Fischl is actually a really interesting character when it comes to lore. As you have guessed she is role playing a character called Fischl from an in-game book titled Flowers for Princess Fischl. She's also referenced in Legend of the Shattered Halberd. These books may or may not be allegorical retellings of teyvat's history and/or future. There are several theories about it. I used to think she was strange, but now every time she shows up I think what is being foreshadowed now?
If you played her next event then you must already know her reality. There is nothing more to her story other than the book which describes the kingdom of another world from which she was inspired. But yes, I agree there is possibility of kingdom from another world that was just like she describes and was destroyed. Maybe Genshin will end it with a new book or it will be used in some other game.
Leonard is the creator of the wind glider and his name and the schematic you see in the cutscene are a reference to Leonard Da Vinci with his famous flying machine concepts.

Inventor. Creator of Wind Glider was whoever completed his project in Lawrence family. As IIRC Leonard's friend he sent everything to was head of Lawrence family at the time. They were one of three families for reason... right until they weren't.

At the very least, this event is major to story. Considering that it’s Scaramouche’s true introduction and the first mention of Teyvat’s skies being fake. Plus the fact that character constellations are an in universe thing

In the future after Inazuma, Fischl has an event story focusing on her backstory. Mona is involved too and snippets of her story is also revealed
Looking forward to checking that out and unraveling the mystery of Fischl 😀
funfact: when asking if we hear about Mona before, if you did her story quest, you will know who she is, so you get that extra option
After event: when you do her story, she will remember you.
This was a tidbit that will come into play later with characters and events if you did stuff related to them, dialogues will change/alter slightly based on it.
That's cool that dialogue changes slightly based on what you have played 😀

She is famous in community due to 2 reasons:
1. She is "Chunibyo" character. A Japanese team for delusional teenagers and all. These character are very much common in Japanese Anime industry.
2. Some players actually like her dialouge delivery. Her VA has done a very good job. Though German won't like how she pronouces their words.
And you know the reason why people would hate her.

Fischl is such a great character. She's like a playable genshin lore player 🤣 ..for she role-plays the princess from an in-game book that is theorized to tell an allegory of Teyvat's history, prior to the game's timeline. Fischl's real name is Amy btw.💕
To elaborate a bit, it may very well be that Fischl is able to reach the "right conclusions via the wrong methods" because the "wrong methods" are fictionalizations of true lost history. They're only "wrong" because of the fictional layer, but because it runs parallel to the truth, she still reaches the same conclusion.
I think it's really dumb that people make video recaps of an event, then proceed to skip dialogue... Like what is the actual point?

This was definetelly one of the best event.
Good plot,good dialogues,actual character introduction out of nowhere and being this important,very important lore.
Context for this whole thing;
1. This is a limited time event story. It only happened once and so nobody who didn't play it at that time can experience it again. Only recordings of it remains.
2. Time limited stories are common in Genshin, there are many others. This story is particularly important for the Game's lore because of the introduction of one idea from one sentence.(I won't spoil)
3. Leonard is actually the designer and inventor of the wing glider that the player gets.
4. This is also the technical first introduction of the Balladeer/Scaramouch. The players who didn't play this event will have a different dialogue when you meet him again later than those who played this.
Finally, while this is the first of the lore wise very important, limited time stories, it is not the only one. There are others that are quite important.
Btw, this is one of the complaints of the playerbase about genshin. There are far too many stories that are limited time like this that are also quite important to the lore.
Yeah if it's going to be LTE then it shouldn't contain so much important lore so can see how that's a complaint 🤗
such good world-building, the reveal that Leonard came up with the original design of the Wind Glider, and you've finally met Scaramouche, and it's pronounced like🎶SCARAMOUCHE SCARAMOUCHE DO THE FANDANGO🎶 and we'll see more of him, Mona, and Fischl later on

It's time for the best girl Fischl's debut. My favorite part about this event (besides the whole "fake sky" revelation) is how keen Fischl's intuition is (after all, she is a senior investigator for the adventurers guild), even with her shenanigans and quirks, she was able to deduce exactly the nature of the dreams and the curse. She's been my favorite Genshin character for a long time, it's always a nice surprise to see her in the story (even if she only appears in limited events).
Bonus point: Her JP voice is Maaya Uchida, fans of "Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions" will recognize her immediately.

Fischl is such a good character and unfortunately most people won't know about it because she never shows up in the main story. There is much more happening under the surface. For Mona as well, I wish they used her more because she's ones of the most interesting characters when it comes to the overal lore of the game, being an astrologist who can see what others can't.
This is a great chance for me to see the events i missed! To think, the "fake stars" theory went this far back. People who missed this event wouldn't hear something like that until Sumeru
Fischl is a lot, but harmless at the end of the day.
It to this day is WILD to me that this is a limited time event that can't be played again. Like, a lot of them have really good stories or fun gameplay, but none of them are as intrical to the main plot of the game as this specific one.
We still don't know what it means that "the stars and skies above Teyvat are fake" but it has been something that's always been sitting in the back of the story as the plot has moved forward from this event. Not only that but this is the introduction of Scaramouche who just kind of...shows up later if you didn't play the event. All of the Harbingers we've met in the game are important characters but Scaramouche is a pretty big player himself, especially to just be shadow dropped inside of a limited event.
That all being said this was still all the way back in version 1.1 of the game a month or two after launch when there was no way to predict just how big Genshin would be so parts of it are at least understandable. Regardless it's sad that you just can't experience this event again without watching recordings on CZcams.
Something about the whole false sky thing, to get characters in Genshin u have to summon characters and the animation is through a falling star, and when u get copies of the same characters, u unlock the constellations of them. It's tied to the lore of the game, and they didn't bring up the "false sky" thing until 3 years later basically, so it's a huge lore bombs. Now there's fan theories about the entire world of Genshin being "upside down". In one region i also find a random paper on the ground not tied to any quest that tells u this world is fake. Its kinda scary

