It was cheaper to repaint, retrain, and start a new branch of the airline then to sue you.
lol
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
And buy a regional airline aswell.
You want to do all of that and then sue him?
No attorneys come cheap. Alas.
When I was a Captain for Norwegian I think I ran across the character who threatened to sue you, my interaction with him was also distasteful. I won’t talk about it on the internet as you might guess his reaction.
The cease and desist notice was interpreted the other way around and they ceased and desist.
No, they ceased to exist 😂
They desisted from existing.@@curtisj2165
They sure ceased and desisted - THEIR VERY EXISTENCE!
Shame on them sending you a letter like that. You’re always polite in your reviews. They need to get over themselves. Oh but wait…they went out of business. 😊
It's a bad precedent to sue journalists for making honest reviews. If anything, they should be taking onboard criticisms to improve their service. I flew NAS twice to NYC in the past, though my first time was in the midst of the 787 Rolls-Royce fanblades saga, which led to the usual 787 being substituted by a HiFly A330, then there was that 737 MAX Transatlantic to SWF that could do with proper IFE and WiFi, and the airport was further away from NYC, which necessitated booking transport separately. Then later, the MCAS saga began, which pretty much finished off NAS's long haul aspirations.
Karma! 😀
Reminds of toilet-gate at Qatar
He got the Josh Cahill treatment
@@Itallianmobboss What I was thinking too.
"Told them to go shove it"
lol i love it....
Politely told them a very British thing
Just to correct: Norwegian didn't go bust. They shut down their long haul department, because they lost too much money on it. Norwegian is still flying short haul in Europe (you can even see one of their planes at approximately 6:16 in the video). Yes, they are flying Norwegian's old planes, prabably because they were available on the market.
If I remember correctly Norwegian operated the brand under two corporations. Norwegian airlines was the Norway based short haul carrier that still operates. And Norwegian Air Shuttle was the low cost long haul carrier incorporated in Ireland and using primarily Indian cabin crew under some visa agreement they made with Ireland. Norwegian Air Shuttle was shut down and clearly all the assets and most of the management just re-opened under this new brand. Still doing their shady practices of hiring cabin crew from places with no minimum wage (Puerto Rico has no minimum wage, despite being part of the US).
Noel Philips being completely uninformed and spouting nonsense as fact? Absolutely shocking.
@@Spalwblow off, choffer
@@mrvwbug4423 They did have several "airlines" (or AOC's). to be able to fly from different countries. But are/were considered one airline from a passengers point of view.
I think even Norse have that.
that was Wizz Air
As most people should know by now, you get the dreaded SSSS on your boarding pass and extra screening when there is something unusual about your travel circumstance. It is often because you bought a one-way ticket, bought your ticket at the last minute, or paid cash for your flight.
Yes, so not so 'random' as the gate agent said haha.
Also the fact that he had only been in the country 12 hours before heading back 😂
Not true. I was picked out. I booked as usual through my company travel agent, on a journey I regularly did every quarter. None of my colleagues (about 20 of them) got selected. There is some selection to random spot checks
@@tedferkin Are you sure you had SSSS pre-printed on your boarding pass by the airline? That is the circumstance I was referring to. There are additional ways to be randomly selected for extra screening. Your boarding pass can be manually marked for extra screening by any TSA officer that handles your pass.
And because you're male. Nothing if not sexist.
I flew Norse premium in July 2023 from JFK>OSL - all Oslo based crew and when I told them I had just done a marathon itinerary BNE>CBR>SYD>CGK>DOH>JFK they looked after me super well, moved me to a quieter spot in the cabin etc etc. Their service was the best I’ve ever had on a low cost carrier and was on par with QR/QF business service. Not to mention the flight was only $550USD!
Noel, I really appreciate and enjoy your content. I’ve got a brain injury so sometimes it’s difficult for me to process and understand things. The way you explain and describe things is absolutely fantastic. It’s done in such a way that it allows those “loops” to be closed. Thank you for the time, effort, energy and passion you put into your work. It’s so appreciated! Cheers!
Thank you for your kind words.
love this I too have a brain injury and helps me understand " loo review" is appreciated thanks!@@noelphilips
Very nice comment. I don’t have a TBI so he has the opposite effect on me.
