Bill Berry has un-retired and is now playing drums full time in a band called "The Bad Ends" - look them up...the songs are great! They have 2 videos out now and their debut album comes out in late-January of 2023. Great to see Bill back in rock!
UP is one of their best record. It is amazing. Glad I see them on tour for Up!
Bill was their secret weapon. Their sound changed when he left and not for the better.
Their first 3 albums after him sucked but the last 2 I really liked, just my opinion 😃
As someone who has had a life threatening surgery, I can completely understand and sympathize with Bill’s decision. But Bill is back with a new band and it makes my heart grow fond to know all of them are still musically inclined. I know they have said they would never reform, but look at ABBA. Never say never.
People forget Berry’s songwriting contributions.
I don't think the band was ever the same.
I agree...the band probably had about 10 great songs after he left...when he was in the band, they had 10 great songs per album.
The audio is great, but the video is so very bad and lo-res. What's up with that?
band war
He retired not knowing the music busoness would change. Couldn't live off publishing like the old days. Needed to your to make money
I wonder if bill berry is related to Joe berry who killed himself in about 1990
Or Fred Berry, who played ReRun in the show, "What's Happening?"
Or 'Member Berries
Ruined the band
Absolutely agree. Tho that last one they did before they broke up was a genuine comeback probably their best in at least a decade up to that point
ruined the "band" in the sense that it was no longer the "same" band, but the musicians - the individuals - that continued to make music, were still of excellence and a testament to that is just how they carried on without Barry. But I still understand how you feel, as Berry completed that "rem" sound we knew them for from the start.
Bill was know as the no- nonsense, ego pricker of the band when in the studio. His input was needed.
That's unfair. They did the best they could and managed a few great songs.
I saw them live with Berry a couple of times and four times without him.
Some people only think REM were REM on Murmur, so there is THAT too !
I don't think they were the same commercial
