I'm a retired minister 76 years old. I watched Kenneth Hagin quite a lot in years past. He had a very balanced, biblical way of doing ministry. He had a very sweet, loving spirit. He was so Bible based. But I did notice, way back then, that one current, later to become a big prosperity minister was often on the front row of the church being taught by Hagin's teachings. Some of these current, prominent "word of faith" ministers that followed Hagin seem to be very different and somewhat questionable, not like Hagin. But I found Kenneth Hagin, himself, very, very Godly, very, very loving, very full of heavenly joy. He never attacked people. He was NOT a money hungry person...he just believed that God would help him pay his bills. He lifted up Jesus and the Holy Spirit...AND he was anointed far above many others in the ministry...yet very, very humble. My background is from the holiness movement. I was not raised in the Pentecostal or Charismatic movement. In later years my wife and I came into the gift of the Holy Spirit prayer language. Even today I will watch Kenneth Hagin video teachings and ministry. God mightily used that man!!!

In his book -- I believe in visions, Kenneth E Hagin recounted a vision he had. In the vision, Jesus appeared and was talking to him. Some demons came between them and prevented him from hearing Jesus. He was there expecting Jesus to take care of the demons but he didn’t. Eventually Mr Hagin rebuked the demon, then he was able to hear Jesus. He then asked Jesus why He did not do anything about the demon. Jesus answered and said that He couldn’t do anything because He had already given him the authority over the demon. That blew my mind! As Christians, we need to recognize the authority we have in Jesus and use it to God’s glory.

Did you know that Hagin and the WOF movement was heavily influenced by E W Kenyon. Here is a bit of a background to if.
Emerson College of Oratory in Boston, where E.W. Kenyon received his instruction, was “a hotbed of the emerging New Thought philosophy.” [John Coffee and Richard L. Wentworth, A Century of Eloquence: The History of Emerson College, 1880 - 1980 (Alternative Publications, 1982).] Kenyon’s teaching about “the power of words” and his warnings never to make a “negative confession” [Kenyon and Gosset, Confession, pp. 129-36, 152-55, 182-85, etc.] deeply influenced Hagin and many others who are recognized today as leaders of the word of faith/positive confession movement. Kenyon also taught that man is a little god “in God’s class” and therefore can use the same faith-force that God does. [E.W. Kenyon, What Happened from the Cross to the Throne? (Kenyon, 1945, 5th ed.) pp. 62, 173-76.] We allegedly create our own reality with the words of our mouth: “What I confess, I possess.” [E.W. Kenyon, The Hidden Man: An Unveiling of the Subconscious Mind (Kenyon, 1970), p. 98.]
The theological deviations of E.W. Kenyon from orthodox Christianity were initially minor when compared to those later on in his ministry. With each of Kenyon’s disciples who succeeded him, the errors became more and more pronounced.
Kenyon taught that Jesus was imputed with Satan’s nature on the cross, died spiritually, and went to hell to suffer in our place. [E.W. Kenyon, Identification: A Romance in Redemption (Seattle: Kenyon’s Gospel Publishing Society, 1968), p. 15.]
In a thesis submitted by D.R. McConnell to theological faculty, Oral Roberts University, McConnell summarizes Kenyon’s reasoning to the physical death of Jesus insufficient to atone, citing:
For Christ to defeat his enemies, He had to: (1) die spiritually and become one with Satan in order to provide salvation from sin and healing for sickness, (2) die physically and fulfill the Abrahamic and Mosaic Covenant, (3) be dragged to Hell by Satan where He suffered the torments for the damned for three days and nights, (4) be recreated in Hell and , thus, become the first born again man, (5) defeat Satan and the Demonic host in open combat, (6) rise from the dead as vindication of His victory in Hell, and (7) ascend to the Father where He was enthroned and now serves as the priestly mediator of the new covenant. [D.R. McConnell, The Kenyon Connection: A Theological and Historical Analysis of the Cultic Origins of the Faith Movement (Thesis submitted to the theological faculty, Oral Roberts University, Tulsa, Oklahoma, May 1982), 32-33. Also see Kenyon, Identification, 8, 15, 18.]
Kenyon had also this to quote. “Since sin and sickness are purely spiritual, mere physical death could never atone, nor could it deal with the source of sin and sickness: Satan.” [E.W. Kenyon, Jesus the Healer, p. 17.]
The popular advocates of the positive confession movement teaching this doctrine are Kenneth Hagin, Kenneth Copeland, Charles Capps, Fred Price, Robert Tilton, and Jerry Savelle. [Michael G. Moriarty, The New Charismatics (Zondervan Publishing House, Grand Rapids, Michigan), p. 80.]

