Connecting these straps to the sheets rather than the mattress, works great! Just had a customer who bought 2 xl twin Nectars from us that we used the non-slip pad first and he needed more help to keep them from sliding so we shipped him these suspenders and he connected it to the sheets on both sides and it worked great for him! Thought I should share.

Great tip except for those of us that travel and are concerned about bed bugs so we use mattress protectors, at home, to make sure we don't bring any hotel hitchhikers home. If I tried to use those on my mattress protectors, it would rip them so I'm still on the search for an answer.
I agree with Rhonda... It's a shame we spend thousands of dollars for a bed to have to worry about this issue. It would seem more productive for the manufacturers to have thought of this issue first and made a solution so that we don't have to search and do trial and error to prevent this issue.

We hear ya! We now have a non-slip grip pad that can be placed between the adjustable base and the mattress. It is the same material as shelf liner and does a good job. Easy to trim to the right dimensions and place under your mattress. They are $16.99 for each twin or $22.99 for a king that could be cut down the middle.
Serta iComfort has had a velcro on the bottoms of their mattresses and tops of their bases that has worked nicely. Unfortunately they are going away from that feature.

What effect does this have on motion isolation, though? My husband and I are looking at a split king because he's extremely restless and I'm a terribly light sleeper, so every little toss and turn or shuffle wakes me up all night long. We were planning on a split with separate sheets and covers as well, but the one concern we did have was that keeping them close enough together to prevent gaps and allow for cuddling would mean all his motion would still transfer to my mattress. We don't want to go full on Dick Van Dyke with separate beds, but I need some sleep. LOL

This is what we have. I have to use the sheet holders(like the ones here) just to keep the sheets from being so loose and when one bed goes up and down it naturally moves the mattress. I think this system of holding the mattresses together is going to pop off when one mattress is put up and the other stays down. Also, let me tell you how much of a pain in the butt it is to change the sheets on this thing!!! We had a king mattress, but my husband didn't like it. So we got the XL long twins and made the mattress able to move independently of each other. Grrr

Carol schanerman thanks for sharing Carol. As you find solutions please share here. Here are some alternative solutions that are helpful in the meantime:
      1) To put sheets on, use the remote to raise it up so it’s easier to reach the inside corners.
      2) there are non-slip pads like this that you can lay on top of the adjustables and under the mattresses that greatly reduce the sliding of the mattresses:
      www.sdmattress.com/products/malouf/maloufsleeptightnonslippadqueen.html
      3) Many King size sheets are flexible enough to work with split king (xl twin) mattresses. These are easier to make the bed and the nicer sheets are generally deep enough and flexible enough to work nicely.
What ideas do you have that you wish manufacturers would include as these adjustable bed systems continue to evolve?

I know this is old but here's our solution.
Buy a tie down strap with a friction buckle and place it in the middle of the bed where your hips rest. That part of the mattress stays static so it wont interfere with movement of the separate mattresses.

      @@mistyash8211
Let me explain it more clearly because I'll admit I wasnt very clear on the execution.
Buy two one inch wide friction straps like you use to strap down a kayak or canoe. You can purchase these at any place that sells canoes or kayaks. Keep in mind they need to be long enough to go around each mattress individually.
Place them at the hip point where the mattress flexes on both mattresses as these points stay static.
Tie the two together at the bottom of the mattress, nearest to the frame with a loop of your choice,it can be any material thats strong. Another strap would be fine for this application but you'd want to cut it down since you'll only need a loop thats around two inches.
      So to simplify.....
You'll need two big loops one for each mattress, and a small one to tie the two loops together.
I know it sounds kind of confusing but it's really simple.
You're basically putting a loop around each mattress and connecting them in the middle which prevents them from separating.
There is another solution thats out there but it's not intended for our purpose.
They make metal brackets that go on the end of adjustable beds to stop the mattress from sliding down towards your feet when you elevate the head of the mattress.
Dont see why you couldnt use them on the sides to keep em from separating.

      Imagine this.
You and your significant other are lying next to each other and you're both wearing a belt.
Tie the belts together, and there you have it.
You have to make sure you tie them at the lowest level of the mattress so your sheets fit properly.
It also helps to put no slip pads under each mattress.

  • @beyerch
    @beyerch Před 4 lety +4

I haven't tried this yet, but instead of running that small little strap underneath the mattresses, why not use a thicker strap to go around the middle of the mattress and its frame. If you do this for each each mattress / frame this should keep them in position. You could then put sheets over it, etc. It shouldn't be that noticeable. The only potential issue is that to make it tight, it may need to compress the mattress a bit.

Amanda Miller the easiest quickest way is to zipper tie the inside legs together at the head and the foot. Most manufacturers also make what is called a “bed link strap” for adjustable beds that connects the inside legs of each base together so they can’t slide apart. Here it is on Amazon MSPowerstrange Bed Part Link Strap Connector Bracket Kit Adjustable Base Black www.amazon.com/dp/B07JYGXPB7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_.K.0CbG6SW4YG
To install, loosen the legs, fit the bed link strap around the bolt of the leg, then tighten the leg back to secure it in place.

  • @linic99

I bought the gorilla grip slip resistant mattress gripper pad. On my adjustable bed with 2 independently adjustable bases, the pad keeps the foot end from moving, but the head end still separates because it raises and lowers separately from the other mattress. The sheet suspender might work for the foot, but at the head end it seems as if there would be too much pulling on the suspender when one head is down and the other head is up. On my old base I was able to screw a brace into the wooden (covered with foam) sides that would move with the base and hold the mattress in the upper or lower position. But my new base has only foam on the sides, so nothing to screw into.

    • @SweetDreamsMattress
      @SweetDreamsMattress  Před 5 lety

I really like your idea John. How did it work out? Wonder if you had an L bracket that could tuck in under the mattress and reach the wood platform and fit around the side of the mattress.
