- Today I am going to show you how to swap mouse switches without additional tools (except a soldering iron obviously). There are multiple other methods that could yield better results but need additional tools. I tried to show you how I did it multiple times, without spending any additional money!
If you have any questions, feel free to ask them in the comment section.

video is straight to point, clear instructions . interested to mod mine sometimes in the future
thank you so much
very easy to understand, thx for the video
Very useful, thanks Cal.
Great guide as always! Thank you!
thank you so much :)
I soldered my mouse successfully with this video tysm
Great to hear! Thank you for the feedback 👀
how do u figure out which way to put the switch
@@attiqrahman8721 by looking at the way it came from the factory and just copying that lol
@@attiqrahman8721 looking at the switches you remove. Or looking at it and thinking which way it makes sense :)
@@calonyoutube thanks a lot
excelent video as always! keep up the good work my guy
thank you so much!
I'm a fan, amazing tutorial.
thank you so much!
As others have already mentioned, the orientation of the switch on the PCB is usually indicated by a little line that has to match the button when viewed from above. So that you don't solder it in backwards. ;)
U mean the white button that looks like a little line that comes into contqct to the bendable copper thingy ubderneath?
@@deemarty6618 Sounds like it. On the PCB should be a printed version of the switch. If you orientate your switch this way it should be soldered correctly.
Thank u bro I’m gonna do this
Literally as I'm about to scavange my destroyed mouse for micro switches and swap it into my old mouse that had switches die.. Actually helpful timing. Thanks sens
That is indeed good timing! Gl sandwich! Lmk if you have questions
Great video really helped
Thank you !
Earned a sub👍
I wouldn't have damaged my PCB if I could watch this video beforehand. Nice video and TYSM
Replaced my Logotech 402 switch today. I would recommend using a desoldering tool of some kind. It took me an hour without them since the switch had no room to hold it.
thanks dude
thank you!
hi there recently i got a g305, have been using it pretty extensively, the mouse feet feels a bit worn out and the clicks were kinda garbage from day 1.
should i get corepads for the mouse feet and which switches should i get if i want more tactility, less noise and less actuation force
thx for the suggestions
yo cal! very nice vid, exacly what i'm looking for. One question tho: can i use gm 8.0 on side buttons?
for the mice i've seen that should work!
thank you
Nice Video.
Thank you!
Hi, what switches you used here?Rly like that clicky sound, thx in advance
¿Which switch and encoder is the one you use for the scroll?
Hi, what are the pros/cons to using Kailh GM 8.0 Transparants over Kailh GM 4.0 reds?
can you recommend some best clicker switches that hardly to get replaced again I'm planning for Huano Blue switches
Are all switches compatible with each pcb? I mean I know there are 2 pin ones and 3 pin ones but are the pcbs going to register the new switches normally?
Could you please tell us which soldering iron are you using? i'd like to purchase the same model
bro thank you soo much i can repair my mouse whithout spending money
would you know if broke down my mouse? i was trying to get the switches pin off but it was hard, my soldering iron isn't in great condition so it was hard but i did get them switches off, but i think the switches went out with the copper base pads so now there's no connection i think, any fix?
Got logitech superlight and it seems to have some really bad switches and literally causes me brain damage while playing with it. Felt quite sceptical about changing them myself but I'm gonna do it really really soon after seeing this vid. Well explained, thanks! What switches are good to be used?
gm 8.0 are good! thank you so much!
TTC Gold 80 million click !
gm 8.0 are terrible on teh superlight, I'd go huano pink dots, or ttc gold 80ms, japanese omrons are prob the best on superlight. The GM 8.0 causes the mouse buttons to vibrate to much. GM 8.0 is a good switch but only on a suitable mouse shell.
@@georgepierre3594 Japanese Omron works, but you need to modified the plunger (with the Chinese Omron) for it to work properly (due to the difference plunger height)
You switched the right one with backward direction and the left one with front direction ...is it it ok for the right switch to click properly?
What soldering equipment are you using?
Minecraft players: Yess get rekt razer
dude so true thats why I came here
Kalih switches are to heavy
@@spxdesyt5071 but razer may've put high debounce time on them, so be careful
@ok yeah they suck
@ok they we’re made to not be dragged clicked on. It says on the trailer for the switches that they prevent double clicks. Duh
is the right click upside down???
Yes fucked that up. Fixed it afterwards but didn’t want to re-edit the video, since it doesn’t change anything. Just put them in the correct way
Finally someone other than me noticed it
can I swap my entire mouse pcb and put like the razer optical switches into a more premium shell or a shell that I find more comfortable?
can you tell where can i buy the swicthes for g102?
Going to be doing this on my finalmouse this week can’t wait 😁
Good luck!! it really changes the mouse!
In order to replace the side button switches, would it be the same process as the buttons replaced in the video, or is replacing the side button switches a different challenge in itself? I was planning on replacing all 4 switches with GM 4.0s on my g305 in the future.
same process. if they use the same type of switches:)
i haven't tested the mouse yet because the switches i ordered haven't arrived yet, but I think i fucked up the board when i tried to desolder the switches. there was a small metal circle piece that came off and i don't know if that's the contact point of the board or just a piece of lead. HELP
