- VIDEO - Top Doorslammer qualifying from the Australian Nationals held at Calder Park ~ ANDRA Drag Racing.
The first Australian Nationals to be held at Calder Park Raceway in 15 years was a roaring success with two days of big crowds, great racing and giant performances. It was also the first Group 1 drag racing action at Calder Park since 2014 as the ANDRA Drag Racing Series came to town to put on a show for race-starved Melbourne fans.
John Zappia won his first event at Calder Park since the iconic 1995 Nationals final when he “mowed the grass” and took the first ever Top Doorslammer victory at the Australian Nationals.
In a heavyweight battle, Peter Kapiris got the start line advantage in front of his home crowd but Zappia reeled him in to win with a 5.762 ET at 248.29 mph to a 6.605 second pass at 231.36 mph.
“After last night running a 6.10, running all over the track and a 6.07 it was pretty scary stuff,” said Zappia
“They prepped the track a bit more today and we went away, did our homework, detuned the car a little bit and we just got the Fuchs Monaro to go down the track without having to pedal.
“Thanks to new sponsor Dananni Hotshots, Speedmaster, Southside Engine Centre, Noonan Race Engineering, K-Craft Bullbars, Santhuff Shocks, B & J Transmissions, Engel Australia, Appealing Signs, Crow Cams and Fuchs Lubricants.”
Zappia defeated Mark Belleri in Round 1 on a 5.749, the quickest ever Top Doorslammer pass at Calder Park, before a victory over rival Grant O’Rourke in the semi finals.

Awesome job and video !! Thanks for that !! Chris.
that track is longer than 1/4 mile if you count all the dips and bumps!
Wow man that was some awesome pedal work by zappia on that last run!Well done great upload.
Such a beautiful sound
awesome video!! thanks
Holy crap the Fuchs sponsored HQ Holden is still racing. That is dedication right there. Has always been a top competitor DS.
+SJB666 He has won 9 TD championships now I think?
Fullboost
I'm not surprised one bit. I think it is great that they have kept the same model/design all these years. What about Victor Bray's personal record? How many championships has he won? Does he still race or has he handed the baton over to his son or do they both race still?
awesone vid & sound!
Music to my ears
awesome runs
Did you get any footage of the top fuels yesterday. They were very impressive
3:10 never knew bbq sauce could power an engine...

are you dumb?
Marinerdiva1 you must be dumb aswell
@@claytonbazarnik4310 you are dumb enough to not understand humour
Great camera angle with that last run of Zapp's. Man never realized how rough the track actually is until you see something so fast going down it. Anyone know what fuel these guys run? Do they use methanol or petroleum based race fuel?
Were they longer than usual burnouts? Just seems so, either way no matter. Very cool stuff and love seeing them.
some pretty squirrely runs there, good job on having no wrecks
Nice video!
Look in App Store there’s a game called door slammers and door slammers 2
Rest in peace all headphone users
The best sound
Wow no wonder all the good racing is over in Perth these days. Sub standard facility here
Fuck yea better than tv! Epic shit guys!
last car clearly out of the groove good job crew
Are these Top Fuel engines and drivetrains in production model bodies?
Nope.
Fullboost They're Pro Modifieds, aren't they?
Sort of Chris, they're steel body, limited over drive on the blowers, engine size is limited by weight of the car, aero shape is limited too
Go john zappia go winner
The track is horribly bumpy.. need to repaved..
Sumantri Eko it's just the cars
Looks like the one near my house, the AIC (Autódromo Internacional de Curitiba) in Brazil.
anythings bumpy at 260mph
He tried to get a grip for both lanes 2:20
4:58 wife that woman!
+James G Less contact area means less grip.
That's why you need larger tyres to accelerate faster and don't spin wheels.
Also those kind of boots make you have a larger lever, thus lowering the energy needed to take your boots off the sticky ground.
@@AndrewLewer90 yeah
5:00 that's awful nice
whats with the track everyone skatting
Its very bumpy
Lisa Horn

Track is in serious need of a re-paving. Totally fuched.
They ran quicker in eliminations the next day, track showed it's quite competitive.
