Hey Everyone - ( I know, I messed up my quick maths reversed the price /page whoops anyway....)
You will notice I was wearing Pink Nail Varnish and before any hate comments come in, I’m wearing it out of respect for the brave people fighting Breast Cancer, and to those seeking to find a way of ‘curing’ it! I will share 2 links for my majority demographic of the UK and USA to Organisations working to inform and tackle this.
Stay informed and be safe :)
Love you all.

USA - www.bcrf.org/
- and by the way, I look good in pink.
@Drawing With Dubs but his hands are in the shots more than himself throughout the video
@Drawing With Dubs my hands are my brand... and I'd rather take what people are considering "heat" for doing it. Already seen a few comments criticising my decision, but I don't really care. My hands got them asking why, and THAT will help them get more informed as to WHY than a pink shirt.
Dude, was going to ask what was going on with the pink nail varnish it's all I could focus on as you were waving your hands. Still watching but I understand now.
My mom is a breast cancer survivor. This means alot to me. Thanks!!!
I lost my mum to cancer so I give you respect for doing it man! Hell you should try joining my hashtag #dinosvscancer
You need to turn loose on the Bristol board and do the max it will allow you to do. Would love to see the before and after of that.
Definitely. Holding back on Bristol because cartridge paper can’t handle the same really downplays a lot of the difference between the two.
@@Irrational_Pie The point of the comparisons are never about pushing both to the max, but how it feels to use them and the general results you can get by applying the same techniques. This shows that while you can push Bristol paper further, you can still get great results from printer paper, and in some ways it's even superior, depending on your technique.
I like this vs, it's really practical. Hope to see more paper comparisons. Also what is your view on mixing marker brands on a piece? Don't know if you'll see this but had to ask.
If it works for you, that's all that matters!

I mix between 4 different brands. Has some surprising results, as mixing can often cover for the shortcomings of certain brands
@@TryHardArtist Are there any downsides to mixing? I've always wondered if there would be problems with ink or alcohols interacting, for example. Or maybe not interacting when it comes to blending.
@@olivialambert4124 Not really tbh. I think the only real issue I've encountered is over doing it with the ink and it kinda messing up the paper in a weird way, but I've encountered that issue when only using one brand at a time too, so I don't think it applies anymore than it would usually.
Mixing is generally a good idea in my opinion, as it can help keep costs down if you're having to buy a bunch of markers, as well as offer different options with your ink flows and color selection.
I've seen several professional artists at Comic Con with all sorts of art supplies, and the one thing that was most consistent was that a lot of the one's that used alcohol markers always had a mixed bag of different marker brands.
I'm still so excited for your book to come out. Would love to see a page with Bob or another character that has different styles like Tim Burton and anime and stuff. Can't wait 😁

Hi Adc, I have a suggestion for a cheap vs expensive battle
Instead of markers, what about coloured pencils? Specifically Arteza and Prismacolors since there I feel there is some controversy on which is better and… it was the only thing I can think of to put up against each other.
Iirc, ADC admitted he’s not a huge fan of colored pencils as is. He much preferred them to add details on his marker works, but using them alone gave him a lot of wrist strains (you might recall seeing him with a wrist brace). He mentioned this in some previous videos, when he explained why he rarely does penciled works.
@@milktea543 I figured that would that would be the case, though I just wanted to put the idea out there, just as an idea and I wouldn’t want him to do it if it would hurt him.
@@Anfonny1203 Try Sarah Renae Clark. She has an awesome GIANT colored pencil comparison video!
@@Anfonny1203 Nah, no harm in that, just wanted to bring up that he acknowledged these sorts of suggestions before in some previous videos. Instead of the colored pencils, it would be great to see ADC to attempt painting! Like acrylics or oils. I don’t recall if he mentioned much of those, just lightly touching on watercolor lol.
Idk what led to him doing his nails, idk if he had them before and I just didnt notice all I know is that its awesome XD
I'm guessing breast cancer awareness month?
@@magusofthelibrary I hope so
@@Mcv4520 yea, he said it in the pinned comment
He probably a fruit cake

I dont know why... But when I saw his nail painted barbie pink. It reminded me of that movie scene with Dwayne Jhonson with bublegum pink nails. 😂😂😂😂 that movie was hilarious and heart warming at the same time
I'd love to see this going into Round 2 to see what happens if u do ur best on the bristol bord and then trying to copy the same techniques for the cardridge paper ^^ i am just curious what would happen with the cardridge piece since u always said it wont work on that one :D

This would be the best way to see which paper is truly superior!
