  • Ever wonder how someone comes up with the VLANs they should use at a company? Step into my brain for a few minutes and learn the "thought process" you can use when doing this. NO, this would not be on a certification exam - this is for when you first step into a real job and think, "Wow...I don't think the certification exam covered this."

The way I do is by creating vlans for DATA/Servers, VOIP, WiFi-Mgmt, WiFi-Employee , WiFi-Guest.
I recommend to have separate vlan for WAP management and make it native/untagged.

Great addition to the CCNA nuggets. Keep up the good work Jeremy. One thing though, IP phones are being less and less used in the modern office, I cannot seem to find any being used in my work enviorment.

Hi Jeremy. I need some clarity on breakdown of vlans. "server VLAN (which includes management of network devices) and managed devices VLAN. "
what is the difference between the two? Aren't they one and the same?

Just for clarification because I didn't explicitly hear it mentioned. Would network printers end up on the Server/Static VLAN?