I just ordered new Omron switches 😂
What are good switches? I only had the mouse a month before encountering issues.
I might try this to my g502 hero, after almost 2 years (i think, dont remember exactly) its starting to not hold a click for drag and dropping or ads in game, and sometimes it feels like the click is delayed. What switches do you recommend for preventing this as long as possible? Also where do you get the switches? Im in Europe
Just replaced mine with Black Kailh GM 8.0 Mouse Switches
Is the switch matter for drag click what I mean is I have a gaming mouse look like bloady a70 and it can not register clicks if i switch to better switchs is It will register plz answer ?
Was one of the switches placed upside-down on purpose? I noticed that the right-side switch was oriented differently from the left switch. I recently replaced the switches on my G102, both of the switches were upright.
yeah one was fucked up. changed it before closing it again :D
nice it worked
glad to hear
God vid
what mouse did you mod ?
hello, i have a question. Where did you buy the mouse cable?
I made them myself! check my previous videos :) otherwise there are plenty sellers online. Search for: usb paracord
What solder iron should I use?
Do any switches work for every mouse, or could there be any compatibility issues? Thanks in advance
yes any switches of the same type will work!
I need to learn how to solder. I have two G305 mice that are double-clicking. This seems like a good opportunity to get some solder practicing in. I have a few questions though:
What type of soldering wire do I need? Any links to a particular one (I'm from UK)? I noticed you dabbed the iron into some white-looking sponge thing after soldering. What was that?
I personally prefer wire with lead. make sure to not inhale that tho. that was a soaked sponge to clean the remaining soldering stains of the tip
stupid question would these switches be compatible with a deathadder elite and if not what switches are can't find much on google.
afaik they will be compatible
Are they harder to press? I got g102 and click are way too light but is it becouse of switches or button tensioning?
yes
Hi nice soldering iron with digital temp display . where can I get this?
amazon and Aliexpress: TS100
I have m711 cobra (red dragon) with huano switches I want omron which omrons do I buy and will it work?
the ones that you like the most. If its a mouse switch, it will work!
Does this works with optical switches? pls help
Don't know if you ever did that but i open the switches on my mice and bent down the pillar above the contact sheet. In my experience switches are pretty adjustable that way. You can make them more silent and lighter to click. You can even make them extremly light and practically silent but it's uncomfortable because you can't rest your fingers on the mouse then.
never did it!
Hi, I'm a switch mouse lover. Have you ever opened a middle click switch? I would like to do the exact same thing you did, like, making them easier to click. Is it possible by doing it the way you did?
@@Kiujind No you can't do this method with the middle switch (scrollwheel) because it's a different type of switch. ( i looked at like 4 mice and they all had the same set of switches) I guess it could be possible but i never tried. Look at it yourself, maybe you find a solution. It's not that difficult to take apart a mouse and put it back together.
@@Kiujind just rewatched the video quickly and the mouse in the video actually has the same type of switch for the middle button so it would be possible with this one. All the mice i had had a tiny square switch with a round button as middle one that you couldn't take apart. If you got a switch like in the video you can easily bend the latch with a knife or something and lift the upper part off. And you don't need to desolder them for this. Just be careful to not break anything.
@@jx4219 yeah, I found yesterday these switches are called: push button switch. Also 2 pin micro switch
Hi, what soldering iron you are using?
It is called "TS100" you will find it on amazon
No one seemed to notice, and didn't see you comment below. The right switch is supposed to go the other way around, in case you guys try it yourself, the dot on the switch is supposed to go in front. It would be a pain to do it one way, solder again, turn it around.
at least 10 people commented that :D so plenty people noticed. I also saw that and changed the switch orientation before closing the shell. Just didn't want to record it again.
Is it possible to swap the switch of the R.A.T 8+ ADV with the new Fuhlen optical switch? Does it have any special sub-sources?
Many thanks!
nice background music, man. which song are those?
just some copyright free tracks :> sadly I dont remember the name
do you know how to make middle mouse clicks lighter? i have a xtrfy m42 and i love it but the middle mouse button is way too heavy to click
Pretty sure you could also swap the switch!
@@calonyoutube That worked thank you! Even though i did it a bit differently. I opened the switch and just exchanged the the metal contact spring because im not confident with my soldering skills. was a bit finicky but it works and feels great now.
Hi, what folding knife are you using?
Smith & Wesson Extreme Ops *dont know the model* but I am pretty sure they don't sell it anymore
Have you tried other switches? I have the same mouse and I'm going to order some. I play League of Legends and i click a lot so what would be a good clicky but not too heavy switch?
Sadly I only tried ttc pink and gm 4.0. Check out the mouse click mastersheet by entsgg docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1x9iUvx3j2GiWwj_o2_jmsofY0Hoppg26QWolg-_Uaj4/htmlview