I second this!! My copic soft gray scale markers tear up cartridge paper trying to get detailed blends. Even in small areas.
$17 for 20 sheets = $1.10 per sheet
What kind of math is that? LMAO
Somebody swapped their numerator and denominator. But really though, how do you not catch that?
Man this was pretty sick looking. Very interesting comparison too. Its refreshing to see you doing something like paper rather than markers.
Would be kinda neat to see you do a pencil video, like mechanical vs traditional/ wooden, or maybe erasers, idk.
Woah ADC did you paint you nails?!? They look AMAZING!
No they dont
@@yzxz9012 what’s the problem I wasn’t talking to you bruh! This was five months ago
@@nmgarthouse1013 he's not wrong though. You're very easily impressed XD
Well they look beautiful
@@zwenkwiel816 yea they are literally just pink
Very pretty pink polish-thank you for drawing attention to this issue. Interesting comparison! I love Bristol paper. Just started with colored pencils and I love how smoothly the colors blend.
Oh my goodness, your nails are so nice! And this video made see printer paper differently, to appreciate it more. It was my go-to paper when I first started drawing when I was in first grade. I still use it when my sketchbooks aren't around or on hand
It is an indication that I am a nerd that I wanted to cheer when cartridge paper won.
This was Bob Plushie and I’s first video we watched together! I love him so much!! He’s so soft
Aww :) thank you!! Hope you enjoyed the show together.
@@ADCArtAttack absolutely!
his pink nails are so pretty

I just have this on my mind
Adc you paint your nails.......
Nice👍😁
This would make for an absolutely amazing PS5 shell artwork! Love the design!
Oh the cheap was a give in.
It’s the first paper most people learn on 🤷♀️👋🏼
I think comparing papers is just as interesting as comparing markers. I also think it would be interesting to compare which papers are better for pencils, charcoal, etc. As to which paper is better, I think it depends on the individual piece, how you want the finished piece to look, and the purpose of the piece.
Its .008 cents a piece of paper.
i also like the look of the cartridge paper most for this picture. BUT, its been really good to get your perspective on both. im nowhere close to considering myself an artist. i like to draw, trace and reference as well as colour on my iPad pro so don't have much experience with papers, but my 13yo loves drawing and colouring with her ohuhu markers. so as a dad who wants to encourage her art, i like this video format.
OMG i freaking love your dogggg
I had a hard time using markers on paper. I used to use various "marker paper". Well they were working but not for the style I usually go for. It usually bleeds through and gets a weird texture you can do nothing about not even colored pencils could help. They somethimes have an weird oily spot somewhere on the paper. even before I used the paper. I don't know if it's my fault or if it's the paper's fault. So I had to adapt my style to the paper and use less markers and more colored pencils, despite not like the outcome :c.
I believe I need to give bristol paper a try! seems like my style is much more suitable for britsol paper than marker paper.
Thank you for this video! I'm looking forward using it! :)
Kiba should have it's own CZcams channel! :)
Lol agreed
Love the pink nails. Knew from the get why you did that. Thanks for the support 👍🥰
I draw on Printer paper all the time. How hilarious.
On a couple of side notes, I love both your dog and nail polish!
I was literally waiting for your video to come out. Tnx for finally making my day bright.
I believe in a true comparison it’s best to be unfair. Max the capabilities of both sides. If the more expensive side allows you to give more detail, give more detail. Then we can truly see a difference. I’m not an artist so it would have been nice to see.
I would be so curious to see how the markers perform on something like the Neenah bristol vellum paper / cardstock, which would be a decent landing spot between the two you used. :)
Magnificent, informative, and very entertaining video, as always!
Absolutely love when Kiba comes in and totally disrupts you and your laugh. Having dogs myself I can totally relate. As a newbie I really enjoy your comparison videos and your coloring videos and the draw in your style, oh hell I like all of your videos.
I love watching your art video they make my day
Here in America Bristol paper is about 0.50 a sheet which is nice. I'm excited to see this series take off. I would love to see you use the paper for what it was designed for. For example, Bristol paper is also extremely good for graphite pencil, some would say it's the best because of the ability to push Graphite around
The Bristol paper is my favorite for finished pieces. The copy paper is best for rough unfinished work. You need to have them both. Excellent video
Perfect timing. I was just about to go nutsy trying to find a reference for today’s Inktober drawing. Definitely needed a break.
@Drawing With Dubs Thanks! I’ve never gotten more than halfway, so now comes the hard part.
@@Terrelli9 you got this my dude, my advice, make sure to have a couple of "lazy days", you just need rest sometimes
@@ogs5276 Thanks! That advice actually just gave me a better idea than the one I was going to go with.