Im wishing you the Best ❤
Can I just say that time lapse of the potato chips inflating was just a beautiful piece of cinematography! (in Oz We call everything chips)
Noel--you're most kind and charitable for describing the Norse flight as "good value for money!" @ $1700, the food was sketchy (I note the hockey-puck "quiche" for example) and the lavatory worse so! Seat looked decent, though, so there's that! cheers until the next one!
The food was inedible. Looks like days left over from the corner shop. Even those still look decent and moist when heated.
Just a random fact, I really love that their call sighn is "Longboat" very cool !
I think the old one was "Rednose", which was equally fun.
And the other Norse entity is Longship@@Astro95Media
Nordic, Norseman, Norship, Norstar, Nortrans, Nor Shuttle, Rednose and Noruega have all been used by the different Norwegian-companies over the years.
@DroopyPenguin95 I'm well aware I just enjoy that they are paying homage to the vikings ancestors that originated from Norway.
Speedbird will always be the best call sign in the world (I'm not British, but credit where it's due!), however Longboat is pretty cool since apparently my DNA test showed that I have a little viking blood in me, lol.
Norwegian still exists, but during covid they scaled down to domestic flights within Norway, and regional flights within Europe.
Norse bought Norwegian's planes and started their trans Atlantic routes. It is a different company, and both are Norwegian companies.
I think the planes are leased.
1:45 Pretending he was just handed his drink 😂
Lolol
looks plausible
Loved that transition
I'm really glad CZcams recommended your channel to me. It's been a joy to watch.
Glad you enjoy it!
One problem with Norse is that it's constantly changing its schedules, axing routes, destinations and so on. It means travellers who book months ahead may be inconvenienced. I mean Boston and Washington DC were supposed to restart this summer but are now cancelled. Norse's Caribbean network from LGW has been cut back substantially since plans were first announced months ago.
Yeah, I worked for them at one point and they changed the schedule sometimes day of. It was really weird
Yep, all routes out of SFO were quietly just taken off the schedules and the airport doesn't even show up on their website anymore
They’re so volatile, I daren’t book a flight with them. They’re also no longer even that cheap. There were some one way £99 tickets to NYC in October ‘22. Safe to say you won’t find those anymore!
@@joesos Thanks for the reminder. I'd forgotten about SFO. Current routes to MIA and LAX (maybe MSY too) this summer will have reduced frequency from LGW.
I just can hope, that your influence and power gets so strong, that you, Josh and others can no longer be silenced, bribed or threatened any longer. You are our spokesman to defend our rights. Thank you.
"That's suspicious" had me laugh out loud in my office... haha
Wow, what a rude woman on check in.
11:50 is an MD-80 that was originally delivered to Alaska Airlines in 1990!
Really enjoyed how casual you were in this video
This reminds me of the time i flew from Cancun to Houston and missed my connection to LA because the customs line was 2 hours long. Once through customs, I was given a new air ticket free of charge to LA (an hour or so later than my original connecting flight) but had to catch another plane to Brisbane, Australia from LAX. Multiple hours later, i arrive at LAX and had to sprint with all my luggage to the other end of LAX (domestic) to the other. Turns out i made it with 15 mins to spare for baggage check in... Travel trauma...
Been there. Done that. At O'Hare. My next trip is to Cusco, so I arrive in Lima around 7:30 AM local time, with my connecting flight to Cuscp at 12:30 local time. Yes, a 5-hour layover. But if the flight is late and/or I have to go through security again, I have time.
Same here. Intentionally built a 4-hour international to domestic layover at ORD on separate tickets just to be safe. Yet just made it to the AA check-in desk at Terminal 5 just as they're about to start boarding the plane at Terminal 3! All thanks to TK taking a 2 hour delay at IST followed by a massive immigration line at ORD (no Global Entry for me as I'm ineligible) followed by another hour long delay to claim my checked bags followed by a really troublesome group of passengers (who were making unreasonable demands to the poor check in agent) in front of the queue at the AA check-in desk just outside Customs on Terminal 5. From then on, I had to catch a shuttle bus to T3, stand on another interminable security line (with no PreCheck or CLEAR memberships) and then sprint to the furthest gate on Concourse H. I miraculously made it as the last pax to board! Only to inconvenience the poor couple who were already upgraded into my first class seats because the gate agent thought I didn't make it 😂😂😂
lol I was still in my first fight city when my connection flight took off because of a 3 hour delay. Ended up being stuck in Atlanta for 5 hours before being put on a red eye flight to Houston
Amazing video as always!! Keep it going Noel!!!!!!!!!
