If i were sony i would relaunch the Vita. it still has a great form factor and awesome specs. Release more colors for the slim, drop the price to $149 and drop the memory cards price by 50%. There's no reason to abandon the Vita. give incentives for more Japanese developers to translate games for the west. Invite AAA publishers to port last gen PS2/PS3 era games to the Vita and release some exclusives.
Seriously you have this great handheld that can do awesome remote play with the PS4 with a little investment the vita can catch on.
It can. Especially the fact that this has the potential for playing ps2 games, when it DOES, PS VITAs would be flying off shelves.

The reason I bought a Vita was Persona 4 Golden.
Essentially, take one of the best JRPGs ever made, and make it even better by adding even more content, making it true widescreen, packing in a ton of extras and features, and making the whole thing portable so you can play P4 anywhere.
Persona 4 Golden is so good that even if it's the only game you buy, you'll still be satisfied with the purchase of the system.
I should also add that P4G isn't the ONLY reason to buy a Vita; there are many more excellent games for the system including Muramasa Rebirth, Hyperdimention Neptunia Rebirth, Touch my Katamari, Ys memories of celceta, Spelunky, Shovel Knight, Danganronpa and more.
Plus many of PS1's best games, most of the PSP library (although there are some frustrating omissions like Megaman Powered Up) and if you have a PS4, there's the Remote Play feature, which is really cool and effectively does the same thing as the WiiU with off-tv play. It is very awesome to play PS4 games while laying in bed.
Really, the only reason to not buy a Vita is if you for some reason hate Japanese developed games, in particular RPGs. If RPGs aren't for you, the Vita probably isn't either. But if you do like RPGs, go buy a Vita right now. You will not regret the purchase.

The one MAJOR FLAW with this system, and it is MAJOR, is the prices of the memory cards/sticks, as you mentioned. I do believe that this was the one thing that held people back from purchasing the system. Oh, plus the fact that having created the system Sony then failed to support it in any way. I have the slim version of the Vita, with only a few games for it. I flatly refuse to purchase a memory card with enough space to enable me to download more games, simply because of the prices of the cards.
Throughout all those years the Vita has been around Sony has been in a deep financial mess. The videogame division is the only thing that's generating money for them, it became a cash cow in order to save the entire company, that's one of the reasons, I think, they haven't made the cards cheaper. They are proprietary for a practical reason, as well: in order to avoid piracy. Still, I think it's a great console, and it can get even better in the future. It may be the last dedicated portable video game console ever.

i bught a 32gb memory card for only $10 at my local thift store i also found one online at a local yard sale site 32gb for $13 any who you just have to look around you will be amazed what you can find out there
Exactly, if only Sony didn't give up on the Vita and invested more in the Vita and just went with normal charger jacks and SD Cards. They could and should focus on satisfying people with their product and not just their pockets.
W Leon I plan on getting on for black ops declassified and other games etc and remote play lol but anyway the memory card thing u said I remember when the psp was the new thing it was the same thing needed the official Sony psp memory cards for space for game saves music and etc and they did the same thing amazon has vita memory cards on sale I think the 16gb was around 30 dollars but the 64 is 110 ridiculous but anyway Ima get the slim one it has 1gb built in that and the charger port is the same as the ps4 controller charger so if I lose the charger I have a spare or if I wanna add music to the vita etc

I think Sony really underestimated how much that turned away potential buyers.

The Vita is the best emulator System ever with the Henkaku jailbreak! It plays nearly every classic game system perfectly!

There's a emulator for android called Reicast , work pretty well except of course touch screen controlles are crappy.
MetalJesusRocks Ben Heck recently uploaded a video detailing how to make this popular DIY mod. Though his DC handheld design doesn't use the new thumbdrive/hard drive adaptors that are now available, which would scale the DC handheld much smaller by eliminating the large/noisy/power-consuming GD-ROM drive.
I could make my own Dreamcast handheld, though I would prefer to have something official from SEGA as a last hardware hurrah.
So, just as the Dreamcast is *Still* *Thinking*, I'm still waiting...

For the best remote play on PS4: turn on WIFI on your VITA, but don't connect to your router (or delete saved password). Pair both devices and PS4 will connect to VITA bypassing the router and the lag will be smallest as possible.

+Lone Wolf Gamer TLOU I tried remote play with pstv a while ago and sold it because of the annoying lag. Now that I know how to minimize the lag I bought it again and also two vita's. Henkaku gave these consoles a second life.

