  • You may already know about the mounting evidence from physics, chemistry, biology, and related fields that suggests our universe was designed for large multi-cellular beings like ourselves. But did you know there is also evidence that Earth is uniquely fit for human technology? On this ID The Future, host Andrew McDiarmid speaks with physicist Dr. Brian Miller about the convergence of design parameters that come together to pave the way for human technological advancement. It should be noted that the technologies that the title is speaking about includes ways we are designed to see, walk, and have useful arms. It includes how the chemistry of the earth is just right to allow fires to burn at all or to keep from burning out of control.

    Thanks Brian for your interview. your talk is in very close connection with the extension of fine tuning of the universe to earth, human and nature. That if any thing is that the whole of the universe and the parts are all finetuned in the same manner requesting an intelligent designer as true fact. Evolution and natural selection is out of the game or else, natural selection is not self act but part of the fine tuned cosmos.

    We would be better off just trusting God as opposed to trusting in technology. Everything we have today could literally end tomorrow. Even so, everything is from God and everything is used by God. Whether the ground is hard or soft is used by God. There is no power that is not of God so we need to credit God for everything.

      Yes, and human troubles as well. As Isaiah 45: 6-7 says:
      "I am the Lord, and there is no other.
      I form the light and create darkness,
      I bring prosperity and create disaster;
      I, the Lord, do all these things."
      And as Hebrews 12 tells us:
      Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father? If you are not disciplined-and everyone undergoes discipline-then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all. Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live! They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.
      Nowadays we have churches full of people who deny that their troubles also come from God. So how will they be trained it?

    More simply. Mankind developed to what it is now in order to be able to exploit the environment it found itself in..

    A fascinating topic. I would love to believe in the idea of design and purpose and an ultimate designer. I take yiur idea yhat much if what we see in nature is too complex for step by step evolution. But how do you then explain the presence of things like debilitating diseases or people born deaf or blind or crippled? Why would any ultimate designer allow things like that to occur? Some people may even point to wars and famine, but I will go with the idea that these are largely man made, but that still does not explain away diseases.
    Interested to hear your response.
