In the history of the naruto world, the hokage has traditionally been the strongest kage out of all five kage for every generation, but with the ending of Boruto naruto next generations ending with the perceived death of naruto, Boruto Two Blue Vortex has opened up with a major reveal that Shikamaru is now the eighth hokage and this has led to some wondering if Shikamaru might now officially hold the title for the weakest hokage, but is he really as weak as people are making him out to be? Physically speaking, yes, he's the weakest. But that mind is something fierce and easily makes up for his lack of raw power. Plus, there's no telling how much he's improved during the time skip. He might've developed some cracked jutsu we know nothing about yet lol
did you just ignore the whole video and comment this? He literally just proved shikamaru is physically on the level of the otsusuki (it's a lower level otsusuki compare to the rest of Boruto's cyborg and alien cast, but it's still beyond any power in Shippuden)

@@minegamerpro1308 Shadow Possession relies more on chakra than physical strength. It's been bested numerous times because 1. Shikamaru didn't have enough chakra to maintain, or 2. It was just simply overpowered. Most of the people that went toe to toe with Shikamaru were nowhere near as strong as any of the previous Hokage.

The book feat he states here was later revealed in the story to just be the Kages being polite. Shikamaru later struggles to damage a tree with his shadow and realizes he has grown way too weak.

The feat isn’t in restraining the kage. it’s that Naruto had to do a partial power up to cancel it. the rest isn’t meant to be the feat especially against gara, since he can attack without moving via sand. shadow paralysis isn’t really that useful against him.
Even if he couldn’t “hold” them just catching them in it is an insane feat of its own.

Right after he caught all the Kage ,Shikamaru left the meeting and tried to crush a tree in frustration and realized he couldn't. So that means all the kage could break his jutsu, just didn't want to do it . I love Shikamaru ,he is my favorite character, but he isn't stronger then he was, ever since he became an advisor, he has had too muck job to do running the village and he has got rusty.

Shikmaru is easily the best tactician in the village. He can do some good for the village. He’s part of an ingrained shinobi clan. He was top of his class. He served under the 7th hokage directly. He served in the 4th ninja war. Helps keep strong ties to the sand as he’s married to a prominent sand shinobi.
In a fight between all the hokage he would definitely be on the losing side.

I think the author was seeerrriously gassing Shikamaru by catching naruto in shadow paralysis. Even without kurama, naruto should be VASTLY too strong for him to trap like that
On the way home after using the jutsu on all the kage he was still frustrated about the whole situation and tried to crush a tree trunk and he couldn't do it. All the kage besides chojuro were just being polite although Kurotsuchi possibly could have been taken out by it also. There's a reason Gaara says " stop this mischief" if it were an actual threat to his life then stop this madness or something would have been better to use.
I don’t think Kurotsuchi would actually get taken down by it either. At that point she was though reluctantly, actively aiming for a political goal which, without writing down spoilers, wasn’t exactly to go to war with Konoha. If she physically struck first, then it could mean war with Konoha. Plus, she’s also friends with Temari. I don’t think even Kurotsuchi wanted that meeting to escalate into a physical battle.

I think shikamaru should be the first to read all of the scroll of seals, and know every jutsu in it, he may not have huge chakra reserves but has at least he’ll have almost every powerful jutsu in his arsenal, it’s only fair if he became Hokage, and why wouldn’t you want to learn these Jutsus if you are fighting aliens?
If he were just the fill in, I think people would understand (even though it should of went back to lord 6th). But making him permanent as if he's that guy is wild.
It would be cool if he had some kind of shadow armor or suit or something. Like make his enemy’s shadow turn into spikes to damage that enemy, idk 😭 since there’s cyborgs and ninja tools and all that now, maybe that could happen in a way.

What's surprised me the most so far is how much of a fan base shikamaru a has😮 and a lot of ppl seems to think hes stronger then All the other Hokekages except Naruto! And I'm not even kidding 💀 most of there argument comes from his feats in the light novels when he restrained the five kage. But what do you guys think?
Those people are just wrong later shown in the same light novel right after the whole encounter with the five kage that he can't even crush a tree with his Shadow strangle jutsu and so he realizes that the five kage were just going easy on him
Which means the previous Kage just have to blizt him before Shikamaru can come up with an idea to restrain them. It's a 50/50 chance🤷🏾♂️

Always wanted Konohamaru to be the 8th. But they always made our boy weak in boruto. He took down a Pain and almost kill Temari. And in Boruto series bro barely defeat Jugo. It's both Kishimoto and boruto author fault tho, not just Boruto Aurthor. Boruto series try to focus on Hand to hand combat to make it feel more intense and brutal but it didn't worked because fans are just used to Naruto throwing 50 Rasengan and never runs out of Chakara even with Half Kurama. Now he used like 5 Rasengan with Full Kurama and more hand to hand combat to Jigan for only 20 minutes and runs out. I'm not a Boruto fan but when Kishimoto goes to far with power up plots even he himself cannot explain and the writer who tried to carried the legacy had a hard time trying to achieve different tone of battle but more intense and it didn't worked.

I think the next hokage should’ve been Sakura, the village would not be destroyed if she was hokage, given that she trained under one of the most overworked hokage, as Tsunade had to deal with akatsuki, pain, 4th great ninja war, and took on Madara herself while healing the entire shinobi alliance.

Shikamaru might not be as strong but we have no idea how, if at all, the timeskip has effected him. Its not as though the timeskip is only a time of training for the main, main characters (though mostly them if the og series is anything to go off of).

I covered the whole scene in a video. Gaara was pissed off at Shikamaru and telling him to release the jutsu, the Tsuchikage was pumping out enough chakra to break free of it that her chakra was visible and shikamaru was about to snap her neck using the jutsu before Naruto stepped in
