One cool thing about the connected dialogue throughout this game, Nowa and Seign actually do recall who won this fight a bit later on in the story, and if you won, Nowa will have distinctive dialogue about how he won the fight, if you lost, Seign will have unique dialogue mentioning he was the victor instead! It's the little details.

Cool thing innit? It's one of the few game series that actually connect stuff together. The first three suikoden games actually carried over save datas to unlock special scenes. In S2, it also unlocked the hero from S1. Not to mention, that depending on how you ended S1, certain characters will appear in that part.

Daryl vs flemming lez goooo , sometimes i wish since nowa is the main character , that they give more emphasis in his growth , his swinging rune is so unique and Hype , not one moment in the game that the devs made him say that " i actually want to get stronger " i know nowa is all about being a commander and all but doesnt hurt to have some inherent self taught mayhem with his fighting style , i just wished they delved deeper into that , like giving him a rage burst mode that ultimately allows him to use a Massive swinging related barrage by the end of it if he wants to , but oh well i guess ill just take his fire Aoe attack , that was kinda hype too , multi hit , a final whack and a turning pose
The Clash of Swords , The exchange after each attack and a Great OST.....This makes the game really great

Yeah but I'm having trouble with figuring out which line means which attack
I wish there were more of them, and they had the whole rock-paper-scissors experience from Suikoden. And that you were actually meant to win the first couple... they played it safe and dumbed down a lot more things than I'd have liked.
The Timing of Nowa's Dialogue in 4:00 and then comes the Chorus of the song was too epic.

I replayed this battle multiple times and my biggest mistake is trying to switch up my commands when the dialogue loops. Because in my mind, the dialogue loops because I made a wrong command. I should've just responded accordingly to Seign as he telegraphs his moves.

Even though I like this and it fits the art style they are going for, I wish they used the version of the duels from the later Suikoden games like Suikoden 5

No. The results of the duel is just going to be referenced later when you meet Seign again. But story and gameplay-wise, nothing changes.

You get reward or something if you happen to win..?? I dont bother to restart it cos you need to do the battle phase again..

How do you solo when you have 3-4 locked in must haves for a party? This duel is so well done with that song pick up.
You can assign them as attedents I believe it is called, and they will not participate in battles, but will be there for the story, sadly there is only 3 slots and there are points where you need 5 characters, but 3 is good most of the time
@@darkshot4424 WOW i am dum never even thought about that but with this once you get he bosster item go up to Nowas home town and farm there I was able to get 20 but I had 4 so I bet it will not be to long to do so.

Suikoden Signature a Duel

I suppose that your level doesn't matter much, you should just survive till the 4th round of duel with enough HP to break before you fall down, so I just countered at every possibility, funny thing is that your attacks don't mean much, since Seign HP is reduced to a fixed amount when you advance to the next duel round. The easiest way to win imo it is to build up your defence at round 3 and lower Seign attack. Took me 7 times to win.
This the japanese version only? because I "won" and it still did the you lose cutscene bullshit...the hell?

So how does this work exactly? The game explained absolutely nothing and I still don't get it from watching the video.
It depends on the lines they said. If u get it wrong, Seign will lose more HP and you will lose more HP than choosing the right command.
For example, when Seign says: "Here i come, Nowa!", choose COUNTER will make him lose more HP, and you lose less HP than ATTACK command.
The BREAK command only appears when tension gauge is full.
However, at the final phase, it depends on luck when you break Seign. You can lose or win, but it doesn't change the story or ending, it only occurs a few different scenes.
It's mostly Rock = Attack, Paper = Counter/ Defend, Scissors = Break system. Your enemies will act based on what they say (give you clues on their next action.) and you respond with the appropriate counter or else take damage.
How's the translation? I heard they ruined the translation
I lost at this match and last saved progress was few minutes ago. If there is only a skip scene button then i would love to challenge it again.
During this battle there is no way to skip the cutscenes but from the previous save point until the start of this battle you can skip all the cutscenes by holding circle (PlayStation)/ B (Xbox)
@@daikyozeus i dont know, on pc theres no save point if you want to restart it, you need to do the battlefield phase again which is a chore..
@@MrPhoxyJust like you said there is no save point after the Battlefield, I had to do the battle every time before going to the bridge and after several hours of trying I won the battle on the bridge.
The sequence I used to win was:
CACACB
CCCCCCB
ACAVVVCB
CCB
which respectively are:
A = attack
C = counter
B = break
V = is variable because if before choosing the command Nowa says " Nngh... He's tough " is Counter and if Nowa says " I'll never win if I stay on the defensive! " is Attack .
Actually there is a skipscene button not sure about this scene but to skip a scene hold the cancel button

It is scripted for you to lose so no nothing bad happens and as far as I know other then a small bit of dialog there is nothing you get from winning either which to me was a missed opertunity.

