- LG's made a name for themselves with their OLED TVs and this year's CES 2024 shines a light through their brand new, 4K 120Hz Wireless OLED Gaming televesision -- literally! This transparent OLED TV is perfect for gaming and maintain the fidelity users would expect from the TV manufacturers displays. Gamers make note -- the LG OLED T also features Free-Sync and G-Sync for variable refresh rate gaming.
Not sure you want to watch or game on a transparent display? Then enable the sliding black backdrop to maintain the high contrast and deep black dark levels you'd expect from LG's OLED line of televisions.

Wow amazing, I’ll use it to highlight my Oscars
Yeah that's probably because only people that can win oscars can afford it.
He means Oscars fish, right bud?
😂😂
Yes it seems useful in front of an aquarium
Or your cable management? Lol
"You can put anything behind"
*Puts another TV behind the TV*
Instant 3D display without the need for glasses.
This technology seems great for themeparks. They can have physical sets appear behind the TV, and the images in the screen will look like they are in the physical set. Especially with rides implementing AR tech like Mario Kart in Super Nintendo Worlds.
It's great for commercial use. My shouts too
Veloci-Coaster at Islands of Adventure has something like this. It makes the Raptor look like they're running beside the train when it launches.
Imagine integrating this tech into car windshields to display things like speed or maps. There are so many possibilities.
FINALLY. A television for Academy Award Winning Directors.
Yes it's about time they got a break.
This "pasty rice" comments section got a little spicy with the taste of this sarcasm...
Martin Scorsese: "This is cinema."
even more interesting to me than transparency is the wireless tech. I'm ready to ditch HDMI cables as long as there's little to no latency. Imagine if you could sit down on the couch with your steam deck and just instantly beam it to your TV without the need of a dock or cable
Not possible without significant latency
this aint 2012@@9714
You're ready to ditch HDMI cables? Enjoy your extremely high latency.
@@9714 We can make use of Li-Fi.
@@jimherold7827 Dang, looked up this TV and they are claiming no latency. It needs direct line of sight to the box, so like the other user said, sounds like they may be using a form of Li-Fi! Super cool.
Imagine this kind of tech as a display for VR/AR. You could put it into a pair of ski goggles and not have to worry about a passthrough camera.
That is what AR does.
@@NextNate03 AR is a passthrough camera too. That is why a suggestion to have transparent OLED wearable eyepieces with AR elements.
Well it would have its trade-offs. Picture quality would going to be definitely worse if you were to use it in no transparency mode for VR.
@kordelas2514
That is exactly what stand alone AR head sets does.
@@NextNate03 You do not have head sets with transparent OLEDs. All of them rely on passthrough digital camera feed, i.e., all information is provided on digital display. With transparent OLED you would directly see reality through glass with added digital elements on glass like a glass window with painted elements.
Now if you can replace a window with this, now thats some back to the future stuff
I've been wondering how to display my Oscars for awhile now
I’d Imagine getting a burn in on that would look like getting a spot on a window that you can’t wipe off lol
Finally, a company that keeps on transparency with their clients
This is kind of taking in a bit too far into the extreme.
69 likes nice.
This technology is going to be as ground breaking as 3D TVs …🤷🏼♂️
😂
Like foldable phones, or the LG tv that can roll up into its stand, it's more "build it because we can" than because it's practical. I'm excited to see the future of all this technology combined into something truly sci-fi..
Yeah, watched a Sony 3D HDTV for
Now we just gotta wait for Nintendo to make their next device out of it and then watch the technology fade into obscurity.
You're a small minded individual leaving a small minded comment. Think BIG. This is simply a proof of concept. A display of technology, no pun intended. Future applications in TVs, smartphones, the medical field, space exploration, etc is virtually limitless. 3D TVs he said 🤣
Totally affordable I’m sure!
What gave it away? The mention of the New York skyline or the collection of Oscars? 😂
😂
Brand new tech has never been affordable at release.
The first portable PCs were around $40K today, and now a laptop which is infinitely better can cost you around $300.
@@NoizzedThe laptops ~$300 are usually pretty garbage though. Plus, there's way more functionality in a portable computer compared to a transparent TV. The rolling TV LG had presented before was quite a bit more practical.
Two things….. 1st-Can it be seen from both sides, if not, that’s a must. 2nd-can this be applied to hand held tablets and cell phones as well?
how do you connect gaming consoles and whats the price?
what happens to it with direct sun exposure in front of a window for a long period of time.
