- Bosch have released the world's first 10.8V mini-grinder! A brushless unit with 3" cut-off wheels, this tiny tool can get in some very tight spots.
The GWS 10.8-76 V-EC is not really for grinding, but with it's multi-purpose carbide wheel, this unit can cut just about anything.

That thing looks great! I dont own any Bosch 10.8v stuff but I think this tool will be my first! I work mainly as a handyman and so get all sort of jobs, and there have been times when ive had to sit there with a hack saw blade slowly cutting away at something because no grinder i own would fit and recip was too fat etc!
Its amazing how far the tools have come and how much power the 12v lines have these days,I remember my dads old Makita 12v Red Pod battery drill i used to use when i was a kid in 90s/early 2000s.

I've just bought one of these to use at the bench when making jigs, as they are handy fore removing the points of screws that break through due to being driven too deep. There is no need for big 18v grinders or corded tools.

Yes, it is great little tool. Go for the 3.0Ah battery. The M5 female thread is a little annoying as no one makes a backing pad for sanding discs with an M5 stud.
Have you found any way to use a sanding disc with this angle grinder?
@@Runemasque No, I don't think you can. Bosch don't make a backing pad to take sanding discs. I did experiment with a Velcro backing pad, but it does nt work so well.
this would be great for cutting down threaded rods when hanging stuff like wall mounted basins etc, or even cutting tiles.
This is good to know is 'super light'' because most tools are being built for blokes , they have the strength to hold them.

I really like 10.8V tools for their compactness. Especially lines with ll with stick batteries like Bosch, Milwaukee and the old Makita, which you can even carry in a large pocket. Not a fan of 10.8V tools with slide-in batteries like DeWalt and the new Makita line, as they get almost as big as compact 18V tools. I don't understand why Maktia decided to move from stick to slide-in batteries. I guess there's many people with smaller hands like me. But I would be pissed if I had just invested in the old Makita stick battery line only to find out they are switching to the incompatible slide-in style for no apparent reason except for slightly more ergonomic handles.
If they started from scratch it would have made a bit more sense, but since they already have an existing 10.8V stick line, I don't get why they move away from it and leave existing customers in the dust if they can't get new skins for the battery platform they have already invested in. It's not even because they are switching to a new battery technology where batteries would have been incompatible anyway, like with the switch from NiMh to Li-ion. Now they still use the same 3.6V li-ion battery tech as before.
I held my 10.8 V Bosch brushed drill side-by-side to Bosch' most compact 18V brushed model and surprisingly the bodies are almost exactly the same size down to the millimeter. If the 10.8V had had a slide-in battery I think I would just have opted for the smallest 18V model with slim pack batteries instead and only use the 18V platform.
The difference is only be the weight of two 18650 cells (less than 100 g in total). With slide-in batteries the size difference between the 3 cells in 10.8V and 5 cells in 18V doesn't make any significant difference.
Wasn't one of you two tools - I mean tool reviewers going to move to Tasmania soon? :-)
+ITubeTooInc [Dwain] Cheers bud. Yeah I totally understand why you prefer the stick battery to keep overall size down. For me personally, grip comfort is more important that height (the main benefit), but each to their own.
The 10.8v mini-grinder is super handy. Yeah Mike has been in TAS this year but we flew him over in March to do some reviews together :)

Hmm...can't think of any applications for the work I do. I'm sure there must be something, but again it comes down to how many battery platforms I want to have. The first cordless drill I had was a 7.2 volt bosch. Nice tool for cabinet installs and trim work but lacking power for other jobs. Never would have guessed how far cordless tools would come.

Thanks for the review guys. Are diamond cutting blades available for this machine? This will be very handy for electricians cutting holes in tiles for power points and light switches.

I want to use this for trimming horse hooves. I want to do a sanding effect on the outside wall of the hoof, smoothing down bumps and bulges. Is there a disc good for this purpose?
Sanding wheels are available in Europe though for this size, however.
How do I know whether it will work on this Bosch grinder? I see lots of discs that say Rol loc? Is that a different kind of mount?

How about the vibrations? At 19,000+ rpm, does the tool run smoothly or can you feel any vibration?

That's not good. You'd want to at least clean up burrs off cut edges and the like, maybe round a corner here and there. Little things like you'd expect any "grinder" to do.
Well no, you can't 'expect' this tool to do it. It probably should be called a 'cut-off' tool. Remember, its running of 3 little batteries hardly bigger than AA's.
The cells in these tool batteries give more than three times the voltage compared to a common AA consumable and have exceptional current output capability. They are not comparable. It is a serious design overlook if you can't even clean up cuts. We're not talking heavy duty surface grinding here.
[Dwain] well you can do slow clean ups with a cut-off disc if you want, but I doubt you'll be patient enough for it. If you want to call 3.6V more than three times 1.5V, sure. If any case, a small 10.8V battery like this is capable of putting out around 270W. Even the most basic / DIY electric grinders are ~ 700W, and they are easy enough to stop when grinding.

Is it better then the Milwaukee M12 grinder/cut off tool ?
haven't used the new M12, and don't own this one anymore so compare anyway sorry.
Well, i would chose dremel for small cutting works.
