- Here is the presentation of the relatively low-budget solution of obtaining a virtual organ. Of course the price of Hauptwerk Advanced and a suitable PC and audio arrangement cost money. But I saved money on keyboards, pedals, and housing.

My late Father, who was an amateur organist, would have loved this, and he was the type who would buy an old organ console, or build one himself, and put something like this together for himself.
Me, if I hadn't known that it was a virtual organ, I could have sworn it was a real pipe organ. Not bad, for three cheap keyboards, a second-hand pedal board, some wood and a computer! Thumbs definitely Up!

OK, met Hauptwerk kun je het zo goedkoop en zo duur maken als je zelf wilt. Als je een simpel keyboard hebt en een doodgewone PC met de gratis versie van Hauptwerk waar al een orgel(tje) bijgeleverd wordt, kun je al aan de slag met een koptelefoon aangesloten aan de PC. U bent mij een stap voor wat het volumepedaal betreft.Heb sinds jaren een zelfbouw orgel met Hauptwerk maar van een pedaal heb ik altijd afgezien omdat ik géén idee
heb waar ik dat via midi zou moeten aansluiten. U blijkbaar wel, advies zou zéér welkom zijn.
In mijn youtube vertel ik over de midificering met spulletjes van Nico Goes (Gino-MIDI). In een halve dag gemidificeerd en werkend
This is amazing. I have a huge Fiztmaurice sub woofer and when you hit those low notes it is incredible. I wonder if you have considered adding the foot pedals to the Tyros 5 Yamaha. I guess you would have to use separate voicing for the ultra low notes. I don't think the tyros 5 has those super low registers.

Very nice design. Have you ever had latency problems between the moment you strike the keys and the onset of the sound?
Yes, in the beginning I had latency problems, but they were gone after installing the ASIO driver of Windows. But after getting the Roland Octacapture I installed the Roland Asiodriver and all works fine. The latency is approx. 10ms now, which is un-noticable.

Hi Fred. How did you come by the pedalboard ? It's the one thing that's difficult to acquire (for a reasonable price), and it's the one and only info you completely left out of your presentation....
Hello, I found it on "Marktplaats", a second-hand and other selling website. (www.marktplaats.nl/verkopers/646167.html) and it came from a Johannes or Roland organ, only the pedal board without electronics. In the video you see how I midified it (after cleanup and varnish the pedals)

Alfredo Tagayun Hallo, aangezien mijn MIDI keyboards allemaal USB uitgang hebben, heb ik voor het pedaal een MIDI-USB verloopkabeltje gekocht en ook op de USB-hub aangesloten. Hauptwerk herkent meteen de klavieren en het pedaal. Ik overweeg binnenkort Fatar klavieren aan te schaffen en dan moet ik de Small-MIDI vervangen door Big-MIDI.

Do I need to purchase Hauptwerk to play this? I do not trust sound forge sites for grandorgue because it is malware.
Hello, it depends on what you want. I know organists who use GrandOrgue. and it will also work. I purchased Hauptwerk since it has a lott bigger marketshare and community of users, that are much more organ sample-sets, also free sample-sets for Hauptwerk than for Grandorgue. So if you have trouble or need some help, there is the Hauptwerk forum, there is a great Dutch forum. Disadvantage of Hauptwerk: it is not freeware, but a one time investment. As you can see on my channel I now have many beautiful sample-sets of which maybe one or two is available on Grandorgue.

The keyboard keys are having slightly more weight than on a normal keyboard but not the weight of organ keyboards. Therefore I am soon replacing the keyboard for Fatar keyboards with organ 'touch'. I had to save money for it, since I get no sponsors to obtain them sooner :)

Sorry, ik was onduidelijk maar bedoelde de aansluiting van de Behringer FCB 1010, de twee pedalen voor (naar ik aanneem oa volume).
Die zijn allebei via een MIDI-to-USB verloopkabel aangesloten op de USB HUB

I have three usb keyboards. Two 61 key keyboards for the manual and one 32 key for the pedal. I made a pedalboard and connected the pedalboard to the 32 key midi keyboard using strings. So for all the computer can see, it is just another usb keyboard.
My question is, do i need any midi or audio interface to connect this setup to hauptwerk?
No. Modern midi keyboards only use USB to send midi signals to pc. You will also need VST, but it is already built-in to hauptwerk.

I connected the keyboards to hauptwerk and the software was able to see all the usb components without any midi/audio interfaces!!
A bit late, but if you use an audio interface with asio driver, you can reduce latency of the sound. If latency is not a problem, you don't need this.

Ja, ik heb het orgel nog steeds, maar met nu kwaliteits klavieren met toetsen van ebbehout en de halve noten van kersen hout. Ook mijn PC helemaal upgrade gegeven om 64 GB te kunnen gebruiken als RAM geheugen

Wat je nodig hebt is een PC met goede CPU, en relatief veel RAM geheugen (als je grotere sample-sets wilt gebruiken, verder heb je klavieren en pedaal met MIDI nodig, Nico Goes (www.gino-midi.nl) heeft electronica om het hele handeltje aan elkaar te knopen. Verbinden van de MIDI naar de PC gaat via MIDI-to-USB converterkabel
I have a Prophet 10 synthesizer I have to get rid of in order to build a Hauptwerk system like this. Does anyone want to buy one? These synthesizers are very rare but don't know if there is any interest.

Hoeveel kost de sample en de pc met monitoren?
Hoi Maarten, dat hangt af van je wensen. Ik heb intussen mijn PC tweemaal verbouwd. De vraag is welke sample-sets wil je gaan gebruiken. Met Dudelange en Urecht kon ik prima met 32GB RAM uit de voeten, maar voor het Sonnenorgel of Fleiter orgel, Dom Billerbeck heb je het dubbele nodig als je met meerdere kanalen wilt werken. Door eigen upgrade kon ik voor ca. 1000 Euro mijn huidige PC configuratie bouwen (64GB DDR4 RAM, RVME SSD 1 TB en tweede SATA SSD 1TB) Betreft Monitoren: de ene is nog mijn oude Philips Brilliance en de andere heb ik erbij gekocht omdat het een touch screen heeft, wat voor registreren natuurlijk handig is. Twee van dergelijke monitoren heb je voor onder de 500 Euro.
