Slinging Techniques for Shotguns/Rifles

  • In this video Jeremy Stafford discusses two of his favorite slinging techniques for long guns equipped with a standard strap sling.
He is slinging a shotgun, but these techniques will work with any standard-sling-equipped long gun.
A good slinging technique should be secure while also allowing reasonably fast deployment of the firearm. Mastering these two techniques will give you options regardless of whatever adventure you find yourself in.
Remember, always follow the safety rules when practicing your slinging techniques!

I am a left arm amputee. It be nice if you would make some recommendation, I have several hand guns and take them all apart and clean them with no problem, same as handling them in any situation. My carrying pistol is a 20 year old Kimber Ultra Carry II wilth one in the Chamber and two Willson Combat 8 rounds magazines.
I am also a retired 68 yo HVAC contractor.

If the sling was attached lower on the mag tube the muzzle would be above your back shoulder and would draw faster.Don't like the end of the barrel sitting that low.

Agree and I think he has way too much slack in his sling. Should be about spread pinky to thumb width from weapon to sling. Appleseed basics.

I hate to question your experience as I highly respect and appreciate your service, but it seems like a bad idea to have your sling dangling vs wrapped around your body. Doesn't that just give the threat a handle to pull your weapon away from you? Slings are to aid with retention, right?

I have a short stock shotgun by Charles Daly called the Honcho which has two sling attachment points one at the end of the magazine cap and the other is a sling plate affixed between the rear end of the receiver and the short stock grip. What do you recommend for a sling and what use techniques would you advise?

looks like too many steps and too much room for mistakes and accidents. This may work for you but Id rather mount a different sling a different way and eliminate these 25 step procedures that require lots of training, muscle memory and are much slower and more likely for a negligent discharge.

Gee I wonder if he does instructions on how to put on a t-shirt? Respectfully if you have to dumb it down this much simplicity like you're addressing a 10 year old maybe that person who you are instructing shouldn't own a firearm... Just sayin'.

I find it interesting that he is explaining how he carries it for crowd control in Iraq and against Americans 🤔 Americans must be a lot more dangerous than Iraq people . That must be y r government gave the Iraq people millions of dollars worth of military equipment, but put limits on how many shells can be in r magazines. I find his video disturbing
