Thanks for this video - really helpful. When I first heard about the inpen I thought it was brilliant. Half unit doses, integration with CGM and extensive software. Although upon reflection I don't think it stacks up for me - 1) the biggest downside is the 3 hour delay in CGM readings with Dexcom (one way to force people onto guardian - no thanks) 2) dexcom clarity has extensive software features so why bother 3) you could use apps like mylife etc. to track IOB with some manual effort 4) Half unit is available with novopen echo (which records your last dose). Hopefully another competitor product comes along like the inpen which doesnt have restrictions like 3 hour delays and limited integration. Medtronic has an poor brand perception in the market. Would be great if you could please create a video on some of the best diabetes management apps currently available to calculate/track IOB/dosing/predictive AI capabilities etc.

Went back to MDI about two years ago. Got my first InPen a year ago. Now I have same data I got from a pump with the freedom of MDI. Just got my second InPen. Do not miss a pump. Freedom!! From tubes etc. traveling is so much easier. Less stuff. Two downsides for me. First no Lyumjev cartridges. Had to go back to humalog. Really liked Lyumjev. Please!! Also MDI is expensive on Medicare. The pump and insulin were covered under part B. The InPen and cartridges are part D. Have to pay copays for both. InPen is $238 but last for year. Two types of insulin at $35/month each. Only drawback for me. May have to go back to pump when I stop working.

Great idea. I've had nordisk ones very similar with the app style but with extra peace of mind it has the button too check your last dosed with how long and how many units right there on the pen. Great idea with .5 increment on these pens here (only full unit dosing woth nordisk).

It isn’t compatible, but you can just plug in the value yourself on the app

@@diabe_techneither I nor the Medtronics InPen customer service rep I just spoke with over the phone could find a way to enter BG manually. Have you done this successfully?

I dont think the app is appropriate to use, in terms of the units to be used, as per glucose levels system

    • @evielune

It can be if you consider the app as some sort of advisor. You can always reason what to do with it.
