Yes he is nervous, Khabib paid for his entire fight camp, the house, cars, food, everything. Coach Khabib is beyond Humble and he just didn’t want to let him down.. Islam will get better every fight like Khabib did with his boxing!

Is Josh really undermining Khabib's opponents just to put Islam over?
Khabib DOMINATED his opponents through and through brother.
Islam hasn't reached that level of performance. I am sure he has the skills but he hasn't reached that invincible level of Khabib.

The debate comes down to this. Which 10 wins do you regard as better:
Shalorous, Tibau, Tavarez, Truijlo, Healy (#10) RDA (#5), Horcher, Johnson (#6), Barboza (#4), Al (#11)
    OR
Kuntz, Martins, Wade, Lentz, Tibau, Johnson, Tsarukyan, Ramos, Dober (#15) Moises (#14).
IMO Nurmagomedov's first 10 fights were harder but the division has become more competitive and deeper now and a few of the unranked guys Makhachev fought would probably be ranked back then. Makhachev has also faced more grapplers as 9/10 of Makhachev's first 10 opponents came from wrestling/grappling backgrounds while 6/10 of Nurmagomedov's first 10 opponents came from wrestling/grappling backgrounds.

Great debate! I think people would tend to agree with John and I did for the most part. However, you have to understand that Josh has countless hours of training with both Khabib and Islam. It sounds like in the gym they are very close in terms of skill and technique. Islams potential may be as good or better than Khabib and I think that's what Josh is trying to convey here. Huge part of fighting is mental however, and at the moment I think that's what sets them apart. Intensity and confidence can't really be taught. I think this is where Khabib has a clear advantage...

Josh is a real one - putting over the active, rising Teammate over the retired one who doesn’t need to be put over. Big John is being honest, josh is putting his teams best interest first. Anyone who remembers that Barbosa fight- barbosa was a fucking monster coming in to fight and khabib had been injured and inactive prior. That fight - what khabib did to him was shocking in real time. Islam proactively calling out rda- who even josh is admitting would be an issue- shows he wants to test himself and level up.

They're experts in their fields of study, who were having that latter day, barbashop, type conversation. Instead of a heated debate on whether Floyd's better than Ray Robinson. They're chatting and disagreeing over the modern day equivalent, the beautiful sport, that is MMA! :)

    2. Islam's striking is better but ground game, khabib is way more better.
    3. Mental strength, khabib much better
    4. Finally, it's smartness, figuring out the game and opponents.
    5. Islam may become champion, but khabib will remain as a legend for the ways he has handled his career, UFC, opponents, wisdom and family

  • @samcruiz
    @samcruiz Před 2 lety +1

No , I disagree. He is not Khabib , because his name is Islam. He is a striker and he loves to use that skill more than Khabib does with his wrestling skills. He goes Wrestling until Khabib start to scream at him. He will build his own legacy and Opinions will change later.

love the realness. Islam may end up greater, we will have to see, hard to say in 10 fights like they are talking here. If islam gets the belt eventually and stays fighting and winning longer he could eventually surpass khabib because khabib retired after his father passed and walked away thus having a shorter career in MMA than he could have had and leaving more room for Islam as well as champs like kamaru Usman to continue to dominate, or for jon jones to win at heavyweight and thus all push khabib down a step on the pound for pound all time greatest fighters list.

I believe Islam is more technical and calm and typical betha male. Khabib is more aggresive and intimidating, typical alpha male. He has the certain aura that make people scared without even trying. They're different. Somehow I think the presence of Khabib in the corner make his pupils' opponents a little bit down. The one that has Khabib's mentality is his cousin, Umar Nurmagomedov. This little cousin is definitely ready to go.

I can see what Josh is TRYING to argue but using the Khabib vs Pat Healy version to compare to is a lil much, that was A LOOONG TIME AGO. The Khabib who fought Pat Healy was the Khabib who was still struggling MAJORLY at making 155 lbs, he'd already missed weight once against Abel Trujillo when he weighed in at 159.5 for that fight & he also fought Pat Healy at a catch weight at 160 lbs & Khabib was still not sure if he could overcome his back injuries against Pat Healy. I could see using the Khabib vs Michael Johnson or maybe Khabib vs Barboza as an example for that argument

I havent seen any of Khabib's early fights. I will agree that I think the pressure of following Khabib is affecting Islam. Islam has been rushed to the top and has not faced the same lvl of competition nor the same ammount of fights. Look at Beneil... He beat Dobber and Moises both like 5 fights ago. He didnt get ranked nor talks about title shot. Islam suddenly became ranked over night @#9 then jumps to 5 with a win vs #12? And jumps Beneil who already beat same fighters? Just isnt how it should go and punishes the guys who've grinded and earned their way to the top. DP has had to endure the same shit thru his career. Islam should be #12 and fight Gregor Gillespie. That's how the UFC has historically done it. 2 top lvl grapplers fight to see who is the better and that one move on. That's the lvl of competition he should be facing at this time in his career and Gillespie has earned that.