That sausage and crisps looked amazing, but the Nando’s behind you really had me drooling! Thanks for another great video!
Great review Noel, the check-in lady at Gatwick was a bit abrupt, i think you did well to get your connecting flight.
Chris.
So glad you made your connection, and that breakfast looked really good. I shouldn't watch your videos when I'm hungry! Glad you enjoyed Last of Us!
From someone who lives in the Moncton area, was nice to hear you comment about flying overhead! Love your videos!
Mr. Noel what a great improvement of your square mic! Looks way better and it works! Bravo👏
Great video, Noel. These airport dashes will save you money as you don't need to go to the gym to keep fit!
To receive a letter like that I think truly summed up the dire state they were in and the dire state of their management at the time. I lived in Dubai for 15 years and flew mostly business all around the world and appreciate good service and value. I’m now in NZ and fly mostly Asian airlines when I can for my APAC business. Keep up the good work.
Well done Noel for standing your ground. The cheek of some company’s. Hope u had safe travels
Always a great moment when watching your videos, thanks for that
Glad you like them!
I know working at the airport probably isn't the most thrilling job in the world but the difference in customer service between the check in agent and gate security at Gatwick was like night and day in comparison!
Your review of the Norwegian flight was the first video I’d watched of yours :)
One view of NYC all at once - it is truly amazing! Nice shot of Beantown too!
9:06 wasn’t expecting to see Providence RI in this video
Hey Noel, I’d love to see you review air Baltic. There’s also a new train from Vilnius to Riga which would be fun to see you review (maybe try getting the train up to Tallinn too but that requires a change in Valga)
Hey Noel, love your videos. Just wanted to share with you that you can get Walkers crisps at any grocery store, convenience store and petrol station in the United States. They are branded as Lay's chips. Same company, same product!
They aren’t quite the same due to ingredients allowed by the USDA versus those allowed in Europe.
Yeah... i don't quite agree with the last two words. they're definitely different crisps haha
And no salt and vinegar flavour
@@assaf1783 Whaaaaaaaaat?
You can find Walker's in some speciality markets here but I wouldn't say they're the same. Many of the flavors differ.
Thanks for this video. We were thinking of flying Norse from LA to Gatwick this summer. We flew on Norwegian several years ago and it wasn't a bad flight.
Great video as always Noel! Big fan
Glad you enjoyed!
Thanks for the video, Noel. For connections, I always plan for a minimum of 3 hours just in case. It is more annoying when you get to the aircraft but your bags fail to make the connection.
I like your videos, as a curious sort and a pilot, I decided to look at Norwegian UK and Norse, I'm not seeing anything obvious that it's just a shell gave and rebranding. You did not say that it was, but you do imply that or I inferred it based on my ear. I'm not a researcher of corporate structures, and of course maybe some got hired over for skill set or whatever, but the main players named for Norse have backgrounds elsewhere. I could dig into serial numbers of airframes, but I would rather start a fresh coffee and chase away the remnants of yesterday's 6th beer. Keep up the good work !!!!! your Greyhound USA trip deserves a medal for survival.
I support relaxing on a Sunday but the remnants of A 6th beer? That’s gross and a bit worrisome
Flew Norwegian in 2017 from Oakland, CA to Gatwick -- it was so nice to be 10 minutes to our front door, coming & going, and the service & price were fine. There was even a free lounge in Oakland. Sad to see them go, but less so now that I know how they treated you!
Happy Sundays Noel another great vlog 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
I have never flown on Norwegian UK, but I frequently fly Norwegian Air Sweden, another brand of the same airline (which btw is still very much active under the Norwegian name), and I absolutely love them. Always great service and cheap flights. I wasn't aware the different branches would be so different, but I hope you one day get to experience the far better Swedish branch of the airline. As always, great video though.
Nothing like being friendly to their passengers. Always amazing how much walking that has to be done.
Great review Noel, I'm planning a trip from Berlin to LA later this year so your insight to this flight is very useful. I will definitely be bringing my own food.
good to see you a decent audio transmitter 👍
I would be so stressed. Have an upcoming flight to cabo on Saturday with a 1 hour layover in Phoenix, and I'm already stressing about that! How's your blood pressure????
Love the videos!
Phoenix is nice.
As a former business traveler, I can assure you that frequent fliers don’t stress about flights.
