In this video, I will share with you the 10 best techniques I personally use to learn any language from scratch.
The purpose of these techniques is to give you a head start, help you avoid procrastination, and boost your motivation.
In the first part of the video, you’ll learn why it’s important to have strong personal reasons to learn any language, plan beforehand, and find one excellent language resource that you enjoy using.
In the second part, I’ll tell you why you need to focus 80% on language and only 20% on grammar.
Then, you’ll learn about the importance of phonetics even from the earliest stages of learning any language.
Additionally, I’ll touch upon the immense advantage that you’ll get from combining online resources with pen and paper.
Last but not least, I’ll share with the reason why social and cultural rewards will help you stay motivated in your language learning journey.

1 Corinthians 15:1-4
KJV Bible
[1] Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
[2] By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
[3] For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
[4] And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
Ephesians 2:8-9
KJV Bible
[8] For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
[9] Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Romans 10:9-13
KJV Bible
[9] That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
[10] For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
[11] For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
[12] For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
[13] For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
John 3:16
KJV Bible
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 14:6
KJV Bible
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

The most effective way of learning a foreign language: BECOME TOTALLY OBSESSED WITH IT!!
True I do that
One of the reasons why I'm learning slowly
SAME.I AM OBSESSED WITH KOREAN SINCE DAY ONE.
Exactly, that's how I've learned Albanian :)
Passion for languages must be natural and not stressed ; smart learning is more effective.
When Luca said we should SMELL the book, I thought, "Now this guy is REALLY speaking my language!"
Your English is impressive.
he know English,Spanish,French,Italian,Polish,German etc. etc. he knows something like 13 languages
I would imagine all polyglots are good at English.
@@angonuts7492 so it can't be impressive?
@@nattymb1422 what I'm saying is he 's cut out for that, he is a master innit. It's like going up to Cristiano Ronaldo and saying "wow your football is impressive " lol
He is even good at hand gestures and mimics. He has seriously grasped all the aspects of communication. Just wow. Maybe it is because he is Italian but when I observe how he uses his hands and gestures to enhance the point that he is trying to make it just astonished me!
The best thing a teacher can do is to motivate you! And you're motivating me! Спасибо большое, Лука!!:)
I totally agree with you!
Лука один из не многих , кто разобрал ситуацию с Николаевским инцидентом
That why I had subscribed on him
Я тебя знаю...ты мой преподаватель русского языка
Yes lucas is a good teacher
МАКС ЭТО ВЫ
Luca, I just wanted to share with you how important your courses and information have been to me. I've been an aspiring polyglot for two years, beginning just after I started to learn Spanish. I have now achieved a B2 level on my college transcript and I was able to pass out of a year of required language courses after a month of intensive study in Guatemala. Your online courses helped me to determine how I best learn languages and I would not be here without you. Thank you for your wonderful contribution and inspiration.
James
I'm from Guatemalaaaaaaaaaa
Amazing feedback. I'd love to know more about these courses.
Congratulations James if you keep studying at least 15 minutes a day you'll be surprised how far you can go in a year read, watch, speak, writte Spanish interact with native speakers before you know it you'll be a C1 level i learned portuguese in my early 60s & I'm at the end of b2 i noticed my reading , writting, & comprehension has improved 80% than 3 yrs ago,go James!!! Good luck!!!
@Smith Wessonguez I'm currently studying Spanish and I would be glad to practice English with you in exchange for Spanish practice as well.

Here's a tip that always works on me:
Learn 200 of the most common words, watch movies in the language, get friends that are natives of the language (if you don't already have in real life) and talk to them everyday or go to your desired language's part of the social media.
If you're learning French, Spanish, German or English, the series "Extra" is really helpful.
Alisha kot extra what?
My question is: how can I get friends that speak that language? I'm trying to learn Spanish and french and I can't get into these cultures the same way I did when I was learning English.
Beatriz you can use apps like Hello Talk.
Beatriz or Tandem.
200 aye??
I'll give it a go 😉
I an learning italian with the best course in CZcams.." one world italian video" with Veronica .. Thanks very much Veronica
01 know your why
02 get rid of false myths
03 prepare a plan of attack
04 find one good resource
05 find your method
06 focus on language before grammar
07 work on phonetics from the start
08 readjust on the go
09 combine digital with paper
10 create rewards along the way
Thanks sister.
I totally agree with you except with number 6
Thanks!
@@tweety123476 Can you speak fluently already?
@@josecontreras7153 sir , it's not the question of speaking fluently . I only disagree that a language learner must concentrate on language before grammar .
Very sound advice. I love it!
OMG Thank you so much! Grazie mille per tutto! For so long time I wanted to learn Italian but never really started. Now I feel determined to do it.

