I guess it's ethical to monitor employee activity when only they know about it and give their consent. Besides, in my company, we use TMetric to track work hours and log all websites and apps we visit while working.

Employee monitoring is great until a manager or someone who can use it against the employee starts abusing it. I work at Kaiser Permanente and there is so much abuse due to jealousy, hatefulness or bullying that it chases away good employees all the time. Management could care less. They will tell you they care, but their actions tell you otherwise.
Healthcare is one of thee most toxic work environments. Its a shame because it’s supposed to be worked by people who are ethical and caring but a good amount of workers are toxic and only in it for the money