@@Terrelli9 no problem, I've finished 2 years so far, and no matter how much you love it, you need a break/an easy day at some point
Ah I loved the format you used for this particular episode of cheap vs expensive! I thought the pre score was cool and wish you did a on-screen post score for each as well. I'd love to see more paper comparison cheap vs expensive content 🙂
Don't focus on what society and people think, nowadays anyone can express themselves by painting their nails, it's not just a girl thing. Guys that think a man painting their nails is less of a man are actually the ones with a fragile masculinity. I really respect you for doing this though despite what anyone says, it's a worthy cause that deserves more attention. Just last week I went and had the exam even though I was really scared of it, but thank goodness i'm alright, so I recommend other women to do the same, be safe everyone
I just love the Bristol board
All I ever used was printer paper for the longest time until I could afford to buy paper.
Since you were having trouble blending large areas on the bristol paper you should have worked in smaller sections and used a colorless blender more to fully blend the areas together. Next time you compare paper I would like to see you do the best possible job on the expensive paper then try to mimic it on the cheap paper. I believe it would be a better comparison if you didn't limit yourself to only doing what will reliably work on the cheap paper. Since you might as well just do a marker blending test instead of a full drawing if you are going to limit the test to the bare minimum you can do on the good paper just to allow the cheap paper a chance to look good. You shouldn't be giving the cheap paper handicap points, what's next you will only use dollar store markers on the expensive paper & your good markers on the cheap paper?
You colored a kids book once. It was great. My kid has a Marvel Coloring book called “Captain America Sentinel of Liberty and Many More Super Heroes”. It has the most poorly drawn pictures of Super Heroes I’ve ever seen. I would love to see a video where you color and fix some the pictures. Love your videos!
Kiba steals the show=D Amazing video as always=33
this video is the best example that you don't need expensive stuff to make good art, you just need to know how to work with what you have. but one important aspect (at least for me) is missing: you don't get paper cuts from thicker paper 😅
Haha kiba dog just took over! Btw I’m a paper fanatic and this was great! One thing I feel like a lot of other big art tubers overlook keep up the great stuff!
It's fun seeing the differences between expensive and cheap supplies. I like that your take is usually a little different than other artists on CZcams and that you explain what the product does so we can decide for ourselves whether those are qualities we are looking for. As a side note, you made a mistake in your math: $17 for 20 sheets is more like $0.85 per sheet, not $1.10. Still more expensive by a lot.
Killer video! Great flow! And just enough of you being the goofy guy we all love!!! Never lose the heart and soul brother!
Draw on everything! Whatever you got!
Love from the Pacific Northwest!!!
Amazing drawing
I love the video! I do think that you shouldn’t have held back on the Bristol board. If the purpose is to compare the capabilities of the papers, I think you should have pushed each type of paper to its limits. What is the highest quality of art/detail that each paper can handle?
I'll definitely have to rematch this in the future. I just wanted to cover the same points for both sides, but I'm aware that hurt to art results... I have no doubt on a MAX test playing to the strengths of Bristol, we would see a truly one sided result.
Ey man your German Sounds perfect? As if u are a waschechter Weißwurscht zutzla :D man this Baryon Mode looks hotter then my Girlfriend :D
Awesome video, I've always wanted to see a paper test review that wasn't just colouring in boxes 😀 great job 👍
I love the little 'quack' in the intro
0:41 - Tbf, Kiba always was trying to get in front of Naruto and now he seems to finally have managed it!! :D
Your art is inspiring
I would like to see the difference between mixed media paper and bristle paper, I've only been using mixed media, also another good comparison would be illustration paper against bristle paper thanks for the video! 💯
Everyone you may think that adc's art is the best ever and he never gets anything wrong but he probably has to go through a few retries until he gets a good result
Depends on the project, today's was a first go because I didn't care about the art, I was interested in the paper :)
That said, I've RARELY ever redone a drawing, you usually see my first tries :)
@@ADCArtAttack oh this comment was pointless lol
I watched you around 2 years back and i am so glad to come to this channel again
Just great artwork here!!!
Allright english voice is one octave higher than normal voice :D And now I just think of the bullshittery series from Sovietwomble every time he says paper xDD
I like how you support people that are fighting Breast Cancer. I respect you for respecting them if that makes sense. If anyone has a problem, they can go kick rocks.
I've always like these comparison vids it not only shows that you don't need expensive stuff to make but cheap can compete with expensive in some case.
Watching this vid I can understand why you would stay to same style for each to be a fair test......... but......
I would really like to see some like this paper vs paper but from the complete other side where you do you best work on both to show the full range of the paper.
