Welcome to the first review on CZcams of Norse Atlantic Airways!
Norse Atlantic is a brand new airline based in Norway which operates low cost transatlantic flights between Oslo and the US. They're also starting flights soon between London/Berlin and the US. I was fortunate enough to be able to grab a seat on their inaugural flight from Oslo to New York a few days ago and I'm very pleased to present this trip report to you!

    Norse has a few advantages:
Experienced staff and crew (from Norwegian)
Modern wide body aircraft with room for fish in the cargo hold. Flying between hubs, freight is a good way to make the flight more profitable.
    Reasonable pricing
And the brand itself is kind of cool, viking ship livery, callsign "Longship".

@@nycflyertravel They have the additional advantage of selling aiport lounge access as an add on service for flights from JFK terminal 7. BUT the airport lounge does not recognise bookings from Norse because they charge $65 at the door for access, Norse Airways staff at the gate know this, so Norse airways is aware of this. So delighted to have purchased lounge access and been conned by Norse.

I just took the inaugural flight from Ft Lauderdale last week. Check-in was a mess, because of the lack of experience of the 'contractor' check in staff. They didn't communicate well to the passengers, until I insisted they make a status announcement (I worked for another airlines), which calmed everything down.

I am excited about Norse, but their decision to base most of their flights in Oslo may be the death knell of the airline. I am glad that they are starting transatlantic service to London and Berlin. Those are much better transatlantic hubs than Oslo. I like Oslo as a city, but as an airport, it is rather out in the boondocks. I hope that Norse starts SEA-BER service soon. One of the Longships is named "Mount Rainier" - the only National Park that a Longship is named for that is not near one of the current destinations (assuming you figure the Grand Canyon is sort of near LAX). So I am hoping that means Seattle service is coming soon. I flew Norwegian from Gatwick to Seattle (in Premium, the usual price difference of about $100 was well worth it) a number of times on Norwegian and thoroughly enjoyed the flights.

Flew Norse Atlantic from JFK Terminal 7 to London Gatwick on Friday November 3rd 2023. Booked my self and son via the web. Bought the add on of lounge access before my flight, not cheap. To be fair, Norwegian were doing okay, until the RR debacle, every flight I took with them (does not mean the flight was profitable) was full, the service was good, the IFE was good, the food was either great or BA bad.

How did you get to Norway in the first place, seeing as this flight was outbound?
Maybe you've noticed that United have recently launched a service from EWR to Bergen, Norway, using their 757-200's. This is a good choice for anyone wanting to visit the western parts of Norway which has many of the natural attractions that tourists will want to see.

I have a suggestion for all the CZcams aviation vloggers and aviation geeks - when you are at the terminal and you spot a different cabin crew (they ALWAYS walk in pack lol) - film them and have the viewers guess which airline they represent based on their uniform.
Some uniforms are so iconic they are obvious (like Emirates, Singapore, Thai) but others can be a challenge to guess.
It’ll be a fun game for the aviation geeks. 😝

Their fiscal year numbers for 2019 showed green numbers on their long haul operations. So if covid didn't come, i think they would still fly, since all engines also was fixed during covid...
