Totally agree with doing interviews regularly, even when you're not looking to switch jobs. I'm doing at least one every 6-12 months and it keeps you used to the interview atmosphere, but also, you get great feedback about how you're doing in terms of skills, what you might be missing to get hired for a higher level role, etc.

Like you said, your network is a valuable source to find a new job or contract. I’ve also been part of a big layoff one year ago. One of my colleagues suggested me at her new place, she knows my qualities and could easily sell me there.

YEs layOff is crisis for person, But look at etymology of this word. The English word crisis was borrowed from the Latin, which in turn was borrowed from the Greek κρίσις krisis 'discrimination, decision, crisis'.[1] The noun is derived from the verb κρίνω krinō, which means 'distinguish, choose, decide' (From Wiki). It's just making a decision

You can do interviews and even get offers, but when the company closes the project, the team is fired.
Layoff has been announced and last month's positions are finished.
A few thousand developers on the local market looking for new jobs make things hard.
É pena tudo isto que tem acontecido com a Farfetch. Os trabalhadores é que saem sempre a perder nisto tudo enquanto que o CEO safou-se. No meio disto tudo o que é que vai acontecer a todos a bibliotecas opensource que tens promovido?

Funny or not, back in 2015 or 16 it’s already a long time.
I was interviewing for Farfetch when my previous company did a layoff round in my business unit, lucky I was only a couple of weeks unemployed and then I was in the company for almost 6 years and grown so much.
Like they say, when a door closes a window may open :)

Today if you lose your job you are more happy that to work, there is a lot of silent quitting. I see a lot of burnout.