Also, using a nanite behind the LED, that pulls up when you don’t want it to be transparent, that would make those dark cinematic moments pop.
If you combine this with glass that can instantly switch from being opaque to clear, then you can have what lots of sci-fi movies have with windows that can give you a fake outside vista
The every day scenario of all of us every day folk presenting our Oscars
It's a joke dumbo
@@rayromano6249
Sean was being sarcastic Dumbo.
You think it's a joke?
Their Rollable tv cost 100k at launch. It was was a 65 inch tv.
Only the top 1 percent will going to buy the Transparency tv
*Edit*
What about the his example of a Transparency tv won't block the Skyline view of New York City?
It's for the top 1 percent.
How does it handle direct sunlight?
as someone who used to work in advertising and sales.. the salesman was a perfect pro. very impressed by his delivery and knowledge.
Yes because we can all relate to having Oscar's behind my TV
lol fr @@bhvillaman4401
With the target audience probably being the 1%, yes he was great.
Can't wait to have something like this build into car windshields!
Iv been saying this for years, and GPS can highlight the roads making visibility at night, and maybe even hard to see curves in a mountain very easy. Would be really cool in goggles.
Or you can just use your brain or just speed down, while dealing with bad driving conditions @@BeachCowboy10
Said this years ago as well and it’s been in cyberpunk media for decades it’s gonna happen
yeah because that's just what we need more distracted ppl on the roads so we can have more accidents
So we have more accidents
Why this roll up roll down thing at the back why not a second layer that turns black like an old style lcd display
POV me walking in my house & forgets we’re the tv was.. moving into my new home 😵💫
When is the Vantablack edition of this coming out? ;)
Is it using battery so there is no cord??
prices?
Loved seeing The Wheel Of Time season 2 trailer in the background.
so it removes the black?
Amazing translucency and opacity
We are getting closer and closer to holograms, so exciting!
Can't wait for everyone to see all my cables and wiring behind the tv.
Its only $9,999.99 to acquire this amazing new technology to highlight your oscars!
Wow they're basically giving it away!!
Okay cool but what would you use it for
Displaying your Oscars, duh
LG pulled out of the smartphone market otherwise they were the ones with most innovative launches.
Still sad about no more LG cell phones. I'm still using my 3yr old LG
I've always wanted to hang pictures on my drywall behind my TV. FINALLY!
Whats the price tho
What movie is 5:04, with the Samurai?
LG CEO: Ok, you need to sell this to the average consumer
LG Employee: Gotcha, Boss!
LG Employee: So... when you wanna display your Oscars with the Skyline of NYC, you need to buy this baby.
So it's a projector?
connect box should be added to regular tv's
Feels a bit gimmicky to me even if it’s an impressive technical achievement
Remember 3D tvs? 😂
Yeah it seems like its mostly about asthetic then it is technological advancement. Pass.
It can probably be a very interesting technology to implement in VR/AR goggles to circumvent the need for cameras to film the environment. You would be able to see it and the screen content simultaneously in a natural way.
But again, for a normal TV it’s gimmicky.
It can be used on car windows, to highlight road at night, display navigation direction, etc. Or on store windows to play ads. Or used as AR glasses.. way too many possibilities.
for now it feels gimmicky to you. but let’s wait for about 5 years, this will be used not just for aesthetic but probably establishments like malls or hospitals. we’re getting close to a blade runner era.
If its got an ethernet cable coming out of it - its not wireless is it
Its technology is impressive, it'd be useful for many future innovations
....oscars...thats the pitch...I see your target market is not me.
This is awesome 👏 can’t wait to see this in person and price hopefully its affordable
It will not be affordable until it’s the norm and being mass produced to bring costs of materials and manufacturing down
There’s gotta be an invisibility cloak out there already lmao
That opening was a REACH. Lmao.
The video you posted yesterday had me at a hard “No”. Now seeing the option to bring the other black screen up has me curious.
Great idea for ads and stuff for store windows
Looks Awesome... thrilling to see great advancement in TV technology
Finally what we see in sci-fi movies is here :) You can be looking out your window then at a moment it can be a display. The future is now... You can have your window display any place or country with matching sound too!
they should use this for augmented reality on VR glasses
This could be great for screensavers and virtual paintings!
