With 10,000 Uber trips and 3,000 Lyft trips, I've experienced that exact same scenario. I do what you did...lie. "Oh I'm sorry...I already accepted a trip right after yours."
My daughter moved to California in October 2023 and she does doordash full time, the struggle is real for them too.

Another great short story, you had me laughing as you contemplate the irony of to have or not have a moral standing in the thick of the situation at hand. Here's a guy who never needed to tell you he was going to cheat on his wife, but was treating you like a buddy who might wish he was in his place,lol. I also have to say the guy was a Putz, and when he took that spill, karma was letting him know exactly that.

Just to comment on the side story of losing money driving Uber...I drive in your market (having the privilege of it being a side hustle only) on Friday and Saturday nights. The last time I drove was St Paddy's day/weekend, and the pay was WAY down compared to that time frame last year. I feel for those who have to rely on it, because it really feels like the bottom has dropped out. Hope there is an upswing for you, and honestly, I'm sad that it isn't worth doing anymore, because when the pay is good, it's a fun gig.
I also have a lot of feedback for the book but I’m going to wait until I’m finished and then either hand write you a letter or email you and it’s all good feedback, it’s basically comparing stories except I’m not an Uber, but I’m already at page 40 and one of the chapters reminded me of a situation my friend was in back in 2015

This reminded me so much of my ex husband. Shady as all get out thinking he was being slick about it. Not a care in the world either. I regret that marriage so much.
I’ve had people look at me like I was less than when I was driving Uber. Sometimes I did it when I was in between a job and still sometimes I do it now. Some people seemed shocked that I had a job outside Uber. And others just thought I was their “Uber bit%#” too. The scummy cheaters always bothered me. I’m not one to stay quiet though. Don’t really care if it hurt my rating, but if someone was an a-hole to me….I a lot of times told them. Unless I thought they might try and hurt me.