Nice tips! Efficient and enjoyable material.
Tip 4 is so true and important. From the moment I bought one book I started making progress
Thx for a nice and complete video
What a great scaffold I wish I had watched this one month ago when my Mandarin journey started. I realize now that I've wasted a great deal of time and energy because I've been doing a lot in an ad hoc way. Because of this wonderful video I'm going to press the pause button on this project for a short period and put your tips into practice . XIE XIE NI for the time and effort that you have put into your own language journeys and then allowing all of us out here in the CZcams universe to benefit from your success(es). Zhu ni much success in all of your future endeavors. You are a true inspiration. TZAI TIAN! 😊
Nice vid. i would also add a tip for polyglotts - learn languages from different language families and different cultures. This helps as surprisingly the more different they are, the more they support each other and the language learning process. For example, I currently study 汉语,Ελληνικά and கமிழ - and this really helps. Because studying Chinese characters is as different from "typical" language learning as music or drawing from language learning, Tamil is really something so new, exotic and thrilling that it fuels the process by itself and Greek is just a relax for me, as my native tongue is Russian and they are as similar as they only could be, considering Greek and Russian are from different groups (but both Indoeuropean).
The most practical and the most efficient tips for language learners.
Great to have you Luca!!
You are like a light in the dark" for me!
Das ist eine großartige Zusammenstellung von Tipps. And you are also really motivating.
It's long time to see a comment in Vietnamese on Lucas's youtube channel. Hihi. Thanks a lots Alexander for the comment and Luca for video.
Luca ...I’m in my seventies.
Have been studying Italian and am pretty good.
Now started French on duolingo. Is that a good system to use every day. I find it fun.
I thought Duolingo was great for developing a base from scratch.
You're simply top!👏👏👏
Lucas advises us to find your own method that is efficient AND fun, but at 5:08 he says "Focus 80% on language and 20% on grammar." So what do you do, if what is efficient AND fun for you is to BEGIN by focusing 80% on grammar and 20% on vocabulary? I'm a mathematician by training. I like to start by knowing the rules. Answer: Fun and efficient is more important. So I focus more on grammar. Once I understand as much grammar as one would be expected to lean in the first year of a university course, I'm ready to focus 80% on "the language." So after the first month or two, the 80-20 suggestion works for me, too, but not at the beginning. Thanks for the video!
Tack så mycket💝
Thanks for both the list and the encouragement! I'd be interested to know more about your experience with Romanian, as it's a language I've struggled with myself.
You're my best discovery of the day!!!! ❤️👍😁😍
Thank you so much
Very very nice Luca 👍👍
You are so inspiring!lets go and learn 😉
Estudiar idiomas, estudiar en general, te hace totalmente más sabio y conocedor de tus maneras de aprender, experimentar, descubrir... gracias por los tips.
thank you so much
Sei bravo Luca, davvero ! :)
You are amazing 👌 thank you
When I started learning Italian, I had a strong enough motivation - my background is Italian and it was always something I wanted to learn. I started learning and lived in Italy for a while, and to be honest, didn't have the best experience. Since then, my motivation has diminished and while I still want to learn (I feel I have come this far), I do it without any enthusiasm/motivation. Anyone felt like this and/or have any advice to overcome a lack of motivation? Motivation is key, and it needs to be genuine enough to stimulate you. Argh.
electric417 try to find new tv shows or youtube channel or youtube teachers you absolutely love so you have a positive emotional connection with the language and want to binge said content. Join a language learning app and try to find a cool person you want to be friends with. come up with new specific goals and visualize them. watch youtube videos of polyglots or people achieving things to inspire you. or maybe just take a short break and come back later. I don’t know. Sometimes motivation goes away temporarily but will come back.
common misconception here. MOTIVATION IS NOT KEY, DISCIPLINE IS. motivation is a feeling that comes and goes, and if you don’t have it, you’re simply not going to get anything done. discipline on the other hand is simply not giving a fuck if you don’t want to study or don’t feel like studying, you’re going to push yourself to day it anyway. once you obtain true discipline for yourself i can guarantee you anything is possible:))
@@mxmmagic9117 This is so true on so many levels.
Awesome!!!
Большое спасибо из России. Good job! May God bless you!
How to keep motivated while walking down the road of learning a language? From the very beginning I've had my whys to learn and kept asking myself: "This is why I want to learn that language", but either that kind of "motivation" doesn't work for me or my reasons were not strong enough. Great video Luca
Happened to me too! It takes so long to acquire some languages that things that motivated me in the beginning have changed. My solution was to stop. Then start again when I found another good reason. Then stop again when that changed too.
Proud speaker of 1.1 languages! 7 years after starting lol. I say embrace it if you have no real reason to invest the time, you don't know how long you have to enjoy life. Translations are 7/10ths of the way there to enjoying another culture. Whatever time you did put in will still enrich those translations, as you can better guess the intent and nuance.
One of the crucial in the beginning, study a language out laud )
Greatly if with a native buddy )
Thank you
This guy is cool af. Great work!
Very well ✔ done.
Grazie mille luca
Wonderfull!!
Thank you so much. I agree with you about the goal to learn English. I want to contact the global for work. But first I have to understand English well.
You're english is so good bro! Barely even an accent, if I talked to you on the street I would never think that you are not a native english speaker
Thanks for these tips. I wish I had them a year ago.
I think that breaking into the habit of practising everyday is the most important and most difficult thing at the same time.
I love this video
👏🏻♥️ Bravissimo!
Ich liebe deine Arbeit! Ich liebe dich!
Ich spreche Franzözisch,Englisch und Arabisch,Ich möchte ein Deustchlehrer...
For me my efforts with French were much harder because I didn't have a good why. I was not at all a good student when in high school French classes. A friend was learning French, so I tried it too, since I thought I knew some already. I was working with Quebecois, but I was studying Metroplitan French, and my coworkers spoke such good English that there was no need to use French, and no encouragement. I tried taking classes, but that was not a good fit for me. This was around 2000, so before any good online resources.
Now I am learning Swedish, and it is so much better. I'm learning it because I feel a connection to an online community with lots of encouragement a huge variety of resources. There has never been a better time to be a self-directed learner.
A few months ago I purchased, "Spanish for Dummies". I helped me right away.
Yes. I've often found the smell of a language resource is crucial in whether or not I use said resource.
That's a great point =)
