Freezer paper and Elmer's glue works good for the appliques. I'm learning. Then you can add the heat bond. It's hard sewing on heat bond. The thickness of the glue gums up the needle and it's frustrating.

Siyo(hello)! Don't know if you're still active on your youtube account but:
Once you're done with the apron itself, fold the ribbon that you're going to use and then attach it on the bottom of the inside of the apron by pinning it. Then just sew it, I recommend using thread that's the same color as the bias tape/fabric that you used for the apron. Hope this helps, good luck!
