Even I was born in 2008 and I love midnight club.
Even that i was born in 2007 and i never played it in my childhood, after discovering this whole series, i instantly loved all games from whole series. Seriously one of the best racing game series of all time.

The leap from this game to MC2 is amazing. The cars didn’t change that much, but the feel of the game became so much more refined.
The cars changed a bunch from 1 to 2 IMO. In MC2 you can tell what each car was based on, even tho they were unlicensed in the game. In MC1 they were mainly fictional and kinda hard to tell what model they were tryna implicate. Not to mention every car handles completely different and has its own characteristics in 2, unlike 1 where they all swing out with a small tap of the handbrake. But yeah the leap from 1 to 2 was definitely the most notable.
Glad you had the Smuggler’s Run buggy in it as well as it was an additional car from those that played it!

See I was left with the meager GBA version of this game as a kid
So I expected the menus to be very different
They’re almost exactly the same
I really miss this game that takes me back to the days when I was a kid
The Marauder looks like something you would see in Twisted Metal
The Faasuto GT is my personal favorite, which is based on the Mitsubishi 3000 GT.

The engine sample for the Torque JX in Midnight club 2 must've come from the Jones J400 in this game and Kuruma Faasuto GR shares almost the same sound as the Vortex 5 in MC2
The sound of that Zender though, the Black & White one is my favorite

Fun fact : Zender Type-S is actually not hovering at all. It just invisible tires and make it worst handling vehicle in this game.

There is a huge part of me that still hates this game. I blame myself for playing MCII and MCIII way before I got this game.
I remember doing Capture the flag in the city busses and max A.I. It was such an absolute clusterfuck whenever the flag or the drop-off was in a small area but it it made me lose my shit from laughing so hard.

Jones: Sport Truck. A mashup of the Ford F Series (in name), Ford Ranger, Chevy S10/GMC Sonoma, and possibly a Toyota Tacoma.
Piranha: Japanese tuner. A mashup of the EG and EK Civic hatch, FWD Toyota Corolla Hatchback, and other popular hot hatches of the ‘90’s.

I always loved the vibe of this game, it really represent the year 2000, MC2 and MC3 are awesome too, MC2 feels more like a world tour, but MC3 and MCLA have a more all american vibe

Is just me or they reused some of this car sounds in midnight club 2? like Torque jx (from mc2) have the same sound of the jones , and Voxtex 5 have the same sound of kuruma, and modicum and amata have very familiar sounds.
