Chris Gaines is one of the most Brilliant albums ever. Garth did himself proud on this one. His voice is incredible and the music is stellar.
I knew the deal with Chris Gaines, and I was all in.
I was so ready for a Chris Gaines career full of albums.
Made me sad that it was just a one-off stunt.
I still have that album and I still listen to it on a regular basis. I loved how it was Garth but at the same time it wasn't Garth. My favorite songs from that album have to be : Unsigned Letter, Right Now, & Digging For Gold....but really their all good. Happy 20th Anniversary Chris/Garth.

He has a background in advertising/marketing/sales, etc. and this helped him fool the heck out of everyone. The radio stations would have never played "Lost In You" if they knew it was Garth Brooks. It's a great song. Something reminiscent of Jessie Colin Young. Once he let the cat out of the bag, the Jazz stations pulled it from their playlists. What a society we have. The only 2 songs I like by Garth is Lost In You & the SNL version of Way Of The Girl (sounds like a David Crosby rock song)
I loved Chris Gaines--this is a time period where CG would be more accepted by the mainstream. I hope he does it.

BTW, the way the music industry is now, it wouldn’t surprise me one bit that if a big star today decided to shift gears and try such an experimental and a avante garde concept for an album and be summarily shot down by the big wigs in the record company mid sentence in his sales pitch.
Its not available anywhere. Not spotify, Google play/CZcams music, Amazon music, XM/Pandora, I can only find a physical used vinyl album on Ebay for like 60 bucks. Unless its on itunes somewhere, I think its been pulled from all streaming services.

Yep! Garth was supposed to do a movie and chris gaines was the main character in it. He had the entire (tragic) backstory and everything for it. The character of chris gaines dropped out of high school to start a band with his friend Tommy. The band was called Crush. Tommy died in a plane crash so the band ended, of course. However, chris made a solo album to deal with the pain of it. There’s a lot more but the movie never got to be made. It was supposed to be called’The Lamb’. So, the amazing album we did get out of the entire failed movie project was the Chris Gaines greatest hits.
