  • Jay Shetty sits down with Dr. Rangan Chatterjee to talk about the core of happiness. There is a huge difference between success and happiness, oftentimes we confuse the two as one and the same. One can be successful in their job, career, business, and family life, but can be unhappy. We need to learn the core of happiness to genuinely enjoy life by appreciating our past self, our current life, and the future we all look forward to having.
Dr. Rangan Chatterjee is regarded as one of the most influential medical doctors in the UK and wants to change how medicine will be practiced for years to come. He hosts the biggest health podcast in the UK and Europe, ‘Feel Better, Live More’. He can simplify complex health advice so people can feel better and live more. Dr Chatterjee is known for finding the root cause of people's health problems and he highlighted his methods in the ground-breaking BBC television show, Doctor in the House.

Dear Rangan.. .U guys are both great.. I appoligise for my comment, as I have not heard the whole interview to the end--- U mentioned also Edith, Gandi and all people who went through hell of war, prison, poverty etc.. As I am from war turmoiled country, I find it harder for people with PTST to feel happy or even successful... But you are so so right, so much is about the mindset and stories we talk to ourselves... And so much is about our inner decisions.... LOVE U GUYS SO MUCH...

This conversation sparked hope in me that all doctors don’t practice from medical model, because of a lot doctors work in a mechanical way with their patients and don’t think outside the box. They mostly link the ailments with physical subject and discount the fact that a lot of diseases manifest from the person’s frame of mind. This is like medieval education in contemporary words. Thank you Dr Chaterjee

We must learn to DIM the mind and brighten our hearts. Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is 10x more powerful than Intellectual Intelligence (IQ). What if we lived in a world were the ‘Smartest’ people in the world were actually the dumbest. We’ve been taught to use our brains more than our hearts and we wonder why there's suffering in the world. This world is reversed. Do the opposite of what ‘they’ tell you to do. The heart is the first organ to grow in the body. Follow your heart and use your intellect as a co-pilot to assist the heart.

Thank you, Jay, for all of the hard work you did for us, I following you from the beginning of your career and I'm listing all the time you are one of the kind and I love what you do, I shared your podcast with my client and talked about it with my friends, in a dark moment of my life you helping me without knowing and Thank you for that.
but I want to remember one thing, its nothing wrong with eating ice cream and having a moment with your partner in front of the TV it's not gonna stop us from having a happy life.
sure sugar is not healthy but all the perfection people looking for getting them under pressure. I was one of them and still struggling but I know what I'm doing bad or good I'm trying to find myself and my pace in every moment of my life to be present and enjoy every moment, maybe it looks stupid but some times one phrase get my nerve because like you said you love chocolate and you know its not good for your but you still doing it, not always but you give permission to your self to enjoy the moment.

What a beautiful podcast! Thank you Jay and Dr Rangan. I was aligned with everything you mentioned. I could connect to all those stories Dr Rangan has mentioned… his Dad’s work life or their immigrant mentality of his mum asking him why not 100%… loved the way he said about writing a happy story in our minds and mentioning about how inspired he was with Dr Edith Eger or writing different stories about empty toilet rolls in supermarket during COVID. Also loved the way Jay putting together how they both say the same things using different words and how important it is to spread the message by different people. Loved every bit of the conversation. Thank you for the wonderful podcast.

Remarkable person reading this.. It’s going to get better; all it is a season of opportunity to grow and be better than before. Challenging times are meant to strengthen us, not to break us. Success doesn’t define to what happened to us; it is how we choose to deal with our circumstances. The more you grow and develop as an incredible person as you are, the more things will change for the better. Forgive more (for you), be grateful for even the smallest things (we have it way better than someone else), choose love over ego, choose humility over ego (humility is strength), and finally, invest into new skills so that your future self will thank you. Our lives will change forever the more we grow. Be thankful for the challenges for we know something greater is coming. Love you always - Nathalie ✨❤️

I love Jay... Anyway it is not easy for a single mother -or widow with four kids in a third world country, no alimony to be happy or feel successful... We all talk about mindset, society? What about environment? All these advices come from well incomed successful *happily married* educated people with no or one two kids (like Jay and Rangan).. It is easier for some people to be happy... It is harder for a poor boy in India or Egypt to go after success of happiness... I love them dearly, but I want to hear from someone born super poor, in broken family and regime or war turmoiled country, not given access to education and food, to speak about happiness...

I have a question - the Dr said that we should put ourselves in another’s situation ( with their background and history) and realize that we might respond similarly to the way they respond in a situation and therefore have compassion and empathy for them. What about if you know that their behavior is not acceptable to us ( or, even on a broader scale, to humanity)? How are we to respond to them, even if we try to understand, empathize and act with compassion, but still feel/know that their behavior is hurtful, dismissive and perhaps unacceptable? Are we to just to accept the behavior and them even if it hurts us or causes us pain?