How did you post 3 days ago when it was just released today
Going to Mexico should be fine; just like domestic to domestic.
@@alangaming2003It could be that they're a member or something and got access to the video early.
Felt that Norwegian were a great airline.
We flew 2 premium to Vegas and back in a brand new dreamliner. Service was excellent and enough points to cover return flights for 4 people to Berghan.
It was great to see them taking on the transatlantic big boys at the time as they were offering really competitive pricing and service. Reality was I think they might have expanded too quickly and screwed the pooch. Would also say Gatwick fast track isn't worth it these days as security has gotten a lot more slicker. Last time I had fast track, I got beat e through by a colleague who didn't!
Agree, i flew premium with Norwegian to LAX and it was a very good experience overall.
Agree I've flown with them for nigh on10 years.. loved them
@@ojosazules8828 Well you should try Norse, it's the same concept really and same planes
I've been waiting to see what your thoughts on Norse were. My wife and I flew Norse in April 2023, which flew round trip from JFK-LGW. It was a great experience in economy. The price definitely played a factor in us choosing Norse.
Run Noel Run! thanks for the video
Noel, I really like the way you make your trip reports of all your flights, bus rides and train rides. It’s very amusing and entertaining. Can you one day do a first class trip report on the Emirates or Etihad as I want to know if it is really as good as it seems and I want to see how you experience it!
I have 2 Emirates videos, you can see them here www.youtube.com/@noelphilips/search?query=Emirates%20
Will do for sure and I just came back Economy on United from SFO - MEL and Noel, if you ever come back to MEL, you are kinda in for a bit of a wait at baggage reclaim as my stuff arrived 40min after i got there so yeah, if your lucky then it may arrive earlier.

Thank goddess you have TSA Global entry. I am thinking about applying for it but just the interview within 6 months makes planning a bit more complicated
It may take a long time to get the interview but it's worth the wait. Global entry is worth every penny.
If you have an international flight planned, you can complete your interview at many large airports just after passing through immigration on the return. I did that and it was quite convenient.
The little pause after you said "but they went bust" absolutely perfect 🤣👌
Flew Norse from LAX to Gatwick and it’s one of those things where you can’t complain for the price. $500 round trip and I booked 4 days before takeoff.
Just watched a review about Norse from The Points guy, apart from the add ons, they loved the flight and the food was great. there was a mention that the company had taken over Norwegian Airlines routes but no mention about the same bosses, lol, they also loved the food, tbh Noel, they were obviously luckier than you 🤭, great video yet again
Noel did not present the facts to you, it's not the same owners, but they took over some of the old 787 planes. And Norwegian still exist, they are only flying 737's in Europe now.
Norse is a Norwegian airline… under a UK AOC. Not sure it really counts as UK though
I flew them in December and quite liked it. Interesting to watch this and see how you found it
Edit: surprised about the food as it was good when I had a pasta dinner and cooked breakfast. Premium is definitely premium economy not business
Just like how NordVPN is from Lithuania (not Nordic, but maybe close enough to the _north?)_ but under Panama jurisdiction, which being tropical is about as far removed from the "Nord" idea you can get lol.
The lue review is the G.O.A.T every time because it always shows the care people put in❤
Congratulations Noel on 500k Subs, I have been following for ages, but never comment, I just wanna say congrats once again. You are my favorite flight reviewer
Awesome, thank you!
I thought we would see Noel actually run! What airline had those monster bags being checked at 12:40? And your check in agent at LGW counter could not have been more unpleasant. Airline customer service is not what it used to be.
It was an airline called Air Cuba or something. I believe that's who's operating that MD80 we pulled on stand next to. And yes, she did not seem a happy bunny. It's funny how you hear my voice change from happy to disdain in that interaction, it's almost like it's infectious!
I spent many years as a CSA for an airline. Try walking a mile in our shoes. Insane customers, terrible long working hours and management constantly trying to take more and more away from us in the way of wages and benefits.
@Hoovie9596 oh I understand completely. Trust me. But this agent checking in Noel in LGW couldn't have been more colder in any form of customer service in any industry
@@Hoovie9596No excuse for rudeness. Get another job if you don't like customers.

I’m Noel Philips and I endorse this message.
Seems like the issue was filming without permission. I wonder what would happened if they had followed through.
