    You point on lay a stroke, reload, stroke etc makes great sense and I'm guilty of multiple touches. And, one brush. Wow..which one? I agree about still life objects. Grab it, paint it. Thx.

    I love to see paintings such as this. When we choose photography to capture for example the same oranges(easy object, nothing fancy everybody can do it, it can be tricky for us to give it some life), we have to decorate the feeling we give with digital instruments. That is the fascinating thing about painting, the feel to our work, the senses come from the palm of our hand. We design the effects. Thus we see it the most in paintings such as this. I hope it is somehow understandable, what I meant. 😄

    • @brennerfineart
      @brennerfineart Před 4 lety

      @@chamberlainpaintings Yeah, pratice makes you better :-) It`s like with anything else in life - you need to DO IT to improve, simple as that ;-) And the size...oh dear...I know this problem...had to force myself, too, to go bigger again, too after working on too many REALLY small pieces...I started with some underwater paintings...so the space you have to fill with detail is not THAT big ;-) Already have some 40x48 inch canvases lurking here in my studio...will not take too long until they hop on my easel ;-)))))))))

Would you ever consider doing a video where you critique some paintings that students or even other plein air artists can submit? After watching your video on Ciallebotte I'd love to hear your opinion on some contemporary works. Could be super interesting and helpful, I love getting feedback from other working artists.
