Pell Grants have completely changed Dakota Remy's life. Under President Obama, 3 million more students now receive Pell Grants. Dakota qualified for a grant awarding him $5,500 a year. Now a college freshman, Dakota is grateful for the Pell Grant he received and motivated to help others as well. As Dakota says:
"It's inspiring to know that President Obama looks at education as an investment in the future. He wants everyone to be successful and that make me want to go help someone else because someone's helping me."

I finnished a bachelors degree about a year ago now. I worked all through my undergrad education as much as I could but couldn't have afforded it without pell grants. With the pell grants I made it through 4 years of school without needing any student loans. Now I'm working full time as a counselor for children and teens and investing in a PhD program in psychology which I start this fall!

Because of Pell Grants, I will soon have my bachelors degree in Business Administration. I will be the only person in my family to earn a college degree. I hope to one day return the favor to someone else, who was in my position, once I begin to earn more money than I ever thought I would.

I also receive Pell Grants every year and without them I would not be able to go to college. So glad we have Obama for president. Can't believe people don't appreciate all he has done for America

It’s an amazing feeling when you receive your degree....I encourage everyone to try it out. It doesn't need to be a huge university it can be a trade school or a 2 year degree. Once you accomplish it it’s the best feeling ever. I am appalled at how the GOP looks down on education calling us snobs....

I'm from Australia and boy have you got it tough over there. We don't have to pay for Higher Education straight away until we earn enough so its far easier to enrol provided that you put the effort to gain the marks in academic examinations. The rich get richer I guess.. but good on the lad from Dakota.

Yes I thank the president for these pell grants but the universities keep raising tuition. Tuition alone this year at my in state university is around $10,000. That doesn't even include my cost of living and the rent for my apartment near campus. School needs to be more affordable to be more accessible. I'd like to see the universities stop raising tuition so I don't have to wonder if I'll be able to afford to attend school next year.

I didn't have that type of money either but was forced to get student loans b/c I didn't qualify for any types of grants. Be lucky, sir.

More evidence that investing in people is the right thing to do. When we invest in people, we invest in a better future for all.

lies. Note every applicant receives Pell Grants. Not even the poorest.Or they offer students $5,500 in Pell Grant and have the student/parent take out a loan for $20,000+.
