  • After the San Diego Chargers bested the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Championship on Jan. 15, 1995, fans in America’s Finest City were ready to celebrate! News 8’s Larry Himmel reported on the team’s homecoming following the game. Over 70,000 fans packed Jack Murphy Stadium for the occasion chanting “Super Bowl” and dancing as they waited to welcome home the players and coaches. Once they arrived, a teary-eyed Junior Seau addressed the crowd to roaring cheers. Our Chargers were on their way to their first Super Bowl in Miami, FL where they would eventually lose to the San Francisco 49ers, 49-26. www.cbs8.com/a...

Nah you don’t wanna go they would find a way tk blow the lead especially on Monday night. Use to rip my heart out growing up and imagine going to a home game. That was even worse

I went to many games there from 1993-2010 and a few in 2016 and it was an amazing place. A total pile of crap near the end but it was our team and our pile of crap! I went up to SoFi Stadium last season for the Broncos Monday Night game and it was great, but a very different vibe. Still support the team no matter what!

@@jjcooks7401 Yes. It was fabulous! Now (as a visitor) it seems so crowded and busy. Lived right next to Balboa Park on Banker's Hill. So peaceful.....

Dean Spanos took over day-to-day operations of the Chargers about the same time and it’s been a downward spiral ever since .

Stadium full of fans not for a game but just to show up for our team, San Diego’s finest. Now we can’t even sell our a soccer stadium up in LA and our fan base is the joke of the league. Still feels like a bad dream whenever I think about it, maybe one day they’ll be back home.

I was there, section 39, field level, row 12 with my dad, brother, and my best friend. As soon as we heard about it, told my dad. He immediately told us to load up the grill, food and drinks, packed into his truck and drove to the Murph. Tailgated until they opened the gates. I don't think I'd ever seen the Murph that packed before. It was awesome! It was so packed that people were sitting in the aisles, the crowds even spilled out onto the concourses, the corkscrew ramps, and the parking lot. I can't remember if we paid anything to get in, I want to say it was free but my dad might have paid for us and not said anything
