Yeah, but let’s consider how it reflects him. Plants represent growth and new life, showing him recovering from being Flowey. The thorns on the vines could reflect how he’s very defensive.

So going by Asgore and Toriel's logic of describing what their magic represents...
Vines. The obvious choice is Flowey - he was in that soulless form for so long, it eventually got seeded (bah dum tssss) into his soul. But let's take another look at it. Vines, like any plant, grow (could I be more obvious?). Growth represents many things, but I think for Asriel, it's his growth out of the past. He's trying to outgrow his memories of Chara and of being Flowey. Also, vines represent perseverance. Try cutting down a part of a vine, check in a few weeks later, and a new one's already replaced it. Asriel's small sword could represent the flowers of a vine - most of them have smaller blooms. His current incapability at fire magic should be obvious now - vines and flames don't mix well. Edit: Suggested by DragoNet661, the thorns could be a sort of defense mechanism, a warning to stay back.
But that's just my theory.

I actually wonder if maybe it was the other way around. In the context of the growthspurt AU, maybe there was a reason he turned into a _flower_ of all things after losing his soul. Perhaps he turned into a flower because that reflects his personality. _Something_ had to keep Asriel alive without a soul after all, so why not magic? With that in mind, maybe his magic would've still been plantlike even without his experiences as Flowey, as it reflects him. Perhaps that's simply always been a part of him.
But that's just food for thought.

OMG finally. This might actually be my favorite Undertale AU. Not just because Asriel is my favorite character from the game, but because it humanizes (ironically) each character we've come to know and love, in particular the Dreemurr family.

Can’t wait for the ark where Asriel reaccepts Chara despite their misplaced ideals and comes to terms with being Flowey.
I also love this au particularly because it for one let's tori realize that she has not been a good person and neither has asgore, but also doesn't skip over the process and shows the hardship of realizing it!
I agree. And to be honest. I thought I would hate this AU. I thought it was just going to be some dorky comedy with Azzy as an anxty teenager, who the world just doesn't understand. Okay, he has some atitude, but it isn't over dramatized. He went through hell, and is just trying to understand his life now.
This one (and unpleasant) show that really well. That he's trying to fit in, that he's trying to get past his, well past. He also gets a bit of a pass with the attitude. The things he did are well beyond anything we really can understand. Accept Frisk, who he can acrually relate to. And this AU really plays with that. The fact that Frisk can insult him one second, joke with him the next, and even cuddle when he needs physical contact for suport speaks volumes on how well written all these characters are.
And there's no sans for once. (I know I'm late)

The flowers ment that Asriel is a calm and peaceful person but it also means that he has a few flower problems to get over.

Maybe it represents kindness because asriel show kindness to chara but has a side of being kinda weak because people can accidentally step on plants in the game that sword aka dagger shows his friendship with chara
The flowers represent his serene personality, but the vines and roots also shows that he's ignored his problems and let them run rampant rather than just taking the time to tame them. Even the thorns say a little something, too. People gravitate toward his personality, but the closer they get, the greater the chance that his problems, the thorns, will hurt them emotionally, and it hurts him, too.
Aldo, it could have something to do about his past being ' you know who ' he doesn't wanna be that anymore, and who can blame him

I am falling in love with this comic dub.
The voices are well-acted with strong emotion
The characters dont just get over their pain or guilt and they have to actively work on it like any trauma survivor.
I do hope frisk gets more development because they certainly aren't innocent, even if they never did a geno run the fact that flowey killed them in excess of several thousand times means they went through many neutral runs. And if they did go geno then how do they cope with literally ending all existance, something even flowey never did.
JEL625 You can still do pacifist and fight flowey but Frisk should have at least done 1 neutral run which would be his first run.
He did do a Genocide run but deleted the game files and started a new game, I don’t remember which video it was though but I know it’s in Growth Spurt

Those were basically all an eight year old's idea of what really cool attacks should be. In the context of this AU this is a very reasonable explanation (plus the fact that all the souls he took were full of love for frisk/didn't really want to kill him)

The way I see it, the plant power actually suits Asriel nicely. Some may think it represents his past, but I believe it means growth. He is growing as a person, slowly accepting himself.

Maybe...that’s why Asriel couldn’t kill us in his battle, he forced his magic, and throughout the battle, it started growing weaker, allowing us to SAVE him.
I don't think many know this, but in my Pathfinder game, Slick plays a Druid. So seeing the magical plants come up made me smirk. XD