As I said I know the fair test was done but I can't help but feel I would like to see what more detail you may have done if you was showcasing how much more detail you were able to fit into the drawing.
Food for thought, and cheers for all the great vids
I agree... I was torn between cresting good art, or focusing on a comparison of papers.
Had I went all out with Bristol board, I would not have covered key areas and avoided them to create a perfect piece. That was the ultimate deciding factor. But I would love to do one in a very serious way. Just for kicks
Nah I get the comparison ones and keeping them fair because it would be easy to put you own stamp on something and make it blow the cheap out of the water everytime. It is this factor that shows budding artists like myself that we can do art on cheap supply's so are very educational and definitely valid content to what you always show.
But... as I said I would like to see the otherside aswell to see how much more could be accomplished with know-how, experience and decent supply's. Man if you did it just for kicks most you could do on both papers I'd definitely be interested in viewing just to see..... how much you hold back and how much more could be accomplished on say yhe better paper.
Before I start this video. I'm going to say printer paper because I love to use it all the time when I'm sketching, and I like using smooth paper then use rough paper.
edit, I didn't realize that the expensive paper was smooth also, now that is a game changer.
edit 2, okay I will say one thing with the expensive paper, you can do a lot more with it then with the cheep one, however if I want to do just a quick sketch I don't want to use a $1.30 paper on it. so what I say is it depends on what I want to draw, if I want to draw with markers then I would use the expensive, but for quick sketching I'll go with the cheep.
PS. love your videos and I have an idea why not cheep vs expensive Ohohu markers vs Artify markers the reason why its that i have one for color and one for skin color but not vice versa.
PPS, I'm not a fan of Naruto but I will say this is an AWESOME drawing.
Honestly bro. I just like when you draw lolz. It doesn't matter what you're comparing.
That being said, Bristol for the win!
I love how your voice always drops an octave when you speak German.
Ich mache genau dasselbe!
I was also shocked that the printer paper won. But you can’t criticize the results.
I noticed the nails right away and thought maybe your wife was holding the paper during a voice over but now I know the rest of the story. Kudos for your support.
honestly the kind of uneven blending in some spots for the picture on the right makes for a really cool effect
I had a friend paint my nails pink a few years ago to support the fight against breast cancer. Screw the hate, it's for a good cause!
I really liked this series! Paper is always very important to compare especially for what you're using it for. It's especially good to see how the standard paper faired because some people don't even have access to higher grade paper depending on home location and what not. For me, personally, I usually choose a middle of the road mixed media paper. Gets what I need, didn't break the bank and if I wanted to mix coloured pencil in I could.
Gotta mention that your painted nails look fantastic as well!
"Berry-on mode" 😂 seriously this guy never fails to make me laugh! Love the content bro.
That drawing is a sick!🔥
Intro doggy!
Awesome drawing! It’s cool you mix things up when comparing you always give your honest opinion! 😃👍🏾
I'd suggest having a closer look at different rubber types. There's a huge range of erasers and performance varies dramatically. Different levels of removal, different types of shavings, colour or soft pencils, different levels of smearing, paper damage, and so on. I'm not an artist but I'd think the Prismacolour or Hwarang Art erasers might be a good choice. I personally like the Sakura Foam and Sakura Sumo erasers. Sakura also do an electric tool which rotates the eraser. I've always found it a silly concept but it would certainly make for a very precise application in art and likely a very thorough clean. Apparently its a little noisy, though.
Your nails look awesome, nice drawing toooo
Got to be honest I like both types of paper, love drawing on both of them as they have very different qualities for blend and colours. Keep up the good content my friend, love your work!
Those two are surprisingly close, and I'm glad that you tried to keep an even playing field between the two... And also commented about how bristol board does have choices involved (instead of making it out to be the wonder paper like some websites claim it is).
Very interesting video. And surprising results too. I look forward to further videos on this.
you are the best artist that i have seen on yt
17/20 isn't 1.10
LOOOL I calculated the other way 😅😅
Hello ADC ! Thanks for the video. It was interesting !! Not enough artists talk about paper. It is important because after all, it's part of the equation. The video with this theme was as fun as usual. You kept the same quality of expertise - if i may say - as you did in over video Cheap vs Expensive. Keep doing it, please ! We need more reference, more paper to learn about, learn to use too. Thanks again and see ya ! ~SmileAtV

Not being cheeky here... but I love your nails!