Ah yes, the first in a long line of banger music tracks that show up in the middle of a time-limited event and then are never to be heard in-game again. In this case, it's 'Midday Prospects', the music that plays during Leonard's cutscene.
Fischl's backstory is in an event called Golden Apple Archipelago 2. I suggest you watch Klee's Story Quest, then the first golden apple archipelago and then the 2nd Golden Apple Archipelago quest. This way, you'll familiarize with a lot of Mondstadt's character development that's not in the archon quests.

I was originally skeptical of you watching the story as opposed to playing, but seeing this I'm not convinced that this does seem to work well for both of you and you get to experience events that many new players don't!

Golden Apple Archipelago 1 and 2 are definitely two events that should be on your watchlist at some point. The 2nd has more Mona snark too.
1:20:19 No matter how many times I watch this I always felt the inspiration striking me hard.
A bit of the game mechanics you might miss if you are watching the cutscenes and not playing, Constellations have to do with a character's fate, and each character has their own constellation. For example, Childe's constellation is a narwhal. And game-wise, when you do the gacha and get duplicates of characters you already have, it unlocks more stars on their constellation and gives them more benefits and power. So in a meta way this quest addresses some about how constellations are seen in game. Also this quest with the reveal that the sky is fake is a major point for Genshin theory and lore channels, trying to figure out what that actually means.
Just so you know events run during their patch and have never reran. The only way new players can experience this story is via videos on media sites

I think Mona and Fischl make a good pairing. Mona is sort of haughty and acts like she is better than others, but I think she see's Fischl acting even more over the top, so it makes Mona take a step back and be a little more self-aware, so she doesnt act as bad as Fischl. Also if Fischl gets too crazy Mona can use astrology to call her out on her silliness, but at the same time Fischl has good intuition so is usually right in her own way. So I think they complement each other well.

Fischl you get a little hint of her true identity in her Story Trailer, but she does show up later with Mona in the 2nd summer event, Summer Fantasia. And you learn more about Fischl's backstory then. Both Summer Island events were good, but I think the 2nd year event is still one of my favorite experiences of the game. There were many little story segments for a few characters, and lots of puzzles and some of the best music the game. And it was hype leading up into the release of Sumeru and Nahida.
If 1.0 gave us Signora and Childe's first appearance, 1.1 gave us Scaramouche and more Childe moments.
I remembered that when I'm playing this, I thought that this was just a normal limited event just like the others. But when years go on, there are many important things here that are hints to the future stories of Genshin...Like "The Sky is Fake", like the appearance of the 6th Harbinger "Scaramouche", like how the astrologist Mona defines Fate along with the Stars & Consteallations, & of course the horrifying foreshadowing of Princess Fischl of the Immernachtreich.
Well now that you checked this next things are the characters quest.
If you are not doing them all i recomend you check the razor and 2 zhongli one before the next story quest.
There is another event that follows up on Fishl’s backstory and Mona being involved again, it’s a trip to the kingdom. I hope you guys check that one out as well after you are done with Inazuma.

Fischl, she's a good egg. She can be a bit much for sure, and I usually have to break out the german translator when she shows up in events, but I do appreciate her flare and enthusiasm. And even after we learn her backstory, there are still a lot of questions. The fact she has one eye covered, and has a pet raven, are strong metaphors relating to the norse Odin (Thor's father). And Odin has some connections to characters within the game, so it seems too much of a coincidence for it not to be important eventually.
The heck. I never knew that The Balladeer made an appearance so early on.

Fischl is inspired from "Chunibyo" type character. That kind of character is mostly famous in Japanese Anime. There is mostly a cult following with Anime watchers and even in Genshin. I am sure you won't like her much even in next event.😂
I know you guys are doing destiny 2 weekly now, but they released a trailer today for Destiny 2 The Final Shape: Gameplay Trailer, and I think you guys would be interested in checking it out.
If you keep going with this Genshin journey, you will reach an event where Fischl is one of the main protagonist.
It will develop the why of her personality and explains her background.
I'm sure you will love her at the end of the event. =)
You can also meet Mona in her story quest, so I think the dialogue changes slightly if you did the story quest first. So I would recommend watching Mona's Story quest when you have time. Also a prerequisite for Mona's story quest is Klee's. So its probably better to watch her's first.
So i see... i was wondering if we would get some "miss event" like the Albedo one or some "side character or event that are not part of the main story quest" too like (i like to call it) the "Avengers Quest" with Xiao and Yelan "and the others but no spoil". Now im quite please with that, but its gonna be SO SO LONG before we reach like Fontaine and in the same time the game still goes on so... yeah XD