@Arcade Kaos battery life on the slim is ok and one thing to watch out for when buying a vita is memory cards even with the sd2vita hack you need a memory card to get everything setup and running

Vita is awesome system and it has awesome games. I do also love to play PSP games on Vita. They look better and thanks to second analog stick it's more confortable to play some games such as The 3rd Birthday (second analog moves camera around).

mvl71 I do have same problem man ;) It's probobly worst for me, cause I live in Poland - country when you earn ~1500 PLN/month and game consoles such as genesis/SNES costs aroung 700 PLN... Turbografx16 is 1600+, and even new games cost around 200 PLN+.
Non the less you have a lot of great games on vita, I'll name the MUST HAVE titles:

- Disgaea: infinite
- Disgaea 3

MocnyBrowarek i hate how ys and games like army corps of hell or something, look like psp games. It seems obvious the dev was making it for psp and switched to the vita last minute and just ported over or something, becaue the quality is that of a psp game sadly. But not all psp games look ok on vita. GTA i say is amazing though.

I’ve had a vita since 2014, I love the system, I recently swapped out my slim model for the original model and I could not be happier. It has a way better screen as said by mjr in the video and I’ve soft modded it so I can get whatever games I want. With vita games getting so expensive I think it’s a great route to take

Macabre Man I would recommend the switch as it has a great variety of games including open world games such as:Zelda botw, Lego city undercover, a knights quest. More great games are coming out next year and beyond

As a big handheld player, it's nice to get great indie games like Proteus or Hotline Miami on the Vita. Tons of great ports and crossbuy stuff. Sadly, not a lot of original content though. That's my biggest gripe about the Vita, but all in all, I like it!

Oh, I'm just referring to exclusives by another name. Games you don't find on any other platform. Vita has exclusives, but much of its library, and in particular its best games, are not exclusive.

helldivers is one of my best games ever
i think you slowly worked me down to getting a vita starting with this video. it goes with me everywhere. especially now with the vita2sd and enso, not too mention adrenaline psp emu. i was basically able to take my entire psp ms pro duo 32GB card and copy it to my my vita and all my iso's, cso's game saves, apps, home brew all work on my vita's 64GB micro sd card in its $5.00 vita2sd adapter.

Off topic of the video but glad to see a fellow Leatherface fan :) dope little action figure you have of him. I can't brinf myself to unbox mine, i got the deluxe figure think it's by Mezco, comes with sooo many accessories and a real leather apron and mask! I also have the Leatherface Living Dead Doll (among my other 48 Living Dead Dolls) he is one of my favourite. But definitely my favourite horror movie character of all time! Nobody does it like Thomas haha, i love that he is featured in Mortal Kombat X aswell! Man its fun spilling blood with that chainsaw.

I honestly had high expectations for the Vita, being a big fan of the PSP, I had about 7 different PSPs lol, I was hoping the Vita would pick up on new games, but it has been turned down by a lot of the big game developers. so now all we're left with is an expensive remote for a ps4, or... well it's not good for music or video really, but i am not a fan of JRPGs or any of that anime stuff. I mostly like action, adventure games, or racing. but those aren't very common anymore. I still love the Vita, but I wish they'd do something with it, I had mine homebrew enabled for a bit. and yes, the memory cards are way too pricey for what they are.

Dissidia? crisis core? kingdom hearts bbs? among other amazing rpgs or how bout all the butt-loads of Japanese games that were amazing. Most of what makes the system is the games that come out for it, and psp had a great array of AAA titles.

Doubtful, ps3 was still supported back then, while virtually every single developer and publisher has its eyes set on the ps4. Sad but true, the vita was overall a failure and sony had already given up on it.

The vita might've been a success. They just said no and that disappointed me because I saw potential in this device. Anyway, the wii u was a disappointment but it still had some great games. For example: Bayonetta 2, Xenoblade chronicles X and Tokyo Mirage sessions #FE(it's Persona plus fire emblem). Nintendo also could've of put some money into the Wii U but they didn't...

Nice someone giving the vita positive spin , I really enjoy this system for all the japanese titles definitely. Hm metal jesus did you pick up , muramasa demon blade , Ys celeceta , soul sacrifice and the higher res version of Virtua last reward? (its like danganronpa but more down to earth and less crazy?) Lastly did you try Senran Kagura shinobi versus? Its like a combo of Dead or alive and Dynasty warriors with rpgs elements). Cool video dude , its def a underrated system when atlus has a psn psp game sale im there all the personas and hexzy force for 5 bucks totally worth it.

