This is a real black widow spider transformed into solid bronze using lost wax casting. I've never seen a bronze sculpture quite like this. Lucas Lundgren, Lundgren Bronze Studios. - Věda a technologie
Super impressive cast!
I was really surprised that it was possible to pose the legs without breaking them.
I have never seen a black widow in a natural setting before -- only in manmade structures such as barns, sheds, etc.
The legs were still flexible because it had just died. You’re correct that they would break if it had dried out at all.
I'm always impressed with your works of art! And I bet you could make one heck of a chess set with all these insect castings!!
Crazy
Well done! That is a truly amazing job of lost wax casting! Thanks😊
I love watching your videos ... so many steps to complete your beautiful art pieces!
Another beautiful casting! I love watching your progress!
The detail that you are able to capture is always so amazing.
I have passively followed/watched you vids for awhile now. Recently I have been falling in love with both your passion for the craft and your sweet buttery voice. I encourage you to keep doing you.
Wish I lived near you. I have so many ideas for casting.
I’m impressed; wouldn’t have thought you could get such thin legs cast, but they really look great.
Your videos never disappoint.
Came out great!
Outstanding!!
Very impressive!
With out a fail! 🎉 unbelievable!
Great job man
Very nice!
love it!
Just incredible.....
Very cool!
great job.
Gracias. Por por su labor 🎉 una pregunta cómo funciona la cámara de vacío
Impressive! Now catch and do a wolverine…………….skull, I love skulls, that one you cast was pretty awesome, my favourite so far….
I was just thinking today I should try a bear skull.
Beautiful 🐿🐿🐿
First try was successful? I know you have skills but... WOW!!
10 hour burnout, wow.
Very nice.
Great job! If you want something else to bronze I can send you a model of my dog I 3d scanned. I printed it to sit on top of her urn.
OMG, I hate Spiders, but this is so beautiful. A really stunning result....
Kind of similar to the epic scorpion you cast -fantastic! I think the spider should have had a mate -male or female? Fun fact after BWs mate the female devours the male.
Didn't know black widows were so common. I've seen spiders that looked like that, and now guessing they probably were -Wow!
Couldn't help but notice the protruding hand covered in bugs. Looks like another one of a kind work of art -master jedi you are. 👍
Yep. The hand is another project to come. Still working on it.
Arach-tastic!
@ 3:03 the white material that you are using to cast, I think I am hearing you say, "investment" what is that?
It’s what they call a special plaster made to withstand the high temperatures of wax burn outs and casting. It’s also porous so air can flow through it.
That was a big black widow. Yeah that would have definitely ruined your day.
Do you sell your works online? I would love to buy something as original and creative this.
Looking very nice. Maybe next time cast a spider web.
That would be extreme!
@bigstackD this is highly relevant to your interests
It scares me a litle,
Brrrr spiders are not my friends, 🥶
But bronze spiders looks mutch more friendly 😉
Well done 😍
Can the same be done with a human body?
In theory yes but I’ve never tried.
It would be rather expensive to look for an already dead spider to cast- I've looked.
😆
@@lundgrenbronzestudios look I'm sure you've also looked at bone clones and other similar products to cast so you understand they can be like $300 for really big pieces. The megalodon tooth I was looking at was $115 last time I checked lol
4:37 doesnt look like a spider to me
Well it is a spider so I don’t know what to tell you.
@@lundgrenbronzestudios are you sure its not a grasshopper? 😄
@@rocketman5004 haha oh that’s right I did slip a Mormon cricket in there. 😆
Do you use any specific type of wax for your molds??? Thanks
I use microcrystalline wax.
