  • This is the February event for the Creative Arts Collaboration Facebook group. #loveart.
    In this video, I do an art play on fabric. I start with painting the fabric with my @Gelliart plate. So much fun and so much color!
    I turn it into a small clutch or wristlet pouch. Enjoy the process and thanks for watching!

    Just found u. Ur so good that at first I thought u were painting on paper!! I didn’t understand what was going on. Can u tell me how did u print words on the fabric? It’s so clear . Also, what is the best paint on fabric & what permanent fabric pens 🖊 do u suggest along with fabric paint pens? I have been looking & looking for awhile but everyone has a different opinion. Not that I ever asked any
    Of them BC honestly I’m very impressed with ur work. Thanks.

    • @stitchesbyjulia
      @stitchesbyjulia  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi, When I use acrylic paints, I add the textile medium to the paint before painting. ( I add several drops to my palette and mix it into the paint) If I am using colors that are water activate, I use the fabric medium in place of the water. Hope this helps, Julia

    Hello Julia, love your videos. I wanted to know where is your video on how to inkjet print on the mpc cloth?

    • @stitchesbyjulia
      @stitchesbyjulia  Před 6 lety

      Hi Evelyn, here is the link to the video. czcams.com/video/aC40BJ9EkxY/video.html I start around 1:08. In the video I show with muslin but I use the same steps with the MPC however the MPC is thicker so I do not put the label on the back. You make need to change the setting of your printer to the card stock setting. Thanks for watching! Julia

    Have you tried heat embossing on fabric, I’d be interested in the outcome? I have embossed leather but not tried using powders.

    • @stitchesbyjulia
      @stitchesbyjulia  Před 5 lety +1

      Hi, Yes I have embossed on fabric. You really have to be careful not to hold the heat tool in place too long because the fabric will scorch easily. It is a fun look. I do not know if it would be washable. Happy creating. Julia

    • @stitchesbyjulia
      @stitchesbyjulia  Před 5 lety +1

      Hi Anne, The fabric is called MPC or multi-purpose cloth. It is made by Roclon. It's original use was drapery blackout lining but it takes paint well and does not fray making it so fun to work with! It can be found through the Dick Blick website and also on Amazon. I do have it in my Etsy store as well but am traveling for the holiday and have it unlisted until January. Thanks so much for watching. Happy Creating, Julia

    Do I need to have a special machine to free motion stitch if I can find the round presser foot?

    • @stitchesbyjulia
      @stitchesbyjulia  Před 4 lety

      Hi, most home machines work great for FM. You do have to disengage the feed dogs. This is done lowering with a lever or covering with a plastic plate. Check your manual for this info. You will need a FM quilting foot or a darner foot. These can be purchased if one didn’t come with your machine. I set my stitch length to 0. Have fun!

    How do you seal the paint to the fabric? Is this washable?..

    • @stitchesbyjulia
      @stitchesbyjulia  Před 5 lety

      The fabric used in this project is spot wash only. When I paint on a washable fabric I use a fabric medium. In this video, I tested different paints and dyes and sealed with Golden GAC fabric medium. I then washed the fabric and showed the end results. Hope this helps: czcams.com/video/UH-ZzA9md9I/video.html
