  • Got home from the store and they forgot to take off my ink tag! I figured the Internet could help, but couldn't find one for this specific kind. So here's how to do it if you have the same dilemma.

Thank you ! Bought a pair of shorts from Australia back to New Zealand and didn’t realise the tag wasn’t removed till I got back home . I wasn’t gonna fly 4 hours all the way back to Australia so glad this method worked

Used a dremel to cut a square around the metal plug. Cap pulled off easy then i just snipped the pin with wire cutters. Just be careful if using a dremel not to go in deep or you will cut the fabric of the item. Mine was slightly cut but it was only the strap on a backpack that i bought online. Not sure why it wasn't de tagged but i am away on holiday friday so could not return it in time.
It may be safer to slide a butter knife in to the gap before you dremel that way if you go in too deep it will contact the blade and not the item. You'll know once you hit metal.

It is much easier to melt the middle of the ink side of the tag. Then the little spring and the ball bearings pop right out and the whole thing disconnects. No need to cut or drill anything.

    Thanks for the video.
But people!! When cutting the wire be careful not to cut the fabric also!!
I was so paranoid about this step i ended up just wedging the top off the other side (ink side), then easily cutting it from there.
(I'm now curious as to how the people at the shop get them off.. LOL)

Good point! You definitely have to make sure the fabric is pulled away! I think the store has a magnet system they use, but all not sure.

Can't get to the non-inked side on my coat because it must have been strategically placed. Thanks for the heads up on the inks location, I think I will use a drill that way I can avoid the ink 👌

easier just to file at the metal pin and it when you see it's outline with the metal ring round it just tap it with a small punch and it pops open.

That's a good idea. I didn't have anything to file it with though.
