  • The Galadriel Problem cannot be ignored.
Ever since The Rings of Power debuted in 2022, there has been something of a "debate" surrounding Galadriel. While it is universally understood that Cate Blanchett is the BEST Galadriel, how does Morfydd Clark compare? Early reactions were not so positive. But what are our thoughts on the matter? This is The Rings of Power explained.
Thank you for watching this Rings of Power breakdown.

I think she would have been totally fine with different direction and a different time era for the character. She does look a bit like a young Cate Blanchett, but looks and acts like a teenager.

Remember, Galadriel is a generation older than high king Gil Galad. Other than Sauron and Gandalf, she's the oldest character in rings of power. But is portrayed as a petulant teenager.

The RoP Galadriel lost me when she drove her sword into the monster's head with a smug flourish. The real Galadriel would have disliked being forced to take a life, and she would not have been proud of it at all. Quite the opposite.

I know from certain who individuals who have connections to the show that it was a knightmare behind the scenes. people were fired left and right, writers couldn't agree what story they wanted to tell, the show was originally about a young Aragorn, some wanted to adapt the Silmarillion but didn't have the adaption rights to the book, the Tolkien estate giving them a long list of things they could and couldn't do on the show such as referencing the movies (even though the showrunners wanted to connect ROP to the movies) writers being fired because they wanted to insert more woke elemets into the show and was met with disapproval, Tolkien selling out to Bezos on his tantalizing and money venture in making LOTR into the next Game of Thrones (which we all know how highly successful that was) a Tolkien scholar being fired, COVID19 impacting everything, the originally being 10 episodes but somewhere being changed to 8 instead, Jeff Bezos allegedly visiting the set and was furious on what he saw and demanded changes to be made in the middle of shooting. All in all, this show was produced with everyone's hands tied behind their backs, not really knowing what they wanted to do and the clock was ticking, and the best they could come up with was fan fiction.

I think alot of criticism the character got was valid, but it was also hilarious when people called her overpowered when she had like 5% of Legolas power :)

I look to the Galadriel in LoTR when she was tempted by the One Ring for the root of how Morfydd Clark portrayed her. LoTR Galadriel was anything but in that scene.
That was even without possessing the ring. So the younger more impulsive Galadriel was totally spot on in my book. Thank you Morfydd for the great work.

@@TolkienGeek. Tolkien was probably going to do a rewrite of Sil and update aspects of Galadriel. From a convo between Tony Giffard and JRR - "In a later writing, Tolkien took it even farther, indicating that she had desired since youth to rule over all of Middle-earth. She was prideful and cunning and got her own way. This new Galadriel was certainly someone different than all previous Galadriels."

She just wasn't at all what I expected at all. Rather un-elfish, if you take my meaning.

Absolutely. As we point out, the elves feel more “human” in The Rings of Power than they do in The Lord of the Rings.

I truly don't understand what you guys are talking about because the being alive for however long thousands of years probably makes a person cold watching the world keep repeating the same mistakes but the only part of her character that is whack is the fighting she can beat anybody at any time any amount of people and it's ridiculous she's the only person who has any strength in the show but that is the only reason the show is ridiculous your reasons sound like your beta males

I can't believe any true lover of these epic works by Tolkien would even deign to watch one episode of this garbage offered up by Amazon. There is only one person I would have entrusted this to and that is Jackson. Thank you Bezos and Amazon for ruining something I have read, and watched tens of times, you money hungry troglodytes.