hey, i saw switches in video have 3 pins, but what to do if it has 3 pins, cuz i bought myself lightstrike switches to replace for dragclicking, and i simply dont know how to use it cuz other pin placement
sadly cant help there. I mean if it has 3 pins everything matches right?
@@calonyoutube bruh misstype, i meant 6 pins, like 2 first pins are ok, but for last pin there are 4 separate in square pattern

tried to replase switches in my g305 but its go crazy. works only whith original omrons. did some one have this problem? same whith g102.
bro where to buy this cable
What's the name of the soldering iron you used?
It's TS100 soldering iron. You cna buy much better, cheaper one called PINECIL. It's way better than TS100 and uses same interchangeable heating tips of TS100
Is it possible to replace the wheel part from another one from a totally diff mice brand or that would not work? I have a corsair m65 and the wheel always failed me... and I have another "gaming" mice from a knock off brand but that mice's wheel NEVER failed me for years on use I would very much like to swap them up but no idea if that is possible due to compatibility issues? Thanks in advance to anyone who could answer me!
Hard to tell. But if it works it works :> so you could try it. It really depends on the mwheel and the mounting
i have a razer viper ultimate, left click does not work , and a lot told me it's optical so omron ones wont work , any solution ?
only solution would be to get your hands on an aftermarket optical or RMA it
which soldering iron did you use?
TS100
How do you replace the scroll click? The scroll click on my Deathadder 2013 doesn't work anymore
open the mouse up and check. should work accordingly
Bro can you use those switches again you removed?
how to replace without soldering gun? can we use any hot metal to melt solder?
no
which shop to go
the right click switch was soldered in the wrong orientation. see 1:55 and 8:05.. that is why ur having issues on click when your testing @ 8:54,.. but still this is a good video.
Does a mouse need a specific mouse switch or can i just buy a random one online?
If it is a fitting micro switch everyone should work. just look at them carefully before making a buying decision
@@calonyoutubeWould a omron switch fit on a steel series rival 600?
will still work if i switch the old switches on the new mouse? reply pls

ive never done soldering before and kinda health anxious about it, i really want to start modding my own peripherals and maybe im just not sure how to start. would buying p100 respirators help with the health risks? id like to learn how to do this but want to minimize as much risks as possible im kinda paranoid with health stuff lol
Could I get a link from any1 to amazon of that usb soldering tool? 2:35
Type „TS100“ in Amazon and you’ll find it
i swapped 2 switches but now they don't work(they don't have power, I measured the others and I could read 3.3V on the voltmeter) =((
Please which is the fastest mouse switches? The lower latency
I dont know. Latency wise there shouldnt be to much of a difference
Does this work with any mouse design?? Eg razor
yes
Can you do how to upgrade mouse optical sensor?
uhm... I dont think that is something you can do as an end user... sensors need alignment, are typically BGA mounted and have different pinouts, not like microswitches....
@@Medievalfan94 exactly. Also the PCB firmware must match the sensor. you would need to write smth yourself. In addition most modern mice have good enough sensors anyways
What's differens for black and red switcher?

I tried this method, and it ruined the board, I used a wired soldering iron, 30W, dunno why, and I did it carefully, very hard to remove.
probably to hot and/or contact with the board for to long
this could be really cool for a g pro wireless tbh to fix some of the double clicking issues.. If my GPW starts to double click i might try this out (: thanks for being as smart as you are