Sure whats the price ?
Yeah, I’m going to get one of these
The CZcams ads are crazy
Now 😢😢.
Great design compromise for those who want to use a huge TV, but don’t want a huge TV ruining the room aesthetics.
My poor guy is watching his dallas cowboys lose every year in the playoffs on the best technological-advanced TVs
How much 50k
Maybe if they added a curve and 3D...no wait, those already failed.
How does it get power?
It’s powered by electricity! The same thing makes your lights turn on if you aren’t sure how that works
This is going to revolutionise bus stops forever!
The footage here does not scream " Great picture, vibrant color, or excellent contrast". In fact everything looks washed way out even with the screen up.
Incredibile products 🎉
Hear me out. Imagine the gundam diorama you could make with that thing.
Oh, that's brilliant and way more practical than the awards display example in the vid. [Genuine, edited bc it read sarcastic. My bad.]
Can’t wait to get this on Black Friday at Walmart in 2032! Seen my future TV!
LG is OG!
Just tell us the nits for the brightness already lol
so the black color is just blank.
Can’t wait to cop!
Can someone explain how this works?
The same how AR works. Nothing new
@@Miles.Morales so it's using leds from the frame to reflect on the glass at certain parts to produce an image?
This is like 50 years ahead technology
Why are they limiting themselves by making this a TV? This can legit be used for holographic technology. Not actual holograms but definitely simulated.
Because the holographic technology is much more complex compared to this.
Yes! stack up a few more transparent TV's and with proper projections in each TV, we might get a 3d hologram
A box with multiple screens projecting different layers would definitely give a very real appearance of depth! No glasses necessary!
...and can they curve this enough that you can achieve 360 degree screen for a goggle-free VR experience? in small room?
Make this an actual window, and make it touchscreen
Government already has Hologram technology, they just don't want us to have it yet because they want to use it against us.
The technology just keeps advancing, it's insane 😭💯🙏
Yeah and I'm too poor to afford it 😕 but hey I'm not poor poor I'm just not rich. Then there are people who unfortunately have nothing.
@@jzipwe must always appreciate what we have 🙏
@@jzipIf you are healthy then you are rich
Yea it’s the same crap from the last 5 years they have shown at every ces
@@CB-bi1be but the improvements are noticeable 🤔
Isn't it great when you're told how perfect something is for gaming...without being shown any actual gaming?
Nice. Now let's wait 10 years for these to become mainstream and affordable, if they ever do, that is.
So you want a tv with what’s basically equivalent to having a glare or reflection on it?
Seems…., not ideal for home theater settings.
The wireless part is awesome.
Finally someone who acknowledges the glare
After he said Dallas Cowboys he got muted, f**king brutal if you ask me! 😆
It’s reminds me of the library in the movie Time Machine
A fish tank image would be cool to see
Why put this in front of the window so you can keep the views when you can get rid of the window and replace it with this....
Nobody:
Tech companies: Here's the transparent TV set nobody wanted.
Also, notice how ridicilous all use examples were... You are award-winning director and you are illuminating your Oscars omfg... You can't make this sh*t up.
As someone else mentioned, all that is worth anything here is the wireless aspect. That's something else.
This dude is so removed from reality lol
You’re not the target audience
@@nothumanlol He has main character syndrome😂
And instead of solving the reflective issue we have enhanced the reflections and made them even more apparent
It will cost more than a car 😂
Nah. LG ain't as greedy as Apple. 😆
When you really want to show off that PNG image
The window of the future where you can play a video of weather effects, other places and so on.
Rather than a consumer product, this will be featured in store windows, public transport, train stations and airports for info and advertising.
They forgot to mention that their cheapest option is a 4 in by 3 in TV for $5000
Gonna use it for my cars windshield 😂
30k bro?!?!?
They must have watched the Evan and Kaitlin channel do this to a computer monitor a couple years back
So freaking cool 👌👌
One step closer to highrise condo entire window into a tv
This is a proper screen to display PNG files and videos with Alpha Channel lol.
You cant fully appreciate the beauty of 4K UHD HDR with a transparent screen, it defeats the purpose.
Bro got so upset over the guy being a cowboys fan that he ended the interview 😂 but really, take my money
One of those “because we can” inventions.
Thats crazy
So it's a space saving television that doesn't actually save space?
The wireless part is more interesting than the transparent part.