By the way in Hebrew thinking faith is not a force it is an attitude of the heart. Faith is equal to trusting and expectant hope in the promises of God, having faith means being faithful to God and supporting Him. WOF teachers twist faith to be a power and try to make you believe you can speak things into being, Jesus taught us to ask the Father not to act as the Father

The Holy Spirit showed me that this School was the one for me .
The deep teaching and grounding of the word of God was absolutely amazing and astounding to say the least .
I was really grounded deeply in God's precious words .
Not only that ,but amongst all the semesters of different topics of the word of God , we had imparted in to us Honnor, integrity, morals and principles based on in and through the word of God , and walking in Love always in any given situation ,no matter what the situation was .
I truly thank God for the prompting of the Holy Spirit on my life to answer ,lead and guide me to this absolutely amazing. Bible School .
I had and still have an deep respect for this man of God , as he thought the word ,explains the word clearly and above all , which is so important to me , Kenneth E Haggan lived the word of God and always lead by example .

I experienced many different church or denomination meetings and congregations and saw and experienced the most outstanding manifestations of the power of God in the healing ministry for physical healings that I received and then saw several remarkable healings where I followed Bro. Hagin’s teaching.
In the area of ministry to the mind, will and emotions, Rev Conlee and his wife Signa Bodishbaugh, Episcopalian then Anglican ministers in Mobile and now retired and moved to Arkansas and Rev. Clay McLean and his wife,Mary, of North Carolina, both ministries have extraordinarily powerful ministries, all of them, because they get jesus right and they have the love walk right and they understand how to minister and not grieve Holy Spirit.
Bro Hagin would not berate or low-rate anybody. His love walk was perfected, and since faith works by love, his faith really worked!
If you do develop your love walk, represent Jesus accurately, teach, preach and invoke Holy Spirit’s help and power in a way that brings honor then you will have a good ministry and a gracious life…with more excitement and joy than you could imagine.

Keep believing that God can do what no one else can. My daughter and first born grandson didn’t speak to us for around 6 years. I was heartbroken and prayed until I couldn’t anymore. I handed them completely to the Lord and just got my joy back and became grateful and happy for all I had. I worked on being strong and somehow the Lord turned things around. We lived in different states. They all got away from God. It wasn’t overnight and I didn’t try to push anything because I was done with the drama. But somehow God put it on my grandson’s heart to move out by us and by that I mean in with us. Now my daughter and other grandson are moving out here in next month or so. They’re so different and God did it. I’ve had to forgive and forget.

I needed to hear this. My daughter has told me I'm no longer her mother, no longer the grandmother of my grandchildren. I'm praying God will fix this. I'm afraid satan is involved. Her last bad boyfriend taught her she can curse in my face. Her eyes turn black when she does what I can only refer to as "demon spew". Only God can deliver her. I feel so lonely feeling I am the only one praying for her. Will anyone join me in praying for her and this situation? Where 2 or more are gathered in prayer, God is there and hears, but I feel I am alone in this. Even though I've laid it at God's feet, I struggle with this. I just want my daughter back but I really want her to come back to Him.

Kenneth Hagin is wonderful. He didn't learn his craft in seminary school. He was basically brand new Christian who knew very little about the Word of God but he was on his death bed when he felt an inner witness tell him he could be healed. This caused him to read his bible and directly establish that relationship with the Lord and found the Word he needed to get himself healed and have the confidence to heal others. I don’t know if anyone else has seen the videos of him walking through a very large church, absolutely overflowing with the power of the Holy Spirit so that, as he passed by people, they just broke out in wild, gesticulations, arm, waving, running in place, falling down and laughing while just took off, running under the power of God‘s, Holy Spirit!!
Kenneth Hagan was wonderful for being able to recite scripture, remembered dates times, events, and names of people. I believe these were all blessings from having devoted himself to memorizing scripture. He taught made perfect sense as it all lined up with the word of God!

His books really inspired me while I was in prison. His teachings are simply saying believe the Word and speak it by faith. It’s powerful because we often speak against what God has said about us and thus bring death into our lives. One of His teachings was to read Ephesians 1-3 replacing words about the church as I statements. For example, saying “In Him I have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of my sins”. Speaking God’s Word like that over yourself will really release the power of God in you. Try reading Ephesians 1-3 doing that for a week and it will change you.

In a vision, Jesus appeared and was talking to him. Thank you Troy for this message. You are talking about something that I have felt and thought about for the last year or so. It seems sometimes as Christians we (or I) get into these routines/formulas which are based on Scripture, but they replace the relationship with God. I have had such great experiences just laying down what I know, what I have learned and what has worked in the past spiritually and prayer wise, and just simpy focus on the Lord, not assuming anything on my own as to what needs to be said or done, but just opening myself to whatever he wants in that moment. Everytime I truly did this, it was so easy and freeing to get an accurate word for a situation or for a person. And if he did not want to say anything that is also ok. There was no stress, just peace in the Lord and his Will.
I don't want to return to formulas, I hope I dont fall back into that.