Yeah, Fischl can be a bit much when you first meet her, and that first impression can definitely leave a negative mark for some people, but you might understand when you get to another event that gets to her backstory. Unfortunately, that is WAYYYY later like after the 3rd region you visit, which is gonna be soon timeline wise.
Mona is definitely still a fan favorite among older fans, she’s just currently overshadowed with all the new characters that have come out since then. Which is just the very nature of Gacha games. Gotta keep pumping out characters to keep the game alive.
On the note of Fischl and Mona. 1 reason people really dislike Genshin is that you don’t really get to interact with these characters outside of main stories and event stories, unless you specifically rolled for them when they are available. Which is the point of gacha games is that they want you spend money to have more chances to get these characters.
Lenard actually created the Wind Gliders (your gliding mechanic) and it’s a pretty nice bit of lore that unfortunately can’t be revisited in the game.
And to touch on why they don’t keep these events. It’s most likely because they knew the game will keep on growing and thus take more bytes for phones and PCs to store, so they didn’t want to make the size of the game to be too big with unnecessary data.
And you finally get to meet Scaramouche (pronounced like this: “SCAR-A-MOOSH”). A very popular Harbinger that you will find out why much, much later.

Both love and hate. There was a whole controversy in Chinese community over Scaramouche because some people who felt that he was mocking the traveller(us) a lot, didn't wanted Genshin to release him as a playable character. He actually got one of the best character Arc in Sumeru. It took everyone by surprise even though we knew what might happen with him.@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames

Yeah, as a German i find it kind of painful to listen to but also like obviously no shade to the VAs of Fischl and Oz, they were just doing their best lol
Achieving fluent sounding german could be difficult but i think the complete butchering is done on purpose as german is not a language Fischl is canonically able to speak. Shes just picked up words from books and stuff.

Couple of notes:
1. Oz is a Manifestation of Fishl that is powered by her vision. So in reality talking to him is talking to her; Fishl is at core insecure and really shy. If you watch (what I think is) her character teaser, it reveals more clearly that she’s just acting and her real name is Amy.
2. 2.8 has a very long exploration quest that dives more into what lead her to be the way she is.
3. Without any spoilers, Fishl is a very clear blueprint/teaser for Furina, a character you guys had a pretty positive reception towards, so now I’m really curious to see what your reactions will be to the Fontaine archon quests when you get there lol.
I know most people don’t like Fishl, but personally I love her because her combative and cringe larping that adds an element of comedic relief to what would otherwise be a long drawn out story. Her interacting with other characters is always fun because you always think “Oh how are they gonna respond” lol. Mona is a great pairing because even though she’s not acting, she matches Fishl’s confidence. It’s also cute because it’s understood in future events that Mona and Fishl actually become really close friends and you often see them together fighting lol.
This is why FOMO kinda sucks. Both in Genshin, HI3 and other event limited gacha game. I miss this rvent.

I wasn't around for this limited-time event, so it was my first time watching it with you guys.
Concerning Fischl, we know that from an in-universe perspective, she is just an ordinary girl with a wild imagination. Age 16, real name Amy, lives with her parents and works as a scout for the adventurer's guild. She received her Vision (i.e. powers) at age 14 and that's when her "familiar" Oz was born as one manifestation of her power. (In-universe Visions are rare but not considered supernatural.) She writes down entire books on her "dark fate" and "eons of forgotten past" as Princess Fischl etc. and while those are considered nonsense in her home of Mondstadt, we later learn that those volumes are a bestseller in the neighbouring country of Inazuma, with multiple editions printed.
However, a twist to her character is the possibility that she might in fact be the only sane person in the room. Fischl's other-dimensional variants do show up in other games by the same company. If she actually has some fragmented memories and/or knowledge of other realities and lives, without a means to order and reconcile them with her current reality, then what appears as inane fantasy might actually be her coming closer to the truth of this world than anyone else. This short story showed how her supernatural intuition lets Fischl "arrive at the right conclusion through wrong means". This could be in line with her "knowing, but not knowing how and why she knows". This kind of solitude would actually be kind of scary, honestly. Would the entire world around you saying you are crazy be enough for you to discard everything you feel is real?
Thankfully, she has an adventurer friend in Bennet - a boy her age who is so kind he takes all of Fischl's Prinzessin speeches at face value.

As you can tell Fiscl doesn't exactly fit well in city of freedom as the clout of Tyranical nobility has long been extinguished.
Her character here reminds me of stories in highschool where there's always that one kid too into the things they like. For example someone plays naruto music and does the iconic run throughout the locker hallways, luckily that passion made exam days a bit more interesting for the classmates rather than be disruptive to the school faculty.

They just gives you a hint of the future quest, yah i know characters in the past are important to future lore but hey. They're watching the cut scene cause of the story it self. Not because of the appearance of a certain character in a near future.
