  • Welcome to Except Ye Repent Video Ministries, the progenitor of the online sermon jam. Those seeking an ear-tickling need not apply. Our sermon jams aren't sugar-coated: this is bold preaching, straight from the Word of God and heralded by some of the leading pastors in the Reformed/Pentecostal/Baptist Christian tradition such as Paul Washer, John MacArthur, Tim Conway, David Wilkerson, and Charles Lawson. We're here to convict, motivate, exhort, and inspire, declaring solely the Lord Jesus Christ as the only way to salvation by faith in His name, remembering always that "except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish" (Luke 13:3b).

    Wow...just listening to Edwards, and his account of Brainerd and his Journals. Pastor those Journals completely crush me...I cannot even begin to understand Brainerd's strength through weakness, yet I yearn to be better than what I am. I have to pray lest I envy Men like David B....let alone Christ, the consuming Fire...for He is unfathomable! Again Selah. Thanks Brother Washer. I pray you stay in that place of worship, through prayer, and fasting. Please pray for me, for I am not sure it is a sun to envy the things...the (blessings) of God bestowed on others. Sincerely,
    -Gerald Wilson

      What does 'Selah' mean?

    • @mclogikal
      @mclogikal Před 2 lety +1

      @@bjornegan6421 Selah is word found in the bible. Many interpret it to mean silence, a pause, the end, or a louder strain.

      When I was younger I used to wonder the same. So I began to ask, and study, before Google to my knowledge. I was dirt poor.So all info had to be really searched, and not easily found, especially when dealing with different languages. Lol. So you can imagine the importance of a well versed Pastor was, to have around. The word Selah is usually found at the end of a certain verse, in the Bible. Not all just certain ones have this. It is a Hebrew word, where the Author wants to convey, or emphasize the importance of what was said or give extra consideration an to reflect on what is happening or told by the Author, (In lames terms) to stop, pause, and consider what was really being said and its importance. So usually when I was reading as a kid, I would see that word. So to me was as if God was saying something really important, and I needed to know what the emphasis was for. So as I still do on each parable or story told...I try to mentally take myself to that moment in time, and put myself in the shoes of the writer and the one listening to what is being said, in the story, and imagine exactly what is taking place. time of day...the people...the crowd...the faces...the mood of everyone. I picture myself there back in time...seeing around me how the people would be listening, or not. Imagine how people may have been sitting, or standing and what was unfolding from their point of view, in their place, and time. It helps me to really grasp what is being said in The Bible, and really brings The Word of God even more alive. it's kinda the English way to put a line under a sentence or write in bold words. Hope that helps. Technically the other person is also correct.

      @@mclogikal Thanks. I'm aware of that. but as you say 'many interpret it to...', which is why i asked as Gerald seemed to use it in such a way as to suggest an understood meaning.

      @@internationalsurvivalcounc6980 I appreciate your thorough explanation and the time it took to write it, as well as the time it took you to come to that understanding. As the original meaning since the word (in my VERY ignorant understanding) seems to be a bit of a mystery to us, is your conclusion one such as 'this is definitely what it means', or 'this is my best understanding and i take confidence in using it in such a way'? I tried wording this a couple different ways and can't seem to get it to 'sound' any less accusatory. i'm not trying to come across that way, i'm genuinely curious.

    Respectfully Prayerfully speaking---'
    We may excuse the spiritual poverty of our preaching in many ways, but the true secret will be found in the lack of urgent prayer for God’s presence in the power of the Holy Spirit. There are preachers innumerable who can deliver masterful sermons after their order; but the effects are short-lived and do not enter as a factor at all into the regions of the spirit where the fearful war between God and Satan, heaven and hell, is being waged because they are not made powerfully militant and spiritually victorious by prayer.
    The preachers who gain mighty results for God are the men who have prevailed in their pleadings with God ere venturing to plead with men. The preachers who are the mightiest in their closets with God are the mightiest in their pulpits with men.

    Why include 'inspirational' music along with the snippets of sermons?
