  • During a short particularly cold weather window members of the NZ Alpine Team complete an ascent of the ultra classic Supercaneleta on Mt Fitz Roy. Starting from the Torre Valley and heading up over the Sleeping Man Ridge they head up the initial 1000m of the Caneleta in very cold conditions before the weather breaks and they can continue onto the summit.

Cool to see nzlndrs mastering such an amazing mountain. Not trying to compete with you guys but when i lived in N.Z. I climbed (ascended) mount Egmont singlehanded wearing flip flops. I stubbed my toe descending but thats what you get for not wearing socks eh? Kia ora!

How do you prepare yourself for a climb like this? How often are you doing mixed climbing and what sort of supplementary training do you do?

never mind going up. ..what about going down...
I know that this sport required king of superhuman. ..but I feel bad for the immediate family and the stress that they have to go through every time someone think is having fun climbing mountain.

Mount Fitzroy is rated the hardest mountain to climb in the world. Everest is just a stroll by comparison.
