    Hi Julia what a treat on a Friday evening. This is wonderful and thank you so much for the printable, that is so generous of you. I love the finished piece and what a fabulously creative way to use up scraps. I wouldn’t have thought of using the school glue, I use the stick and spray which is a temporary fix, but can be expensive. Julia you always come up with projects which are unique, fun and easy to try out. No wonder you have so many loyal subscribers. I hope your weather get a little better, in the U.K. we are experiencing a mini heatwave which is so welcome after the cold, snow and rain. I will try and blow some sun your way. Have a fantastic weekend Julia, sending you lots of hugs and loves as always. Xxxxxxxxxx Dorothy 🙋🏻😘❤️

    I just love love your style of sewing and crafting, the way you put things together is awesome , I’ve been watching your videos over and over, your an amazing artist , I’ve learned so much from watching all of your videos, when a person is a sewer or crafter , I think we learn from each other , that’s part of the journey, it’s that way for me at least and I’ve been sewing for around 45 years and still learning, I’m working on the free motion right now among other things, just got the llama printable, will see how that goes 🤔

    Hi Julia, I’ve just discovered your channel, and you know when you have that “Ah ha moment” 😇 that’s exactly what happened!
    I’ve been looking for a way to create a fabric collage but so many videos make it look very labor intensive. The way that you create looks so much fun! I love any craft that allows me to use up all of my fabric scraps is a definite winner in my book.
    You explain everything so well, all of the questions I’ve had about fabric pens, what products you can use to colour in I noticed you have covered all of them on your channel! 🙏😊
    Thank-you so much for sharing your talent and skills with us, what a treat, I can’t wait to sit back now and binge watch all of your videos,

  • @HRHDMKYT
    @HRHDMKYT Před 6 lety

    Such a cute llama! Thanks very much for the printable, and this tutorial. I would caution you to NEVER use Pilot Frixion pens on the right side of any fabric project, as even though it "seems" to disappear when you iron it, the chemicals are still there, and can come back when it cools down and/or you wash it. Even the manufacturer warns that these markers were not made for fabric. Better to use a water-soluble marker made specifically for fabric, or even chalk/ceramic mechanical pencil (or regular pencil). ~Diana from Toronto

    • @stitchesbyjulia
      @stitchesbyjulia  Před 6 lety

      Yes- always test, test TEST before doing a project. I have never had any reappearing ink on the unbleached muslin or osnaburg fabric but I did testing first. It is recommended to test all "fabric specific" markers also. I once marked a darker fabric with a blue water-soluble fabric pen and I could not get it all out. Live and learn:) Thanks for watching. Julia

    Hi Julia,
    I bought a free motion foot. It fits on my machine. There is a spring on the foot. I tried to pay attention while you used yours. Mine seems to lift up with the spring. I think yours is lifting up too, but doesn’t seem like it lifts up as much as mine, but maybe it is because you are used to it. I hope I can get better at it. It looks like so much fun watching you make art with yours. Blessings!

      Hi Chrissie, Yeah for free motion! It's addicting! Yes, my foot has a spring on it and it lifts while sewing. It takes a bit getting use to it but is very helpful when going over various thicknesses. I have a small portable machine that I take on the go and it seems to really jump around. Each machine is different. Hope this helps- have fun! Julia

    Do you think a beginner could do this? I'm a little confused. If you use heat n bond to adhere the llama to the fabric, what is the glue for? Sorry to be so clueless....LOVE THIS PROJECT!!!

    • @stitchesbyjulia
      @stitchesbyjulia  Před 6 lety +1

      Hi Melissa, Sorry for the confusion. I use the school glue to adhere stripes of scrap fabric to the back side of the heat-n-bond. This step could be eliminated if you don't use the fabric stripes and went with one fabric for the body of the llama. Hope this makes more sense. You do need some basic free motion skills to complete this project like I demonstrated but it is not hard. Thanks for watching. Julia

    Thank you for the video. I have been trying to figure out how to create something similar with an elephant. I’ll tag you on IG once I finish it for a birthday gift in a few months. Thanks.

    I want to try this fun technique 💓I would like to know if you use bobbin thread when you do the free motion and also what stitch length do you recommend. I guess your pens and other supplies are available from Amazon or perhaps Joann’s? Thanks for sharing 💓Loved this and learned so much.

    • @stitchesbyjulia
      @stitchesbyjulia  Před 6 lety +1

      Hi, I use embroidery bobbin thread in my bobbin. Here is a link so you know what I'm talking about: amzn.to/2HmpnGR You could get it at Joann's also. It is thinner than regular thread but still strong. I especially like it for decorative stitches that are close together. It doesn't get to bunched up. I only use the white color in my bobbin. If it shows on the top, I lower my needle tension a bit. I think the pens would be available at an office supply or perhaps Michaels. Thanks for watching! Julia

      The stitch length is usually set at 0, and the feet dogs disengaged. On one of my machines the length automatically goes to 0 when I drop the feed dogs. My other I manually set it to 0. Hope this helps. Julia

    I’ve used friction pens for a years and never had an issue, until recently used them on a pillow project and the ink went away, but when I hit the project with steam once I was all done and it came back! It’s still there, but very light...nonetheless, it ruined this pillow which was supposed to be a gift. By the way, I did the pillow out of quality quilting cotton with wool batting. Very disappointing