They would probably have won... Norwegian was/is a Norwegian company, and Norway has strict rules on publishing photo or video without concent.
@@Andre1980stavanger Not Norwegian Air UK.
@@Andre1980stavanger But this was Norwegian UK which was registered in the UK so wouldn't have been covered by Norwegian law.
Don't need permission to film in a public place
@@Andre1980stavanger Norwegian Air Shuttle was an Ireland based company with a UK registered fleet of aircraft. The only thing Norwegian about them was the name. Also had they tried to file suit in a Norwegian court he's not Norwegian and the flight didn't originate or finish in Norway. Back then they would've had to try in UK court, and if they try again it would be in a US court in the state of Texas which has an anti-SLAPP law on the books which means a company can't sue you for giving them a bad review.
If you haven’t already get yourself DJI mic V2. It’s float 32 so you can up the volume in post to your hearts content!

Noel, I doubt that you should worry about being sued, since Norse are a different company and I'm sure this wouldn't hold water in any court, certainly not in the UK.
Norwegian airlines is actually a very nice airline. I know he is talking about the uk version, but the Original Norwegian is very nice.

I always see a Norse 787 when flying into Gatwick. They must have quite a lot of slots. Great video as always Noel!
I love your videos! One thing, you should turn the background music down on all takeoff rolls so we can hear the beautiful engine sounds and show the whole takeoff and climb!
" That's suspicious " had me in stitches.
Nice view of Moncton. I did my flight training there. Cheers, mate.
I flew exactly last year from OSL to LGW in Premium which was nearly empty but it was such a lovely flight!
Norwegian was my very first long haul Airline to Europe back in 2018. They did have a Boston Logan to London Gatwick route as well, which of course Boston is my "Home Base."
I got a sampler pack of Walker chips/crisps for Xmas here in Canada, only flavour I liked was prawn cocktail
Ill have to try the Walker Crisps. I like the sound of that crunch.
Last year, I flew American from SAT to DFW > SPS. The plane that was supposed to be my connection diverted. And the plane that ended up being the connection, was scheduled later. I initially had a 1.5 hour layover. When we landed in DFW, the plane had a few minutes of a delay because the auto-brake system malfunctioned.
I missed my flight by minutes. I ended up taking an Uber back home for a cost of $120.
Keep up the good work..
Happy you made your connection - you did look a bit out of puff! I once had to make a choice between a 2 hour connection from domestic to international or a 10 hour one - so I spent 10 hours in Luton Airport!
As we are both from Leicester Noel, you must refer to them as crisps. And they are most certainly not for sharing eh Gary!
1:04 Aurigny spotted in the background. Nice Guernsey airline, definitely worth coming to take a flight into Guernsey to fly on our Dornier 228's to Alderney!
Flying with Norse to NYC next week! Great review.
Have a great start into next week 😃
You too!
Great video as always Noel, can’t think of any video by you I haven’t enjoyed! I’d love to see you try Lauda Europe on our side of the Atlantic. They are owned by Ryanair, but operate A320‘s and have a big base here in Vienna. In Austria you could also try the Vienna-Graz flight by Austrian airlines, which is one of the shortest domestic flights in the world with a jet plane (Embraer 195).
Amazing that you are flying again on the same aircraft.
I have a mate who was a pilot for said previous airline that ceased to exist. One fine day he tried logging into the rostering system to check his schedule for the month ahead. Couldn't get in - access denied.... strange right? Calls up another pilot mate at same company. He couldn't get into the system either. So they called their mutual mate who has contacts in scheduling.... He checked it out and found that HE was locked out the system too. A few phone calls around and it turns out that said airline were ditching a bunch of staff including pilots. No announcements or letters, you just found out via the grapevine.
Anyhoo, a few weeks later he gets an email from HR.... ah, a settlement and redundancy package you might be thinking. Nope, he was TOLD to "dry clean your uniform and send it to HQ via courier at your own expense please". That was it... no settlement, no redundacy, just intructions to return all his Norwegian issued work clothes/pilot unifrom etc. So we he went and had everything meticulously dry-cleaned and plastic wrapped....
.....and sold it on eBay for E350 as a self administered redundancy....
Never heard from them again and is now flying for a much better more reliable operation.
Great Noel, seems like the Sausage and crisps/chips may have been the highlight of the trip.
You makes us wait to long for your awesome vids…..that’s ok it’s worth it , Keep safe
