- In a hushed courtroom, a prosecutor read a heart-wrenching statement written by a 9-year-old kidnapping victim. Her simple yet powerful words were directed at her kidnapper's sentencing. The little girl was riding her bike in an upstate New York campground when she went missing. Her kidnapper delivered a ransom note demanding $50,000. The fingerprints on the note led authorities to Craig Ross Jr. He was sentenced to 47 years to life behind bars.
Now he will be kidnapped for 47 years
Except he isn't a victim
That doesn’t make sense. You’re not kidnapped when you go to prison.
@Justin-uc8sc its a joke kid
Do you mean he will eat three times a day, read books, watch 📺 and get his PhD while the girl is traumatized for life?

I’m so happy he got 47 years and not 2-3 years behind bars. He could’ve gotten more though.
I've never heard of a case like this being handled so fast. He went from arrest to sentencing in seven months. I'm not complaining. Just pointing out that such cases usually take over a year, even if the defendant wants to enter a plea immediately.

He pleaded gulity to kidnapping and SA. They found her inside a cabinet inside his trailer. He also sent her family a $50,000 ransom note. She's alive, but what he did to her will live with her forever.
Lock him up for the rest of his life to protect other kids. He is a monster
Yeah. I agree. I’ve seen too many cases where child abduction and SA got ridiculously short sentences. It’s good to see a lengthy sentence. Usually we hear about them because the man got out and did it again. People who do that should never get out and he won’t considering his age.

Pure evil and pure greed.
peace out homeboy, you will NOT be missed
How can you erase trauma memories? God help this young girl overcome and become an advocate for others.
Ayahuasca
Trauma can erase memories because when you go through extreme trauma your mind can block out or forget certain details to protect you from the trauma. It’s kinda a defense mechanism for some people but this can be bad too if you need to recall details of the incident to report it.
You can’t, they will be with her til the day she is dead, I have trauma from when I was little from being abused, and I still remember it, sadly it never goes away. People can overcome it and go on with their lives, but some part of them will remember it 💔
This is too lenient. Every breathe he draws is further insult to her injury. His every breath dishonours every victim, living and dead. Shame on our society.
Times like these is when I was in prison, to meet up with him, and provide justice.
He had no emotion in that court room. Good thing he'll spend the rest of his life behind bars.
You know damn well that 9 year didn't write that.
Maybe not the 9 year olds in your family but the ones I know could write that or something very like it.
Right?! Im pretty sure that "haunting" statement is a literary technique that no 9 year old would know. Even by accident.
Folks, everyone who gives a victim impact statement gets help from lawyers or other people for effective wording. The point is to get the victim’s feelings across and that’s what was accomplished here.
I also noticed when the mother was reading her statement, she had a very similar phrase, I don't understand why people like you do the things you do

47 years at 47. I'm sure he's concerned about prison, and not the 9-year-old. Thankfully he won't make it to parole since he will likely die in prison, and thankfully he did a poor job at hiding the girl.
That little girl sounds so mature
Thank God she is safe now
Why does that courtroom look like that? Never seen one that way.
Depends on what he did after the kidnapping, but you'd think kidnapping alone would not be 47 years, especially if his motive was money rather than sick fantasies.
From what I know and have seen, unfortunately, sexual trauma isn't taken as seriously as financially motivated crimes. The punishment always falls short when defending children and women. Men think the violence only lasts as long as their assault, but in truth it lasts forever in their victims hearts and minds. Our law makers need to seriously go back to the drawing board and start from scratch with these outdated laws. Not just adjusting the wording slightly every time they figure out it's not good enough yet.
To be honest, they made it sound like she was raped but if its just kidnapping and ransome, i feel 47-Life years is to excessive @duckykittn
He pleaded gulity to kidnapping and SA. He'd also sent the family a $50,000 ransom note.
Life...period!
I've never understood why parents let their small young kids travel out and about alone... but of course I'm a karen for thinking that. Its one thing if they're older but a small 9 year old alone?... I personally wouldnt be comfortable with that.
Is it sad I was somewhat relieved to hear he was trying to ransom her for money as opposed to what my initial thought was for why he kidnapped her?
When you get kidnapped and don't know if you'll survive, you grow up hella fast.
Man’s stupid for leaving his fingerprints on that note, that’s the main reason they were able to catch him!

I get it, but journalistic integrity is looooong dead. This isn’t even an egregious example of opinionated reporting. For over 25 years or so now news has been geared towards emotional response verses the stating of facts. It’s the major factor as to why this country is so harshly divided.

"This monster is hearing the words of the little girl he abducted."
I mean, I don't disagree with the sentiment, but using language like that as a journalist is incredibly unprofessional. Not that I expect much different from Inside Edition, but still.
Journalism died a long time ago.
But he was convicted in a court of law. The crime he committed makes him a monster.
Who tf cares man it’s inside edition the point was made there’s no need to critique a passing statement
Is he not a monster? that language is definetly not out of line. Its not a curse word or slur
@@PeterSramka "Monster" is a moralistic term. If he's been convicted, then call him what he was convicted of-a "kidnapper." Just because you and I would agree that the term "monster" is colloquially appropriate to describe him, doesn't mean it's an appropriate word for a journalistic organization to use. That would be like if a judge wrote a legal document calling the defendant a "douchebag," or a doctor referring to an overweight patient as a "lardass." You just don't do it as a professional. It shows you aren't serious about your work, because professionals ALWAYS have to maintain a degree of impartiality, objectivity, and emotional distance from the subject of their work.