Enjoyed your review of the Vita. It . Was consise and brought up many good and valid points. I've been on the fence about purchasing one due to the investment factor, but you make it hard not to want to rush out and get one.
In my opinion, The Vita is the best made handheld gaming console ever. Too bad it wasn't successful like the 3ds. Imagine games talor made for it like an Infamous or God of War. Maybe another Vita Uncharted game? It has so much potential. I really hope Sony eventually releases another handheld and it's very successful, because It's such a shame the Vita isn't more utilized.

Rikuson1 I'd also recommend the Senran Kagura Games, they can be pretty fun even without the fan service (well Bon Apetit probably not but the Versus games definitely are still fun even without the short fanservice scenes, they actually end up feeling in the way during some of the later battles)

In one hand i like the new one because you know that it hasn't been used and it will work perfectly but in other hand we have the price difference
+Lexaind the second model is better, the battery life is superior to the 1000 series model and the display is not that much worse, and very important to note, sony has ceased producing the original vita charging cable, while the slim uses the same usb cable that smartphones use to charge and slim comes with 1gb internal storage
+Lexaind i got a new white/lime green one for the gf, mostly coz it costs almost the same as used in my country, plus the analog in these things seems delicate, so i dislike the idea of someone having been rough on them already. im about to get a new vita for myself, the matte orange is hella awesome, saw a guy buy a blue one, and the casing color seems as if its bleeding into reality, very surreal. as well as the L2/R2 trigger grips. these things from what i read are very tough tho, so if youre not oc, id doubt if you would run into problems with a used one, one thing to look for are ghosting tho from the analog, other than that, no prob getting a 2nd hand.

I've had my Vita since 2013 and have not regret buying it. I absolutely love it and play it more than my 3DS. In fact my 3DS is pretty much collecting dust and my Vita is the handheld I go to simply because it caters more to my taste. I adore the Vita and the fact I can use it for web browsing and Skype as well as gaming so for me it works as a tablet as well. The only and I mean the ONLY downside I can actually think of IS the price point of the memory cards and such but having a 32GB card for instance is worth the money.

Alexandria Thorne Amazon recently had their 32gb card on sale for around 60, which is still too much but is a lot cheaper than it normally runs. Rumor has it Sony's gonna announce huge price drops for the Vita at E3. If this happens perhaps they'll drop the prices on the memory cards as well and I can snag a cheap 64gb card to go along with my 32gb.

Alexandria Thorne lol same here bro, 3ds is brought out for some pokemon or mario for a bit and then its back to the vita. Its sad that something like monster hunter flocked towards the 3ds. Especially now since capcom is making deals with sony and microsoft (street fighter/dead rising 3), you would think they would keep monster hunter on PS too, yet that, they gave to nintendo. It sucks since id rather try MH on ps than SF.

I have bought many games on sale do for dirt cheap like persona 4 etc and gotten an insane amount on psv games for free from ps+. My backlog is insane
Brilliant summation dude, I got mine a couple of years ago now. I plumped for the OLED version because it was around £20 cheaper than the newer Vita. I love the system, but you're spot on about the memory card prices. It took a minor lottery win on a scratchcard before I could eventually drop the cash on a 64Gb, but it was worth it due to being a PSN+ subscriber.

Only if Sony wasn't so greedy when it comes to SD card, then PS Vita would have a different outlook today. Other than that, it does have some limitations on its specifications but it works well for most part.

I got Fight Night and Tekken 6, Final Fantasy VII, and many more! Love the Vita! Only drawback for me was the smaller button layout. Another great series I don’t see mentioned is the Invisimals. Like a Pokémon type game that uses all of the Vita specific controls. A very fun game!

BobSamurai Anime Reviews One cool feature of the Vita is that you can set the D-pad in PSP games to the second joystick, so if a game on PSP used the D-pad for camera controls you can now control the camera with the right stick. Makes games like Armored core for the PSP much more playable.

If you bought psp games through tge psn store, then you can probably download all the games you got on vita at no charge.
Jonathan George Certain but not all psp games can be downloaded to the vita. One example is my Capcom Collection game is not available on the vita also certain ps1 games can only play on the ps3/psp like my crash bandicoot game. But mostly all games transfer and it's super easy.

P.S.- have you ever seen or been able to play the full 360 degree, gyroscope with a waiver to sign SEGA R-360? Requires a NASA/NASCAR harness, as it really does go anywhere (you can hang upside-down if you like!).
