thanks! I will practice this and hopefully be able to put gems on future scrolls :)

Is there a tutorial on how you clean up a drawing in adobe?
I made a tutorial for cleaning up drawings in Adobe Illustrator a while back. If you're using Photoshop it's a little harder to do, but changing the smoothing settings and picking the right brush can help quite a bit!
Thanks for sharing this video.
😍😍😍😍
Can you do a tutorial in procreate?
I wish I could, but I don't have Procreate and have never used it. I've wanted to for years now, but since it only works with Apple products, I haven't had a chance. Gotta save up some cash for an iPad!

How can I do same with oil paint plz explain. Wanna try to do YELLOW TOPAZ
I don't ever paint with oils, but I think the concepts would mostly stay the same. The only difference being that with oil, you can't really get layers underneath to show through layers on top. To address that issue, instead of painting over a layer with thinner paint like you can do with watered down acrylics or water based paints, it would be an extra step where you would have to carefully create the "see-through" look by using various slightly lighter shades of your chosen color, and then blending them. Basically, you'd need to do a bit more "manual" shading of those areas :) Good luck with your yellow topaz!
@@corvorossocrafting6300 thank u
Are you saying wash or Gouache?
Gouache 🙂
@@corvorossocrafting6300 I thought it was pronounced like gauche not squash?
@@liwiathan I've only ever heard it pronounced as "gwaash" or occasionally as "goo-osh". I think the confusion comes from it's similar spelling to "gauche".
@@corvorossocrafting6300 Well, the french fries can't pronounce anything, they pronounce Gogh as gogg so...
Paint what you see, not what you know.