This must have been patched. I can make it to the last break point w/ even more HP that in this video but after the break animation fades out to the loading screen when the game comes back I am the one who lost.

It's dumb, but using Break without a full gauge has a chance for it to fail, so the last part of the duel is pretty much RNG.
@@ShadowStormX7 it must be a really low chance to succeed then because I got the final break point at least 5 times and always failed after the animation.
This was so cool! I didn’t make it off the bridge. I got my ass whooped because I didn’t understand how the combat works. And when to counter and when to attack.
Even if you do, if you're underleveled you will still have your ass handed to you anyway. I did everything correctly and still didn't manage to go past the 3rd phase cuz I was level 17 by the time I reached the duel. This dude is level 24 and barely had any health left after he won the duel.

I’m level 25 and I did follow the guide base on how to respond attack or counter it took me 6 or 8 tries was it before I beat Seign

What I mean is that
I was able to save the game, from the In, before the 1st War, and yeah it's pretty annoying if you weren't able to beat him on your 1st try, cuz you have to repeat it all over and over again

Last break is part RNG. If you read carefully there is a "Risk of failing if Tension is too low"
Also if you look at your tension bar, it not completely filled up. Try countering until you are almost dead then use it.
@@PuchimonExtreme can confirm this, I managed to reach the last part with about 30-40% health, did the break and next cutscene I lost somehow
Tried this for 5 hours, kept getting bad luck on the last break and gave up
@@callmezeldaonemoartime was about to do the same and I managed to beat him after countering 3 times at the end, so if at that point Nowa isn't extremely low on health (aka kneeling) try and gamble on countering to gain more tension meter to get better chance of winning

From what I've heard, this duel is scripted to make you lose, but because apparently the damage in duels is calculated in part by your stats, you can grind until you'll be able to overpower him

well I got to 24 still lose what gear did you have on ight be the reason I am losing like accessoy and what rune.
Stack as much hp up as possible. Try to counter 3 times in wave 4 of the duel. Lastly, the final break still isn't 100% guaranteed to win, but the higher tension increases your odds. In the end, you'll need real-life luck (or ng+).
Fuck this is why I hate this entire sequence. It’s pure RNG, or insane level grinding that makes me not want to play anymore. Just stupid.
@@zacharynyberg7007 I gave up you see he has gear on thats like 3 areas later when you get him but still hes maybe like lvl 20 when you fight him if that lvl 24 or more should be a easy fight but they do fixed damage on his attacks from what it looks like.
I mean, you're supposed to lose the fight. The winning scene is a bonus for ng+. The only bs rng fights I remember are the redthroat ridge gimmick and the proving grounds boss. I'm playing hard with all restrictions, and none of the others bosses have been hard.

The first time IT CRASHED!
The other 2 i lost under the bridge and the last one I didn’t know you had a PHASE 4! I was on 1 hp n died when i countered.
wtf i end with same life at 23 and always lose at end of phase 4

The duel cinematic is looking so much better in EC, but man the duel system itself is sooo bad. Hope theres improvement in the sequel

I like this game but it doesn have pressure of repercussions like Suikoden has. Skipped a tree? No flying squirel for you. Too much grinding? Welp sorry Clive mission has ended. Like these two characters? Now choose one to die in a war. Didnt collect all heroes before specific point of event? Here take this bad ending.

Your opinion shows a complete lack of sense. Everything matches, from the previous battle, ex partners battling and the music talking about 100 heroes, something that will be in the game and is the theme!

I dont play the game, or i know suikoden, but everything fits, they look like your cliche anime trope best friend and rival. However i agree with repeated line part, that actually broke the atmosphere a little bit lol.
