    I've been detailing for over 8 years , the method I have used for this situation is putting a small amount of lacquer thinner on a towel and lightly rub away the foreign paint , after that I check the area for scratches from the scuff and remove them and then finally wax the area and or touch up any small paint chips with the proper coded paint.. Your method works good as well just thought I'd put my two cents in :)
    ((Also to note, I never once hurt a finish by using the lacquer thinner to remove the foreign paint .. The factory paint is protected by the clear coat and won't be affected as long as you don't rub hard. Let me say that again , don't rub hard with the lacquer thinner if you try my method!! Use light wipes .. OK I think I made myself clear . ))

    What are your thoughts on solvents? Tar and adhesive removers? I work in a dealership and use them on our trade ins and it works almost instantly, and very well at removing the paint transfers, then polish/wax afterwards.. But what if it's on untainted plastic like a jeep wrangler bumper? The solvents will turn it white..

    What would be a comparable product to the v32. Kind of in a bind at the moment and don't have time to order your product and wait for it to come in.

      I'm sure they would...if they started selling touch up paint. Of course, seems like they sell every other part of the equation, so you'd think promoting the approach would promote the sale of said products.

  • @pookiebearandhercatslovepo2385

    I have found this to work as well. if its not covered in dirt or mud i wipe it down with quick detailer quick wipe, spray and clay. then mr. magic eraser. In a pinch wipe it down and mr. magic eraser. took the paint off quick. then i would buff scratches then seal and protect

      Touch up paint, wet sand it so it's even then give it a machine polish to remove the sanding marks. Then use a wax or sealant to protect it

    Great video. I have one question. I've done that, but after that there are swirls or little scratches from the rubbing. Especially noticeable on black cars. What should I use next? Polish again with V36-V38?

    • @tonysteve78
      @tonysteve78 Před 10 lety

      Did you use the foam hand pad or a towel? Your hand can not remove scratches and finish the surface down as well as a machine can no matter how hard you try. If you used a hand method on a black car you are going to have some scratches behind even if you follow it with a lighter polish and pad combo. It just comes down to how many of the scratches do you want to live with? if you can't live with any of them you need to use a machine.

      If it's scratches & swirls, try VSS or the V line should work as well. The vss is a 1-step polish. The V line, you'd most likely have to do a 1-4 step depending on how bad you scratched it 😞

    This is just a suggestion but could you place the chemical logo's some where else other than where you placed this one. It seems to keep blocking and covering the view and it is distracting to look at. Just my opinion.

    Hey CG! Can you guys make your shirts in V-necks? Regular T's make me feel like I'm being choked. Also, Do you guys have a quick detailer that removes heavy water stains?

    • @tonysteve78
      @tonysteve78 Před 10 lety

      Heavy water stains are almost always going to need to be polished. They are almost always to the point where they have etched the paint. You can soak a towel in vinegar and let it sit on the paint for some time and that helps with light water marks. CG makes a water spot remover as well that you will use in the same fashion. I think they recommend applying like a wax, they have a video on here about it. But again the CG product is not going to remove heavy water spots.

      This is because the clear coat that was under the badges was not exposed to the sun and elements and it has not faded or became oxidized. The info in this video would help.
      I would recommend getting a machine polisher (Rupes, flex, or porter cable) and some pads and the polishes in this video or some from mequiars or what every you want to choose and polish the entire vehicle to make a bigger impact on the whole vehicle.

      Use the same technique greg showed us in this video by hand polishing. Maybe you could get away with just using V36. and then follow up with a wax or sealant.