The ministry heard about situations like this is because people would call the ministry to thank him again for what he did-he would even sign over vehicles to others as God told him to not to mention all the individuals he helped through ministry school. When I first enter my wilderness time almost 18 years ago.. Kenneth Haghin's books had many good influence in my prayer life.. together with Dr. David Yonggi Cho.
Books like Spiritual Authority.. Effective prayer.. Fight the good fight of faith...
I come from a kind of traditional church that fo not believe in toungues.. believers can have demons.. healing and miracles. Later I exprerienced all of them to never have ceased.. I experienced all of them in my life and my life was never the same.. on another level.. so much hope and anointing.
Later I did found some points I disagree with him though. But that does not take away the fact that he had laid a very good foundation.
The maturing part.. I believe talking about some of the abuse of spiritual gifts and some teachings that have gone off balance in the Word of faith movement. But now as people are corrected and guided by the Spirit of God.. they will walk on greater anointing and authority.

I love Kenneth Hagin's ministry and teachings. The Lord used his books and teachings in my life when I was still a baby Christian. I received a solid Bible foundation 🙏🔥

Oh! What a coincidence. I'm listening to this 2 days after you uploaded this video, while writing out scripture verses I use in my daily prayer. I had just written the last word of Psalm 103:1-5 when you mentioned the exact same verse. I use this psalm as one of my praise prayers to God in my early morning prayer. My prayer journal becomes overloaded with extra notes & prayers after about 2 months of use so I rewrite & add & change around the scripture verses I want to use in prayer to God. It helps me to concentrate on how I want to thank & praise God. That coincidence makes me really feel he's watching over me.Praise the Lord.

I also have great respect for Brother Kenneth, and the Holy Spirit has been able to teach me much through his books. The Lord initially said to him "Teach my people to have faith" - that was his mission, his calling, nothing more, nothing less.
I find it remarkable that we are only ever given names from the outside. In the beginning we were called Christians because we followed Christ. There are so many boxes now... Word of Faith? ... I didn't even know that such a movement existed until a few years ago, I had simply read his books, examined the content and knew that it was biblical.
Our heart is a womb and the seed is the Word of God, the ears are the entrance. When we meditate on a specific word (a specific truth from the Word of God) day and night and speak it with listening and affirmation, then a baby grows (i.e. concrete belief in that specific truth). If we stick with it and overcome any resistance, then at some point birth will occur and we will constantly see miracles.
Some people affirm a certain truth from the Word of God only in their heads because they believe it to be true precisely because these words are in the Bible. But unless they incubate this truth (meditate on it day and night and speak it with listening and affirmation) until it comes to birth, they will not perform corresponding miracles, because it is only superficial in their minds and not deep in their spirit.
This is the solid food that the Bible speaks of (as opposed to milk, which corresponds to biblical teachings). You have to chew the same bite of bread for a while until it is almost liquid (and then it also becomes sweet) and then comes the next bite - of the same bread.
The parable of the sower is not primarily about evangelism, as some teach, but rather about breeding certain truths from the Word. And only the one who takes it up with joy, does not allow himself to be distracted, but sticks with it, bears much fruit. The fruit is concrete faith, which is constantly followed by concrete miracles.
If we ponder concrete truths (concrete promises) from the Word, meditate on them day and night, speak them with listening and affirmation, and stick with them, then we come to the promised land with regard to this concrete truth.
Where is the difference between us and the world? First of all, of course, that we can have a relationship with the father and hopefully do that every day! We learn that having intimate fellowship with God is a real pleasure, a pleasure that goes much deeper than any earthly pleasure. We learn that sin no longer has any power over us, precisely because we are saturated with this happiness that only comes through fellowship with him. No pleasure in the world, no earthly commandment even comes close to releasing this joy. And then?
Then (at least according to God's will) comes exactly what the Lord told our brother Kenneth to do: we overcome the enemy, become young men, develop faith in concrete truths. The promised land is big, there is a lot to conquer: faith in healing, in our authority, etc. - we destroy the works of the enemy in the lives of others, God's love flows.
At this stage it is important to continue to maintain communion with the Father so that we do not leave the first love and do not become weary of the increasing service into which we grow, becoming bitter or envious or reproaching when someone does not helps. So that we don't start thinking of ourselves as more than we are because of the recognition we receive.
    God bless you abundantly

I am a Rhema Bible school student from the 80s. Everything you said is right on. I’ve been pastoring for 30 years and forging ahead with the truth and teaching I received directly from Bro Kenneth Hagin and you sound like him. The word and the Spirit together. He was very balanced and taught and encouraged balance. I know for a fact he came against some of his followers that turned the message into a prosperity message. He warned against getting in that ditch.
