TORQUE MONSTER - NEW 20V XR DeWalt Mid Torque Impact Wrench Review [DCF891]

  • This new ‪@dewalttv‬ DCF891 Mid-Torque Impact Wrench looks just like the older DCF894. However, once you pull the trigger, you realized it's been souped up substantially. This is an XR 20V Max tool, so you get the brushless motor driven by the 20-volt MAX batteries. There are 3 different power modes that deliver up to 2,000 RPM and 3,000 IPM (Impacts Per Minute) through the variable speed trigger. A 4th mode is called Precision Wrench mode which stops the tool for a brief second once the fastener is snug, and it slows the DCF891 once it senses the fastener is loose. DeWalt includes a 3-year warranty with this new Mid-Range impact wrench and the bare tool will cost about $250.

    Upgraded from an older 18v kit. czcams.com/users/postUgkxW1vOBRCMrgTCDEijzpVzDWsgI-Jm2iQv I independently chose the drill and impact tool, before I came across the kit.I like the 3 speed impact gun. It seems more powerful than my older one, and it can be set to be really gentle. The drill is more appropriately sized for my use. I used to have a hammer drill, but I did not like that it was so big and it was not a great hammer drill. I rather have a smaller drill like this, and then get a corded hammer drill for the odd case I need that.

So a single row of 4ah 21700 is weaker (35A cont) than 2x2ah 18650 (2x23A cont or 46a in total). 3Ah 21700's are a different story, they are in 40-50A range. Also 5ah pack is slightly weaker than 4ah (40A vs 46A). There are even stronger 2ah 18650 cells, which are in 6ah flexvolt

    You should have tried a 9 or 12 battery, I’ve seen a lot of tire shops use the 9 amp so they don’t worry about run time especially with big rigs.

    From a Milwaukee user, dewalt has slowly pulled me back in.
    It all started on Black Friday, dewalt was selling a multi-tool with a battery and charger for only 100 bucks.
    I said what the heck, I'll have the battery to try out other tools as I go. With that one battery.. I now have five DeWalt tools.
    I've returned Milwaukee tools, for example their M18 sander has horrible organomics. The battery gets on the way of my palm. But dewalt has Way better design and comfort.
    I don't want to talk too much.. but honestly Milwaukee and DeWalt both bump heads.. where one tool fails the other one prevails.

    I have ans use both Dewalt and Milwaukee cordless tools. It's really hard to say for the most part what one is better than the other. My goto is usually the Milwaukee, but that means nothing. I have this one in the video as well. I like it so far. I'm not picking one over the other. They both do a great job for me. I work construction for a large company. P1 group. We all have a mix of Milwaukee and Dewalt.. nobody ever complains about one or the other. Honestly, I only ever hear the complaints from the armchair tool users. Hey, believe them or us people that earn a living using these 2 brands.

      In STR's review of the Milw 2960/2962 mid-torques, it got up to breaking around #600 lbf-ft nuts. This one appears to be able to break nuts torqued to as much as 50% higher, at #900. Torque Test Channel's numbers were similar (roughly 40+% better specs in some tests). Those are just the numbers they came up with, but I am interested in your opinion that for your purpose you don't really see much of a difference. Not to say the tool testing channel's numbers are not related to "real use" scenarios or are otherwise relevant, but I am still very interested in your opinion that one is doesn't stand out for you vs another...? In what ways are they closer in performance (for your purpose, and from your perspective) than not? Thx.

      @williamwulff1664 Před 8 měsíci

      @ronc4146 Unless there was a different video, Shop tools review of the 2962 only went up to 600ft lbs because he only had smaller bolts and even said he was worried it was going to mess up the threads. The Milwaukee had no issue with the 2 bolts at 600ft lbs. It would be nice for them to do additional testing to see how far the Milwaukee will go. I just got the dcf891 and have the 2962 and in my initial testing the Milwaukee felt slightly more powerful but time will tell as I get to use them both more often. I need to watch the ttc test again and see the torque curves because it could explain it if the Milwaukee comes in harder initially. The Milwaukee being smaller I feel like it would get into more spaces more often for automotive but if the dcf891 lives up to its testing specs it may be able to get into a space the high torque cant and get the job done if the milwaukee cant. Also if you watch TTC videos or read their comments they still reach for the Milwaukee more often and I think its because its more compact for their usage.

    Can anyone answer the max torque in setting #1 , and or #2? I put some lugs on in setting #1, we went down the street and they were a little loose. I thought I read or heard setting #1 was 100lbs-ft 🎉 perhaps not, I had to re torque them all. A precise 100lbs-ft tq in setting 1 would be really nice to get wheels real close and not over torque
