    Love the LSA build. I have 3 suggestions.
    1. Have you considered a breather to get rid of crankcase pressure now that the engine is boosted?
    2. You can buy higher flowing 3/4” ZL1 lid manifolds from places like Dedicated Motorsports with AN fittings and put 90 degree fittings on for the cleaner hose running look that you are looking for.
    3. On cars like my LSA 416ci CST-V, I run the blower coolant tank to pump, pump to bottom of lid brick manifold, top of lid brick manifold to the intercooler, from intercooler back to the coolant tank. Getting the hot coolant to the heat exchanger first will cool it down faster and should keep the coolant pump and tank cooler.

    LT just a warning with the 4l60 1-2 shift. The 4x4 transmission output doesnt like jarring shifts.. if the sunshell lives, the output will break. I did it with a naturally aspirated 4.3 in an S Blazer. Had a HD2 kit and shift servos that were a bit more agressive than the one you have but you have about 4x the power lol. Just a heads up.

But you have a truck that with some further tuning and maybe little higher octane fuel can make well over 600hp. In a short bed step side! This is the American dream truck for like the last 50 years dude. Think about it.

    @bdugle1 Před 2 lety +1

    I’m very interested in your tuning experiences-that’s going to be me in a couple months, I hope. No supercharger, but otherwise the same process. My question is about tuning from the lean side. Goat Rope Garage suggests taking your tune (VE table) and multiplying by 1.1, ie adding 10%, as the first step so that you’re tuning from the rich side. Probably not an issue at “drivability” throttle settings, but you could hurt a supercharged engine pretty quickly at full throttle running lean while tuning. On the other hand, really nice work on the installation!

    • @LawrenceTolman
      @LawrenceTolman  Před 2 lety +2

      you're absolutely correct there about running a forced induction engine too lean. When I make the first VE table in boost regions, I always over estimate how much fuel iit wants so its rich, then I have to lean it out to reach the target.

I Installed both on my 2004 suburbans 4l60e which has 200k on it along with a bigger tru-cool trans cooler and Amsoil transmission fluid and the transmission runs and shifts so much better, I also replaced all the shift solenoids, down shift 3-2 solenoid and PW converter solenoid along with the transmission pillow switch and updated all the accumulator pistons from the problematic plastic ones to the aluminum pistons. My trans should last for a while as long as I don't beat the hell out of it on a daily basis and drive it like a sain person plus it's a suburban, not like I am going racing with it but will tow with it here and there and is why I did all the upgrades on it.

I have an 02 Z71, ext cab. Maybe the weight played a factor too. After the first tear down, I put in an HD2 shift kit thinking it would help. It did last about 6k miles but then I started to slip 1-2 shift and eventually lost it all. After 2 years of rebuilds, I swapped in a 403 stroker and a built 4l80e. It's awesome.

    • @christophermix6845

      @@mac007taz interesting. Performabuilt has a build video and says the main issue is the filter get clogged and the trans gets starved of fluid, he modifies the valve body and stuff to fix it. They seem to have a bullet proof 4l60. Of course the sun shell and stuff needs upgraded.
      And of course the pathetic stock tranny "Cooler" keeps the fluid nice and hot to help burn the clutches up haha.
      I was going to do the 80 swap but by the the time I get everything I need it would of cost the same as their black edition 60 which is rated for 1000hp, and I would have a lot of labor swapping the 80. And I love 60 gearing, the 80 just seems sluggish compared to the 60.
      I've almost got my 398 stroker done. What did your truck end making to the wheels?

    Fuel yes it's out of this world right now even with my 6.0 all stock drinks some fuel at 14.7 / 15.0 mpg.
    Not my daily yet but we're close.
    Heck even my cruze isn't cheap at 65$ a tank for 91 non e. But I can go 400 plus miles to a tank so thats my daily at 34.5 mpg.

  • @anythingbutwheelswithdanmi6040

    Hello sir, love the channel. Especially the suburban build as I am doing a 1996 Tahoe that I’m putting a 6 L from a 2500 suburban. Today I’m not talking about that, this is about my sons truck. He was given a 02 Silverado to be a donor vehicle for his 86 k5. I have completely taken out the wiring harness and plan to use most of it probably the exception would be the airbag because my son does not want to change the steering wheel. I was thinking about the ABS. Is there a relatively easy way that you know of to put ABS on my son solid axle K5 which would hook up to the factory ABS stuff from the O2 Silverado?

  • @jolo871
    @jolo871 Před 2 lety

    Do you really have to worry about the transmisson with those "tiny tyres" ? I run my TH700 and 871 blown 454 for a long time with 295*15*50 tyres - no problems at all

  • @JosephNnbs
    @JosephNnbs Před 2 lety

  • @cliffweatherbee6914
    @cliffweatherbee6914 Před 2 lety

    Why don't you just add a whole bunch of torque management to your shift? That's how I made my 4L60E last 8 months behind my cammed 6.0 while I saved up for my 80E.
    Also, when you pull timing for shifts, you can make the shift happen faster.

    • @LawrenceTolman
      @LawrenceTolman  Před 2 lety +1

      its running all of the factory torque management now so it does pull a bunch of timing for the shifts, but a part I already have can't hurt either

    • @LawrenceTolman
      @LawrenceTolman  Před 2 lety +1

      Because the hot air from the blower enters from the bottom of the brick first, my thought was to have the hottest air meet the coolest liquid. Can’t say if that’s right or not though…

      But the air entering the cover should be at its coldest and the coolant exiting the brick as hot as possible. To me it makes sense to have the cold coolant enter the top, it should result in colder air entering the cover and hotter coolant exiting the brick.

    So cool the project is finished, it's wicked. I have a question you said you need to run premium in it now. I live in Canada we don't have E85. Low grade is 89, mid is 91, and premium is 93 octane. Are you running 93 octane in it?

    • @LawrenceTolman
      @LawrenceTolman  Před 2 lety

      Where I live, the best pump gas I can get is actually 91 octane, that’s what I’m tuning in now, but timing is very conservative. so 93 would be a lot better if it were available, but of course e85 would be best of all

    Hey LT, I didn’t see a check valve in your catch can lines. Just wondering if you had one built into the can itself. If there’s no check valve, you’d be pressurizing the crankcase every time you make boost.

    • @LawrenceTolman
      @LawrenceTolman  Před 2 lety +2

      No there’s no check valve in the catch can, but where the vacuum source is in the blower snout, it never sees boost.
