I don't play fighting games much myself, but you've made this quite interesting! I like the niche aspects of game design and tactics.

I wouldn't ve surprised if cancelling into Light AirSlasher would be intentional, but i have no proof.
What i do have is the knowledge that SNK in particupar, in the Fatal Fury series, does this intentionally. In games like Mark of the Wolves, you can cancel normals into Feints for certain blockstrings and combos. And, in City of the Wolves, they preserved abd showcased it.
So if a company that Capcom's been familiar competition with does that intentionally, and Dee Jay's meant to have better pressure than Guile for that charge archetype, him having cancels into light slash makes sense to me. It's just not something I'm used to from Dee Jay/most SF characters (closest I can think of is Dan in 5)

I don't think pk freeze is unexpectedly good, my friends are scared whenever I start using that attack, I always saw it as better pk flash, the unexpectedly good use of pk freeze is using it while not facing the opponent because it's movement backwards is greatly reduced, but as a read you don't over shoot and caughts unguarded, this works only against melee characters and some swordies

Won't lie, the quick play lucas mains using potato-powered dial-up microwaves for their connection have been driving Smash players mad with that since day one
Edit: sorry posted comment early into video. What deejay does is called a Tick throw set-up. If you have played pcs2 or pcs3 Capcom cabinets that's where the name comes from. It's when a normal is safe enough to lead to a grab mix-up. Famously Ryu's tick throws in Street Fighter 2 Hyper Fighting combined with his improved moves Make him so good many modern community tournaments outright ban him still from my understanding as he had such easy dizzies and redizzies that it was just cruel how good he was at fishing for grabs on top of that. Ryu in Hyper fighting is basically a stun simulator.
