- There are so many videos out there of successful furniture refinishing, but that is not how my furniture makeover went. I thought it would be nice to share all my mistakes in refinishing this table. It isn't always as easy as it seems! I wanted to stain this table and I was experiencing one fail after another. So, I hope this video helps you work through your next project of refinishing furniture.

The one who never made a mistake never did anything! You're just learning what works and what doesn't. Kudos to you for sharing both what worked and what didn't! You ended up with a gorgeous table!
Thank you!! There were so many times I wanted to give up. I'm so glad I stuck with it!!
Vey nice job! Congrats!
Thank you!!
beautiful😊!
Thank you!!
Very nice
Thanks.
I didn't have high hopes for you chances of pulling it off at the begining but it looks magnificent at the end.. Thumbs up from me!!
Thank you!!
F1RST welcome back Hannah!👷♀🚪🔨🏠
Wow you have so much patience! Wipe on poly is nice too but takes a lot more coats to get enough to protect. I always let every coat of finish dry overnight. It take me way longer to finish something then to build it, but I just prefer to be safe and make sure each coat is dry. Great job.
Thank you! Yes, I definitely learned my lesson. I really need to let that coat of poly fully dry. So irritating! Thanks for watching!!😊
Very nice Hannah, I have a solid oak table that we had made for our 10th anniversary by an Amish man in Ontario Canada (27 years ago wow time flies)! It has weathered traveling from Canada to the States, 4 different houses, 3 very rambunctious boys and my husband and I...it has lived a very good life lol. It is time for the top to be refinished (it's 1.5" thick of solid oak) so I plan on stripping the top and 3 leaves, it is a double pedestal table that pulls out to almost 10'. Your video has motivated me to do it myself as well, I am the handy-woman of the house, my husband is glad to pay for it lol.
Oh the memories around that table!!😍 Yes, I hope you take on the project to make it beautiful again! We have plans to host Easter this year and I can't wait to show off my new table!! Although, I still have to do the leaves. I'm hoping to get those done this week. Thanks for watching!!🥰
@@hannahslist15 I am quite sure that they will all be gobsmacked!
Take a class or two taught by rockler or Home Depot or Lowe's abour finishing and refinishing wood projects and wood furniture. I like your efforts just take a few classes to learn about all this stuff and you won't have to struggle so much next time. I think it turned out nice and you did a good job so keep on rockin' girl!!
Thanks for watching!
Looks great .. 3 rd times a charm
Thanks!!😅
@@hannahslist15 Hope you had a nice St Patty's day?🍀🎩🌈🪙
nice, looks good
Thank you!!
brush your poly in one direction to spread evenly without bubbles or streaking .... sanding very lightly between coats using very fine grit paper ir steel wool will enhance a baby smooth finish
Were you softly sanding it between coats with like a 120 grit sandpaper or even a fine steel wool it will help open up the wood without taking the stain off so itll except abother voat of stain.
Excellent idea! I did sand it on the table surface, but I don't recall sanding much on the decorative feet. I only sanded that one damaged foot. Come to think of it, I think that foot is a little darker than the other two. 🤔
@@hannahslist15 the finer the sand paper the more slick the wood becomes therefore the less it likes to except stains. I try not to go any further than 120 grit when staining. It turned out looking good by the way I like the two tones!
Thank you!! I'm doing the leaves for the table soon, so hopefully it goes smoother!!
Wow! That was an amazing transformation! You have the patience of Job! I would've quit a lot time ago!
Ha ha!!! Believe me....I wanted to!!😅
did you sand the top before staining!
This was a really helpful video and most enjoyable to watch since you included your mistakes...didn't hurt that you're cute, too :)
Thank you!! Hopefully, I can help others avoid my same mistakes! So frustrating! Thanks for watching!
Someone is sleeping on the couch tonight.

Dogs will literally eat your home. Nice project

get diff gloves that are form fitting and light weight
bleach first before stain
I'll have to try that next time! Thanks!😊
