  • Hi everyone. It happened. We all finally got COVID. Luckily both Stan and I are vaccinated and boosted so our symptoms were mild. These are some of the times we did to treat our symptoms at home.
    If only one of us were sick then we would have that one person isolate in their room. If it was just the parent who were sick, then we would have worn our mask the whole time around the kids.

    Oh gosh that cut of London crying on the floor while Stan closes the door on him hahaha wishing your family a fast recovery, Dr. Le! I, too, have managed to avoid getting sick during most of the pandemic but Omicron is no joke. Alike Stan, my symptoms were mild but definitely manageable and I hope they don’t get anymore severe than what you guys are experiencing. The fisherman’s friend menthol lozenges were a life saver for my incessant cough and I swear by it!

    I have covid right now. Right after going through some really serious stuff. I mean in the middle of so many difficult things. It’s legit crazy, but leave it to someone like you to have a vid to save the day. So yeah, thankyou. And as usual your kids as much as they must be a crazy handful are so adorable and you are such a good mom.

    Dr Le, I’m glad y’all doing fine - we all in house got it as well 😫thankfully it’s over ( me fully vaccinated had the worst - headaches, back pain , body aches horrible congested, lost almost 90% smell and some of taste) anyhow end up w/2000mg antibiotic due to sinus and ear infections- finally just starting feeling better - since we’r over it when will be safe to get buster or vaccinations?

    • @drjennale
      @drjennale  Před 2 lety +1

      Oh no! Glad you all are feeling better. Accounting to the CDC, as long as you are passed the acute illness phase - you can get vaccinated / boosted if it’s been 6 months since you completed the primary two doses. And as long as you haven’t had any steroids because it blunts the immune response.

    Do you think there is a link between blood type and Covid? I am O+ and had the alpha Covid (March 2020) but was pretty much asymptomatic minus a low grade fever and didn’t know until my antibody test was performed a month after I possibly contracted it at a basketball game. Now my mom and brother have what I believe is omicron (both unvaccinated) and have been symptomatic for 2 weeks today. My mom is B+ and I’m not sure my brother’s type. I have a younger brother in the same household and we are both negative, he isn’t vaccinated but I am. Once they get better I plan to take them all to be vaccinated. Continued prayers for you and your family to get better. 🙏🏾

    • @drjennale
      @drjennale  Před 2 lety +1

      Hope you family has a speedy recovery. We haven’t seen any correlation with blood type yet. At least, haven’t seen any studies being done. There’s also so many different factors like medical history and Comorbidities that we can’t just say it’s down to blood type.

    Is it just as effective to put the swab on the tip of the noise vs way in the back where it feels like your brain is being tickled?

    • @drjennale
      @drjennale  Před 2 lety +2

      It’s better to do it deeper because you get a better sample that way. A lot of the times, a false negative is due to not getting a good enough sample. I probably could have gone further in with Wyatt but I didn’t want to traumatize him. Apparently still have enough virus to get a positive test though 🥴

    • @drjennale
      @drjennale  Před 2 lety +1

      Oh no! Hope you’re feeling better. You can actually test positive for a while. We’ve seen this in the hospital when people have more severe disease. We’ve also seen that omicron has a higher reinfection rate. Generally speaking, you can continue to test positive but should not be infectious past 10 days.

    Oh no that isn't good and hope you all recovered from covid. Can you do a video on all the least covid updates. Hubby constantly exposed each week at the center he teaches young early ed students and rested negative. I question will covid go away and why treatment is haunted. Also why since start of pandemic those who truly got covid pneumonia went on a ventilator?

    • @drjennale
      @drjennale  Před 2 lety +2

      There are some medications not for COVID but it if very limited. For example University of Washington (major hospital) only has 100 doses Paxlovid. We just don’t have the supply right now. But we still believe that an oz of prevention is worth a pound of treatment, hence vaccines.
      Some people with COVID pneumonia are still going on ventilators, requiring oxygen, etc. the majority of these people are unvaccinated. We saw this specifically with the delta variant because it replicated more in the lungs. Omicron more so in the upper airway but still many hospitalizations given how fast it’s being transmitted.

    Does covid damage the cranial nerve one and that's why people lost their taste and smell?
    Btw I saw someone that lost vision in one eye bcuz of covid. Is it possible? :O

    • @drjennale
      @drjennale  Před 2 lety +2

      The virus had deposit in the nerve and that’s why we suspect that happens with the headaches and changes in taste and smell. As for vision loss, COVID also significantly increases your risk of clot/stroke. So having a stoke in a part of the brain can cause vision loss!

    I didn't know it was okay to use Flonase just for a non allergy illness, I tried it on my own after a bad lingering cold once and noticed it really helped and now if I get sick I start right away on it and normally it doesn't get bad. Now I don't feel as much of a drug abuser for doing that lol
