The first time I encountered the Fanatic, I had to nope out of there mid-fight because it hadn't occurred to me that I could have just turned off the sound. It was late at night, and the screams just overwhelmed me to the point of a near panic attack. Of course, that was just the first time experience talking, but this is still deeply unsettling.
Maybe you were so immersed in the game and it's atmosphere that you just stopped treating it like a video game in which you can turn off the sound and more like you were actually there surrounded by screaming people as they burned to death. Cause Darkest Dungeon is just the kind of game that can suck you into it's world and make all the danger and anxiety feel so real. More reasons to regard Darkest Dungeon as masterpiece.

This is the only soundtrack and sound design immersive enough and fucked up enough that it makes me feel like just fucking leaving and not push on, the fucking screams are realistic as fuck, overwhelming, crushing and horror inducing, and it's just a few horn notes, some drums and screams, S TIER SOUND DESIGN AT IT FUCKING FINEST.
When I first fought this guy, when I heard the screaming it honestly just emboldened me to defeat him, like I had to stop him. Happy to say that I was able to in that first fight, with my Jester Clopin fittingly being the one to finish him off.
I really like this, it was such a great touch by red hook to make the screams play when the fanatic puts someone on the stake! Not as relaxing as the average soothing ww2 battlefield firefight asmr videos but still pretty chill. 7/10.

Oh man I ran into this guy on my first hallway fight in the cove, I was just looking to get some trinkets the spawn room had scouted a fight and a secret room . I was oh nice I can get some loot as well . My arbalest my plaque doctor my hellion and my abomination had all eldritch slayer and hater so it was cove for them ...nope this guy shows up throws pd on the stake , she is my stunner and blighter. Then proceeded to pummel my Ranger into death blows by crits after crits my hellion had crimson curse so she was stubborn ASF and kept denying to move back to space or switch places with abomination. I some how managed to get pd back of the stake and decidedly chose to retreat my anxiety was through the roof as she had the Blastphamous Vile and ancestors lantern
Fanatic by a long shot, collector is easy and you can prepare for him. But the Fanatic can come when you depleted all your resources + low health and he's quite tough
In my experience so far - The Collector, even though he’s suprised me a few times, is really easy to handle to a put where he’s a minor inconvenience. I don’t have have the Crimson Court DLC yet so I’ve yet to see what The Fanatic is like
I really hope that the heros save all the other burning people once they finish the fight. Even if they are infected, they still havent done anything wrong
