  • Fukanzazengi, Universally Recommended Instructions for Zazen, by Eihei Dōgen (1200-1253). The translation is by Taigen Dan Leighton and Shohaku Okumura. It is read aloud for the benefit of those who have difficulty with reading for any reason. The text itself is available here: antaiji.org/en/classics/fukanz...
You can also find it in the print volume of Eihei Kōroku (Dōgen’s Extensive Record): / 672523.dogen_s_extensi...
Mike Chodo Cross gives a commentary on the text here: www.zen-occidental.net/enseign...
Jundo Cohen's book The Zen Master's Dance also has an excellent chapter on Fukanzazengi: wisdomexperience.org/product/...

Wonderful Kokuu. I will save this to listen often, there are fundamental points from Dogen's teachings that I feel I wish to come back to. Gassho for your work🙏🏻

I think this text is so good that it bears repeated reading/listening. I used to try to read it every month but have got out of the habit.

Thank you so much for this reading. You have a very great and soothing voice through this. It is very instructive to listen to this many times a day for them in my car or when I’m walking it helps keeping me focused on the here and now thank you again . My original training is in tai chi and she gong and Taoism and then Buddhism definitely shares many many similarities

Thank you, Steven! Opinions seem to be divided on my voice but I am no professional!
Tai Chi and Qi Gong are great practices. Zen is what happened when Buddhism came to China and met Taoism. There is a lot of influence there and many of us have a great fondness for Taoist writings such as the Tao Te Ching.

You have a very smooth voice :) I've been trying to do some readings here on youtube, but my voice is not calming like yours! :(

You reading sounds lovely to me! Thank you for doing those. I will link to your channel.
I think we are all overly critical of our own voices. I am not fond of listening to mine.

You have done a lot of readings in a short time! That's great! I need to get back to my readings of Dogen.