I actually like more the cartridge final result. But the face details in the right one it's amazing
Pink nail polish during BCA month, didn't even mention it, BOSS move
I can't answer which one I think would win the battle because my own very limited experience with markers just leaves me too many questions. I will say, speculatively, that I worry one paper will encourage more bleeding than the other. But that also makes me think about the variable of what markers you're using and how many miles you've already put on them. I'd be happy to see you just test each paper by making color patches with the markers on both of them and then look to see how the color is affected by the paper. While I was trying to find flesh toned markers for a project, I was using two different brands of paper as I experimented. I noticed that one paper made the same marker look a lot more pink than the other.
What's up with the nails lol, great art. Amazing talent super entertaining love you adc
I truly disagree about using lower quality surfaces. Yes an accomplished Artist can make wonderful Art on anything! If you want it to last, not yellow or fade you want to use quality papers or surfaces. Pencil and acrylic paints are the most forgiving mediums and work well on a variety of surfaces and quality of surface. I will say your markers do well too, but I have had issues in the past with them and do not consider them easy to use as other mediums! I enjoyed this video and I hope you use superior supplies as your art is wonderful and I would like it to last the years to come!
I think because you mimicked the cartridge paper coloring on the bristle one they turned out identical…. I believe that you can do much more on bristle board (add more effects and more color hues and so on)….. but i also think the point of this was to show that you don’t need premium paper to do amazing artworks and yes I completely agree
Edit: I should have watched the last couple of minutes first… you basically said exactly the same
Love the pink nails, and I used to have a Poodle named Kiba lol but he had a Heart of a Wolf! He survived a Pitbull attack, a car crash, and lived to be past 15 yrs of age 😂💙 he passed of very old age! I hope he was reborn as the tough Brave wolf he deserved to be! Lol 🤍🤍🤍 🐺
I think it's easy to see this is yet another example of how much more lies in the skill level and experience of the artist over the materials themselves and the premium each paper respectively commands at the marketplace. I, for one, was quite pleasantly surprised at how well the printer paper held up. It really goes to show how far anyone can get with paper that can be found most anywhere, and that you really don't need to sink obscene piles of cash into being successful creating - at least not after you're all spent out from assembling your own set of nice alcohol markers!*
I have a feeling we'll be seeing strikingly different results, though, once the water-based media comes out, though I'd love to see how some nice cotton and/or hot-pressed smooth textured substrate would compare, perhaps even against the Strathmore Bristol used in this video, since I've known of people using it with watercolors even though it's far from the best choice even at an identical price point. I don't think such a slot would be put to good use occupied by cartridge paper, as I think it's rather well documented the kind of sad pilling and buckling this and other kinds of cheap, lightweight paper (i.e. sketch, notebook, pencil-drawing) succumbs to once they get under water.
Well done here, my friend! Eagerly awaiting the installments ahead!
*I feel I must highlight the extent to which new offerings over the past year or so to the budget alcohol marker world have firmly challenged the high-dollar precedent set by your Copics and imitators that a good set of markers poses certain threat of utter ruination to your bank account (I'm looking at you here, Ohuhu!) - over, say, a similarly capable and diverse set of watercolor brush pens, in any combo of bristled/felt & single/dual tips. On that note, Arteza's new Everblend Ultra line might still be on sale at their website for an absolutely STUPID discount that varies by collection and nib configuration. How's $22~$40-ish for a set of 36 markers (chisel/fine-tip; MSRP $90) sound to you?! What's more, Arteza is one of the only major brands around to utilize a newly released brush nib configuration that -- just like the Super Brush Nib that elevated the Copic Sketch(/Ciao) to absolute juggernaut status -- employs a spun rubberized mesh crown affixed atop the imitation-brush tip, to give it the fray-proof durability, tighter ink throughput, and spongy bounce back to true that singlehandedly commands the signature Copic premium at checkout from those who appreciate it. This simple variation in material is exactly what sets these fully apart as their own entity, distinct from cheaper (these days, hardly by much!) counterparts that sacrifice durability, accuracy, flow-rate, and stain-free blending capability by cutting costs with the 100% high-density felt that makes for the typically good, but hardly *ever* excellent(!) nibs one can find at the apex of damn near ALL the other alcohol markers out there. Treat yourself to some on the cheap while the market is hot!
Another incredible video!!!!! Really really liked this one 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Me who came from Germany almost chocked on my tea when I heard that perfekt German. Yeah I know you live in Germany but never know you speak that well :D
I like the way plain paper works. There are different qualities of cartridge paper but in my own opinion, I'm not a fan of the bleeding from the markers so my personal choice is Bristol paper when working with markers. I love your art in this video. Very cool and you make using the cartridge paper easy and very pro like. Nice work.
I think you must have very good skills to handle the cheap paper... as you do 💜
